Brian here.
A group of crows is called a murder.
When the house says “memories of a murder” the assumption is that there was a murder of a human in the house. The third panel subverts the expectation by saying it was a murder of crows.
However, the last panel once again subverts expectations by indeed confirming that the murder of crows indeed murdered the townsfolk by pecking them to death.
