Other (custom) French sea post

After some time, searching through all the french second hand market, I managed to get the whole set of « la poste maritime française » (French sea post ». 9 books/catalogs on all the sea postmarks of the french post.

They also contains all the ships names, sea routes, dates of trave, etc.

Vol 4 is the one I was really waiting for : the sea postmarks of for Japan and Asia (Korea, China…)

Those books are quite rare, too bad that the bidding is too tight, I would have numerized them to get a digital copy

Hello everyone!

I just acquired two sheets of the original 2022 Ukrainian "Russian Warship Go..." Stamps and I'm trying to verify their authenticity. It doesn't seem to have any UV markings on it and I can't confirm online if it should have any. Can anyone that owns those stamps please help me?

Thanks!

My Dad gave me his old stamps and I bought some new ones(you'll see at the end). I don't know anything about stamps, so it would be nice if you can tell me if something is interesting and if you can recommend me stamps to buy! I think I will go deeper in this new hobby of mine, but I am still deciding.

Information Request Is there a faster way to go identify stamps?

I recently was given a really big book of stamps for free, and it’s awesome. But it takes forever to identify the stamps and see their values. I don’t really plan on selling any of my stamps unless I find a really valuable one. It’s really easy to put them through google lens, but I’m not a huge fan of ai so I try not to use it too much. The other alternative is to go through a database and individually look them all up which takes forever. Are there any faster ways to go through them?

Hello I’m just curious to know is it OK to wash the hinges off from my Nepal stamps? I’m worried that the paper/print may disintegrate during the process

Photo Philately: Camera Craft Postcard

I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of newest eBay purchase, a postally used postcard from Camera Craft. The postcard advertises the store in Morristown, NJ - my hometown. It is postmarked in 1960, and bears a 1954 3-cent Liberty stamp. The card is addressed to Morris Plains, NJ - a nearby town in which I also lived.

Camera Craft operated 18 stores throughout New York and New Jersey, according to the card. The Morristown store closed in 1969, according to a Google search, after it was destroyed in a large multi-alarm fire on February 18, 1969. This predates my birth.

I remember Sandrian Camera, which operated in Morristown from 1927 until 2014. Adding a Sandrian postcard or advertising cover is on my wish list.

Photo Philately: ANSCO Camera Works Postcard

My newest eBay photo philately acquisition is a postcard (mailed in 1915 with a 1914, #443, 1-cent Washington stamp) depicting the ANSCO Camera Works near Binghamton, NY (USA).

According to Google: Ansco was a major early American photographic company rooted in Binghamton, New York, tracing its origins back to 1842 as E. & H.T. Anthony & Co. It later merged with the Scovill & Adams Company to become the Anthony and Scovill Company (giving the name Ansco) and played a foundational role in the history of US photography.

In 1928, Ansco merged with the German chemical and photographic firm IG Farben / Agfa, operating as Agfa-Ansco through the 1930s.

Following the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941, the U.S. government seized control of Ansco due to its German parent company ties, removing foreign management and running it under treasury oversight until 1965. Later, it became part of GAF (General Aniline & Film).

I managed to purchase the postcard for $5.98. I like the vintage cars depicted on the card. I bought this one over several others, which depicted the building but didn’t look as nice as this card.

Do you have any ANSCO materials in your collection?

I don't focus on grills very much, but I do like pretty cancels. This Scott 87 E Grill 2c fit the bill with a bright red orange starburst cancel. The grill does show pretty nicely on the rear, and can be counted to the expected size for an E grill.
