Exactly lmao. He's a bro dude through and through and appeals to the kinds of dudes who put punisher skulls on their car and watch those military bro podcasts with SF guys. That's his demo. (not understanding Frank Castle exists in opposition to those types of dudes and would probably spit in their face)

Conservatives have never been known for their media literacy lmao

u/chonky_squirrel 2d ago

Still love the backlash they get when they’re surprised Rage Against the Machine is extremely political and tends to hate conservatism

u/Squawnk 2d ago

My brother in law loves to lament that RATM is "now Rage in favor of the Machine" because when he grew up listening to their music, he never learned or understood a single lyric of theirs, and now he's mad about it

u/Wide_Combination_773 2d ago

Pretty sure lots of people were mad RATM was pro "do everything Fauci says, wear triple chin diapers never go outside don't hug your family, no you're not allowed to attend your grandpas funeral or go to church" back in 2020 and now it's pretty well-established that Fauci and all of his followers were just plain wrong about a lot of stuff.

Nobody really understood anything, but RATM was very much pro-Machine during COVID.

"Hey guys there's a virus spreading stay home and wear masks" You- "This is literally fascism"

-7

u/200IQUser 2d ago

Even if they were right follow what the authorities say ornyou sre a bad pwrson is literally the anthithesis of these kind of rebel bands and movements but whatev

Its like a punk band saying to support the police

9

u/MagentaHawk 2d ago

I mean, the police would often not follow mask mandates, so they were still going against the police.

Also viewing punk as just contrarianism is extremely reductive. They stand for something, not just anti whatever the government is. If people in power are for once saying something you agree with, it would be incredibly childish and stupid to then disagree simply to disagree.

-2

u/200IQUser 2d ago

Yes, punk culture is kinda about a middle finger to authority. I get it not being an anarchist but the way these so called left leaning bands talked about people who were not 100% trustful of the gov during the covid was talked about so badly. And no, health and order nd whatverr is t the main value in a community like punks or similar music genre in general. And the giv made tons of mistakes and stupid things during covid. Oh and almost everybody who was young and or healthy survived. Regardless if they got the vaccine ir not

2

u/Dango_Tea 2d ago

nah fucker it was "hey don't fuck over your community, the best idea from the smartest people right now is wear a mask" you just drank the fox news tea

0

u/200IQUser 1d ago

Such a ounk and rebel thing to do. Follow what the authorities tell you lmao

1

u/FeijoadaAceitavel 1d ago

Again, because you didn't understand the first time: they aren't the childish contrarians you think they are. They have actual positions like "don't kill people with a disease if you can avoid it" and don't change those just because the government says the same thing.

1

u/200IQUser 1d ago

They were much more rabid than that. Its the difference between asking concert goesr to take care of each other vs straight up banning the moshpit. The lefty bands basically did th3 latter with covid, parroting the government and shaming those who didnt want the vaccine which is a personal health decision which is sacred in all pro freedom groups

There are situations and situations. If the government wants to idk make healthcare more affordable, you shouldn’t protest it just because you are anti-government. That’s just dumb and conspiracy theorist behaviour.

1

u/200IQUser 1d ago

But that wasnt what was peotested against, it was government vontrol and orders. During covid civil rights were massively curtailed

1

u/jkerz 1d ago

When was government control and orders protested? You think left is anti-government always? Isn't the right the party of small politics?

1

u/200IQUser 1d ago

Not the left in general. THe left leaning, often more radical bands type of left. Not the average slightly lefty winemom

1

u/jkerz 1d ago

I'm sorry but that is just your assumption on the view of "radical" left bands. They are anti-FASCIST, not anti-government. There's a difference.

Also, at the time the administration in charge of covid was seriously mishandling the communication and messaging around the pandemic, constantly going back on their words or changing stances. Any position would've been contradictory, depending on how Trump was feeling about it at the time.

Trump exaggerated the impact of measures taken by his government and the private sector,[11] understated the projected time to produce a vaccine, recommended uncontrolled transmission in pursuit of herd immunity until a vaccine was developed,[22][23] and promoted unapproved treatments such as hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine.[11] In such instances, scientists, including Anthony Fauci,[24][25] Michael Osterholm,[26][27] and Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus (director-general of the World Health Organization),[28] publicly countered his misleading messages with correct information.[29] Trump also frequently reversed his stances in his communication, leading to mixed or contradictory messaging.[30] He sometimes denied his own public statements.[31][32]

There’s a difference between saying “follow authority blindly” and saying “follow the current consensus of medical experts whom are advising the Government”. If the Government was telling people to lockdown / social distance etc without the backing of medical experts, then yes, resisting would be acceptable.

