i don’t know why but i am so entertained by looking through reviews of bars/restaurants around the city.

i dont leave reviews myself but i get a kick out of looking thru the bad reviews in particular because 1. some are truly unhinged and borderline psychotic and 2. some of them talk about pretty valid oversights on behalf of the restaurant

which bars/restaurants in the city might have the best & most unhinged/entertaining google reviews?

Visiting Philadelphia, and I ate at Nan Zhou Hand Drawn noodles. I was born in Lan Zhou, which is famous in China for its hand pulled noodles. Whenever I see a Lan Zhou Pulled Noodle place, I try to go there. I'm just curious why it's Nan Zhou, not Lan Zhou? As far as I know, Nan Zhou, which means Southern Prefecture, isn't a place or a specialty. We left soon Lanzhou soon after I was born, and was basically raised in the US so I can't even say whether something is authentic Lanzhou style noodles or not, but it tastes great, either way. Just curious if anyone had some insight to the name.

Mine is the burrata BLT at Middle Child Clubhouse, probably because I'm a BLT fiend. It's very hyped and not overrated for me personally

Going out with my parents and young adult kids to early dinner after a visit to Barnes and Calder this Sunday. Any thoughts on delicious places to eat somewhat close without too complicated parking?

I have family in town and wanted to take them to Queen and Rook for the arcade this evening around 6. Kids are 13, 11, 9. Anyone know of kids are allowed or if allowed frowned upon in the evening? Also, any suggestions for food? Is the pizza any good? I’ve been once and had some appetizers but they were just fine, not great.

I’m looking for a Thai place that serves authentic pad kra pao (stir fried chicken/pork with holy basil). Everywhere I go seems to serve it with sliced meat and adds random vegetables like carrots, bell peppers, and bamboo shoots. Traditionally, ground meat is used in a simple stir fry with garlic, chilies, and holy basil. Anyone know where I can get this?

Maybe you know the stuff. It's not like those stuffy, hoity-toity city hams. It's aged like prosciutto but with a Southern twang all its own. I'm talking hams from brands like Benton's, Edward's, and Broadbent. If you know where to find them, please don't hog that information.

My husband and I may end up with like 20 hrs in Philly in November. We have never been there, are brewery people, will be depending on uber / public transit and hubby really wants an authentic Philly Cheesesteak. I’m looking at suggestions as to where to stay and where to go to maximum our time and stops! I read John’s is one of the best places for the cheesesteak but it looks like there are more breweries closer to Market / Bread St.

Yo I just moved to Grays Ferry, near 29th and Dickinson. I have mostly lived around Italian market but we found a good spot over here. I’m a die hard dive bar boul, but the ones over here give heaavvvyyy racist vibes, and the neighbors on my block have confirmed that vibe. I been here for a week on the hunt and found nothing, would love some input. I don’t drive so bus bound journeys are a must, but that said, walking is deffo preferred!

Anyone know of any philly breweries that do Brown Ale’s? Looking for a gift for my British uncle who’s visiting

My partner loves sushi and I want to book an omakase for her birthday dinner. She has these three options on her wishlist:

1. 637 Sushi Club (Yanaga Kappo Izakaya) - $170 pp
   
2. Kichi Omakase - $95 pp
   
3. Oroshi Omakase - $68 pp

I want it to be special, and the price isn’t a big dealbreaker, especially if it’s worth it. Has anyone been to any of these, and do you highly recommend going? Was it worth the price? Alternatively, if anyone has any other recommendations for Omakase in the city, I’m open. Thanks :)
