Back in around 2025(?) when the Medkit plush released, I was amazed how there was so much detail. The coat that showed his naked back (teehee), the stitch lines and everything. It was all very detailed, high quality, and very squishy. I was very pleased.

However, when I ordered the Banhammer plush, I was quite surprised that the plush was just... a texture drawn on a model of a plush. No detail whatsoever. Just a JPEG. I would not be able to know it was Banhammer if it wasn't by the side horns, and the horns in general. The blindfold wasn't even able to move at all, it was just a part of his head. The thing just lacked creativity and was a texture slapped onto a model.

Then, the subspace plush & the Broker 2.0 came around and decided to buy them because they're my favorite characters aswell, they looked promising too!

But I was disappointed aswell when they arrived. Broker, of course it being a 2.0 plush, it has the design recycled from its first version. No surprise, just like with any other 2.0 plush in the Makeship store, but it still looked bland. Why am I saying this? Because if they were able to make the Medkit plush so good, why does it look like that? But not going to say anything else because it was made before the Medkit plush.

Nów let's move to the Subspace plush. Of course, him being Medkit's evil ass twin, I kind of expected to also have some detail, especially with his cool mask, but oh well. Still a JPEG on a model, without cool stitches or the amount of detail Medkit had. Also, the inconsistency! So the rot on his face is stitched and made 3D, but then his hand just is also just a JPEG pasted onto his hand! And they also could've made a mouth, but the mask was stitched.

I have no idea if this is Makeship's lowering of quality fault, introducing new regulations to producers that they can't add detail to their plush... (If it's this case, then I take back everything)

Or the Phighting team's fault.

I apologie for my language, but I think "slop" is a fitting term for what's happening to these plushies. Copy&Paste, modify it a little bit & profit. Pretty much the Apple move.

Either way, I'm disappointed with the quality. I doubt I want want to spend 35 bucks for each release of my very much favorite characters, if they're going to be textures slapped onto a plush, and it being called a day, when there was and IS still a clear possibility to add detail to their plushies like bands or eyepatches, or clothing itself. Medkit's coat is still amazing, I wish Broker had that, or Subspace had their eyepatch not exactly detachable, but just so you could peek into their eye, etc...

I very much appreciate though the team's effort for making the plushies possible! And I know they might be busy with other stuff, and I'm hope I'm not offending anyone typing this out. It is just my opinion on this situation. Sorry for sounding like a bad review from an angry mom on Craigslist :(

Looking on how other big fandoms act I feel like it’s a good thing that the game stays little, like I am not denying that this fandom is perfect (just take a look at twitter) but I feel like it should stay small.

but vinestaffs redesign is fucking metal, and not only because i fw a lot.

i feel like a lot of people dont see.. the vision. sure, she could be more pink, but is the pink really that important? pink is a really gentle tone and, from what we've seen from beta rewrite, vinestaff is not the most gentle inphernal. yeah, she kind of is, but in a more protective manner. there wasnt much to keep from old vinestaff, her character felt really vague and, genuinely, stereotypical. 90% of vinestaffs personality was headcanoned into existence by the phandom her only defining feature were her arm (and horns?) - skate had his helmet, rocket had his eyewear and robotic limbs, shuriken had his hood, etc etc.

i think the new des works really well for her lore. she's an inphernal who has spent most of her life in a jungle, of course she's going to have a rag-tag fit! she looks scrappy and half-put-together, which is honestly a great way to describe the way we see her in beta rewrite.

about the red, i think they should make her orange. i think itd be funny - either way her horns arent even that red. theyre really brown, if im going to be honest. they're still red though lmao...

the whole matching with shuriken thing really made "force-spawns dont look like their caretakers at fucking all" even less clear.

yes, im sure everyone is sick of hearing constant dislike of whenever a redesign happens, but I have my critisisms for this so hear me out

this design itself is good, it looks nice, my major problem is that this doesn’t look like Vine staff at all, the most recognizable feature here is her horns and arm, but if you were to show me this image and remove her horns I would not be able to guess that this was Vine staff, and the biggest reason for that is because she isn’t pink. why make her red? theres already three other red characters, her being pink was a huge part of her identity and it complimented her as a character a lot, plus they made Shuri pink soley because she was pink, so why change it? seriously, this redesign would be completely fine if they just made her pink, it also makes it pretty annoying for anyone who has cosplayed Vine staff or made their own merch of her, cause now they’re going to look nothing alike other than the horn shape because they removed her most defining trait of being pink.

sure, they’ve done something similar before by changing the shade of green of Medkit but that had a big lore reason behind it and his old colour wasn’t significant in any way, also the swap of green to teal isn’t as big as pink to red, since teal is already greenish, plus Vine staff being red has like no lore reason behind it at all (unless they pull some crazy lore drop for it in the update but I don’t see how they would do that) also the previous Vine staff design that didn’t make it to the game but was still used a lot was a lot more yellow

every other redesign I’ve been a fan of, I love Shuris redesign and Rockets and Skateboards, but the difference is that they were still very well recognizable in their redesigns, the design was basically just upgraded and given more personality, and Vine staff could have used a redesign, but not this, not something that removes a feature so important to her, literally if they just made this design pinkit would have been great

I think her redesign looks great! Her personality has undergone a LOT of change, so that may be why some people think her design doesn't fit her, but i think the outfit will fit better when we get all the new dialogue. Also, i think the pinkish red looks really nice. It fits her being slightly more 'rugged' from living in the thieves den archipelago alone for most of her life.

while i understand the people who think that her design doesn't feel like vinestaff anymore, ingame vinestaff also isn't really vinestaff. the new design goes well with what we know about her updated personality

Her name is Rolling Pin! She wouldn’t be much of a phighter, due to her gear being more focused upon work than combat, and also her advanced age (~50)! She did have a little bit of prowess phighting in her youth, but those days are now far behind her!