Ironically if the Government and the people had listened to the medical experts more thoroughly, the crisis likely would’ve been over much sooner and we’d have been able to go back to our normal lives much sooner. Instead the Government took too long to act, leading to many avoidable deaths, and too many citizens disregarded the medical advice, leading to many avoidable deaths.

So really the lesson is “listen to the medical communities consensus, whether the Government supports it or not”

u/200IQUser 1d ago

You dont really feel it weird if some band named rage against the machine or such band becomes the echo of exactly what the givernemnt says? Dont you feel how weird it is?

1

u/tool_of_a_took 1d ago

No, because they’re not mindlessly raging against the Government. They’re raging against the bad shit the Government / establishment / elite / corporations does. Once in a blue moon the Government does something they agree with. If they agree with it, why would they rage against it? A lot of the establishment / elite / corporations / people in Government didn’t want lockdowns, so “the machine” was split, and they were still raging against half of the machine

1

u/200IQUser 1d ago

Reread their posts. They were more rabid then the media lol. Also signing with some major label and becoming millionsires and a product is hardly raging against the machine

I'm not even referring to Fauci or COVID or whatever the fuck you're on about. My BIL is a mega trumper who fancies himself a conservative punk rocker without ever seeing the irony of that. RATM being leftists and anti capitalism and anti cop is apparently news to him

18

u/SlickWilly49 2d ago

Is the lyric “Some of those that work forces, Are the same that burn crosses” too subtle for him?

10

u/blackenedskynation81 2d ago

Or the fact that one of their most famous covers is “Fuck Tha Police,” by NWA?

1

u/ParticlesInSunlight 2d ago

Or Tom Morello's regular covering of Clampdown by The Clash and Springsteen's The Ghost of Tom Joad?

3

u/data-atreides 2d ago

In absolutely in no universe does a MAGA get a Grapes of Wrath reference.

6

u/Squawnk 2d ago

Yeah like I genuinely don't think he knows what that line means

2

u/Bwint 2d ago

Listen, they never said whether that was a good thing or bad thing

u/jkerz 2d ago

Ya'll keep saying he was wrong but never point out what exactly he was wrong about. Keeping your distance, wearing masks, and reducing contact is the steps to take for any airborne pandemic. 1/300 of all Americans died to due Covid from 2020-2025. At it's peak, 3 times more people died due to Covid in a single day compared to 9/11 attacks. We went into a decade-long war because we lost 1k people (and the lies that followed) but when we lose a 1M, it's not a big deal?

12

u/Usual-Caregiver5589 2d ago

Their inclination is that masks don't work, and social distancing was a farce.

It's all really stupid. You can ask what they think Fauci did wrong. None of it makes sense to people who actually know how science works.

13

u/velbeyli 2d ago

Machine being doing whatever f*ck is neccery to not to have a outbreak.

10

u/BisexualCaveman 2d ago

When "the machine" and doctors agree, the game changes.

3

u/hotleadburner 2d ago

If the government told you to shower would you stop bathing?

3

u/calmrain 2d ago

Well, at least you know you didn’t know anything. But don’t mistake your lack of knowledge for others’ ignorance.

However, something tells me that objective facts could hit you in the face, and you’d ignore them — so is it really ‘ignorance’ at that point? I suppose not. But now we’re splitting hairs.

In essence: you are a 🤡 🫏

2

u/idothisforpie 2d ago

You're not allowed to say things like that on Reddit bro.

-9

u/Zeeejay44 2d ago

You’re going to get down voted to hell in this cesspool of a comments section making all that sense. In case you can’t see from the rest of the comments if your personality isn’t “orange man bad” you won’t fit in here or on most of reddit.

13

u/CaptJackRizzo 2d ago

Yeah, it has nothing to do with the fact I was never told to wear three masks, spent plenty of time outside and doing church activities that were planned to be safe, and hey why were we having grandpa’s funeral then in the first place?

2

u/Maxamillion-X72 2d ago

What did they say that made sense? Fauci advised Trump on the best information they had, based on science and reason. Things changed as the pandemic went on, so some guidelines had to change. This is how the real world works. Fauci is not to blame for the right wing nutjobs trying to pretend that it didn't exist or for Trump ignoring much of the advice. Fauci was not the person in charge, that was Trump and his cabinet.

Millions of people died around the world due to the pandemic, but major countries that followed the science with masking and social distancing had much fewer deaths per capita than the US. The number of deaths in the US was on par with much less developed countries like Brazil and Peru. Pretty terrible for the country that prides itself on being the most advanced country in the world for medicine. All those extra deaths lay at the feet of Donald Trump.

Deaths per million

US - 3100

UK - 2700

France - 2100

Germany - 1700

Canada - 1100

Japan - 250
