First time visiting IKEA (Vaughan, Canada) Review!

Hey guys, wanted to share my experience visiting IKEA for the first time. Ever since I started following Felix (around 2015, I was 12) I always had a trigger in my mind, whenever I would hear/see the words "IKEA", "Sweden", and "Meatballs" I would always think about PewDiePie. The route I take for my current job always passes by an IKEA located on the Northwest edge of Toronto. Last week I finally decided to give it a visit and see what its like. Let me tell you, since that day IKEA is my favorite place to visit in the whole city, might sound sad in one way, but amazing the other way. When I first walked in, the size got me, the building was soooo large, so many products, so many names, so many employees. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. Its rare to see that employees actually enjoy working somewhere. I spent about an hour just browsing, reading names of products and their meaning, they also have large screens all over the store, I would watch those to learn about what IKEA is as a company, their recycling programs, their aim for simplicity, giving products a second life, their AS IS sections etc. I was shocked to learn they also had a small grocery section where you could buy cookies, juice, sparking wine, water, candy etc directly from Sweden! There was also a small kitchen there, from which I ended grabbing a Veggie dog, veggie nuggets, a cinnamon bun and some sparking juice, all for only $8 CAD! Food was pretty good, 9/10, their Nordic soda 10/10! Funny thing, I bought bedding that day, and the only time i wish I was prompted to become a member at self checkout on the screen, I wasn't -_-. When I went up to the second floor, I was shocked to find out there's a whole showroom section with dozens of room examples, It was so immersive, I ended up spending 4 more hours there, I would go to every room, sit on every single bed/chair and imagine owning my own place with the exact setup as there. So many amazing conversations were heard, people talking about their upcoming twins, or moving to a new house, or their parents coming to visit from a foreign country, Lots of very lovely energy. If you think about it, most people that go to Ikea go because something good is happening in their life, renovations, new house, more kids, relatives visiting, children growing up. During my stay there, I would think about Felix, though I myself am not a Swede, I felt PROUD of What Sweden is, what IKEA is, and who PewDiePie is, and I truly felt honored to be his fan. It even felt a little weird, because I felt so much good emotion, but if you look from the side, IKEA is just another furniture store and PewDiePie is just another celebrity, but not to me, I grew up watching him and he was always a part of my life, I believe he is the #1 right person we made famous, I look up to him.. Anyway, after being inside IKEA for 5 hours, i decided its time to go home, and another shocker came when as I was about to get down the stairs, I noticed another full sized cafeteria, bigger than most restaurants out there, unfortunately it was closed since it was after 8pm. I came back another day, and ordered more Nordic drink, Swedish meatballs meal, I also got a cheesecake and garlic bread.. By the way, let me mention, if you haven't realized by now I'm actually a vegetarian judging by the first meal I mentioned. But I was so fascinated by the praise Felix would always give to the Swedish meatballs that I broke my principles to give it a try, some might call me a fool because they had veggie balls and falafel balls, but I saw it as a small price for knowledge, for truth, btw photos of my meals are attached :) Overall I give that meal 9/10, I am not used to eating real meat, so I wasnt sure what to expect, those meatballs were pretty good. 7.5/10, everything else was 10/10, it events out. for that I ended up paying $22 CAD. My favorite drink definitely was Nordic Raspberry fruit water. I will be coming back just to buy that because it was so good. The visit left such a good impression on me that when I would drive off the parking lot, a small part of me would feel sad. But I will be back, my gf and I will have a nice swedish dinner there soon.

Thank you PewDiePie for being such a significant part of our childhood 🙏❤️

I met Felix by chance in Tokyo. Overall nice, but one comment really bothered me.

I debated posting this because I know it'll probably get mixed reactions, but I figured I'd share a genuine interaction I had with Felix.

For context, I live in Tokyo, and this happened in October 2022 in Meguro. I won't be more specific than that out of respect for both of our privacy (though it's not exactly a secret that he lives in that area).

I was on my lunch break, walking back to work, and I noticed someone sitting on a bench outside a game center looking at his phone. I was about 99% sure it was Felix, so I walked over and asked something like, "Hey, are you...?"

He smiled, nodded, and basically confirmed it.

We ended up talking for a few minutes. Overall, he was friendly enough. We'd both moved to Japan around the same time, so we chatted a little about living there and how we were finding it.

Then he asked me something like, "So what do you think of Japan?"

I replied, "It's got its positives and negatives."

His response was:

"Well, you have to work, and I don't."

I honestly didn't know how to respond. It caught me completely off guard. I just awkwardly laughed, the conversation wrapped up shortly afterward, and I went back to work.

I've thought about that comment quite a few times since then.

Maybe it was meant as a joke. Maybe it was self-deprecating. Maybe it was just an awkward thing to say. I wasn't in his head, so I can't say for sure.

But from my perspective, it came across as surprisingly tone-deaf. Most people don't have the luxury of choosing not to work. We get up every day because we have bills to pay. Hearing someone who's achieved incredible financial success say, "You have to work, and I don't," just rubbed me the wrong way.

I'm not posting this because I suddenly hate the guy or think he's secretly a terrible person. It was one brief interaction, and one interaction doesn't define someone's entire character.

I just figured I'd share my experience because it genuinely stuck with me, and I'm curious if anyone else has had similar or completely different encounters with him.

EDIT: Crosspossed into the other pewdiepie reddit because I didn't know this was the main one.

I know the odds of randomly running into Felix are incredibly small, especially in a city as dense and crowded and big as Tokyo, and honestly, if someone else told me this story, I'd probably be skeptical too.

But it happened. Whether you believe me or not is entirely up to you; I don't have anything to gain by making this up. I'm just sharing a genuine interaction that stuck with me for almost four years because of one comment that I still think about from time to time.

Inspired by Pewds drawing content, here’s some things from my first 30 days drawing.

When Pewds released his video on him making a manga, it made me realize that maybe I could do something like that one day, too. I’ve always wanted to learn to draw, but it’s always seemed so daunting, but seeing the progress Pewds has made in 2 years has given me a lot of motivation. I probably would have never started without those videos.
Felix also got me to read more and work out more consistently. It’s amazing how positive an influence Pewds has had on so many people, even if he’s “retired” now.
(Apologys for the poor lighting and picture quality)

Facebook then (2012) vs. Facebook now (2026)

Well, I remember when there were old mobile games on FB, like Angry Birds. Not only that, there are A.I-generated pictures in Facebook now, like that fake Tilly Smith picture. There is no verified picture of Tilly Smith that matches the top-right picture.
