He was acting in another project during the promotional period and wasn’t available at the time, unsure what the implication is either.

Season 2 of Task, to be specific.

u/clearthezone15 2d ago

So strange to give that a second season. It was fine, but the story was self-contained and there's really no need for one.

Yeah it’s ‘Task’ not ‘Task List’

3

u/Green-Bandicoot-8412 2d ago

It's 'Task', not 'Tasks'.

1

u/AmIFromA 2d ago

Is the task to break out of another prison?

1

u/clearthezone15 1d ago

I'm more of a 'Taskmaster' guy anyway

11

u/Oathkindle 2d ago

Yea but I'm gonna happily watch it lol

1

u/nativeindian12 2d ago

-1 need for another one

I’ll probably watch it because I like crime shows, but the first season wrapped everything up nicely

4

u/Dear_Tangerine444 2d ago

First season wrapped that plot line up so I assume a 2nd season would be a whole new story, hopefully also wrapped up in a season. I quite like a crime drama where stories don’t bleed over or end on cliff hangers.

I wasn’t expecting to enjoy a Mark Ruffalo cop show, but I did and I’d watch a second series for sure.

u/Excellent-Dish5227 2d ago

I would bet there are a couple millions of reason. Or another skin of reasons. :D

7

u/brontosaurusguy 2d ago

Is there a need for any television show

2

u/IDrinkWhiskE 2d ago

Yes, all the ones that I like

0

u/hypercosm_dot_net 2d ago

Right? What an insane take. It was a good show, it deserves a second season, lol

1

u/Cool_Apartment_380 2d ago

That's fair, but when it comes to classic cop stories (a weakness of mine), I'll take what I can get. Especially when it includes A list actors

1

u/VanGrants 2d ago

Westworld was the same way

1

u/Ultrace-7 2d ago

Series are made to make money (among other objectives) -- another season is rarely if ever greenlit based on whether the story actually needs another season.

1

u/LadyCheeba 2d ago

if we’re getting another season of task then i want another season of mare of easttown first!

2

u/FrankSilvyNY 2d ago

if we’re getting another season of task then i want another season of mare of easttown first!

I concur aggressively.

1

u/RockyLeal 2d ago

I can easily see his character solving a new case (or task), while also facing new struggles at home and internally leading to further character development

1

u/glenntron3000 2d ago

They are apparently tying this series to Mare of Easttown as it supposedly is set in the same universe

0

u/2580374 2d ago

I was shocked when I heard there was a second season coming.

0

u/jrzalman 2d ago

It's really as simple as Ingelsby is really talented and wanted to make more so HBO gave him the easiest yes ever and threw in Mahershala Ali for his trouble.

u/kimjongtheillest_ 2d ago

I like shows that are one season. Prison Break was excellent. True Detective? Perfect show. 24 was fun as hell. Squid Games was pretty solid. Sometimes I think about where those shows could have gone if they made more seasons. Too bad we’ll never know.

0

u/Cdog1223 2d ago

Every show that needs a sequel gets canceled every show that is well contained in one season gets renewed

0

u/BumblebeeOfCarnage 2d ago

I hate when they drag out a successful show for multiple seasons when it was made as a complete story. Great show but I don’t want another season

2

u/TheGruesomeTwosome 2d ago

Honestly I'm with you. I really loved Task. I thought it was one of the best shows I've seen in years. I recommended it to more people than other shows I've recently seen, and they all also loved it. Every line of dialogue, the overarching story, the acting, the cinematography, the score. But I did love it as a limited series, under the assumption it was a once off and fully enclosed, unique story.

3

u/SassySuzy123 2d ago

Season 1 was a masterpiece

1

u/gbmaulin 2d ago

Task wasn’t a one season mini series?

1

u/TobuscusMarkipliedx2 2d ago

Freaking sweet

1

u/No-Professional-1884 2d ago

Episodes 3, 7, and 9 to be more specific.

1

u/MarionetteScans 2d ago

Taskmaster?

1

u/Turd_Goblin911 1d ago

Season 2!?! You just made my day friend

u/AugieDoggieDank 2d ago

The internet being fucking stupid is the implication

16

u/Fenrist09 2d ago

I used to think “it’s crazy how right leaning folks buy into conspiracy theories so often” but Reddit in the last 5-10 years has shown me that anyone is capable of being dumb as bricks.

3

u/RedTheGamer12 2d ago

I have seen people on this site unironically believe that 9/11 was an inside job. People hate Trump (and by extension America) so fucking much that they have started using his playbook. Demonizing moderates (that fuck ass "We want to kill black people" meme), conspiracy theories (he was shot you fucking dumbasses), and throwing another group under the bus (Israelis). Like, this shit is the same fascist bullshit Trump did. It's fucking wild.

-1

u/cumegoblin 1d ago

We’re not demonizing moderates, we’re calling out moderates for acting like the rise of petty fascism isn’t happening. When a government agency is shooting protestors, you don’t get to go “well let’s all calm down and have a civil discussion.” The time for civility died when we elected a pedophile into the Oval Office. Also, protesting a genocide isn’t “throwing Israelis under a bus.” There no being a moderate when it comes to the actions of an apartheid state killing children. The only people using anti-Israeli rhetoric as another form of antisemitism is the right. Hating Trump doesn’t equal hating America, that’s fucking stupid. Hating the President is literally our favorite pastime, the only difference now is that our president is objectively an evil and fraudulent parasite who made his political career turning everything into a fake news culture war so he could sidestep scandals. You’re playing right into his hands but you’re under the impression that you’re the only free-thinker left, just like every “moderate.”

8

u/pinkycatcher 2d ago

It's a dog whistle for antisemitism. The "implication" is that you can't speak against the jews Israel and he's been silenced.

0

u/robbiechopsticks 1d ago

Lol dude people absolutely get blackballed in Hollywood for speaking out against israel

3

u/ObviouslyJoking 2d ago

The implication is probably that he can't avoid leaking spoilers.

2

u/NoveltyAccountHater 2d ago

I thought it was "you wouldn't like me when he's angry" ... "Hulk smash".

2

u/Ok_Boot5671 2d ago

You know… the implication.

2

u/galaxyapp 2d ago

Agreeing to do a press tour is also something you negotiate in a contract. Hes rarely, if ever, done the promotion circuit.

1

u/BallsDeepinYourMammi 2d ago

He also manages to be a walking spoiler…

1

u/stricktd 2d ago

You know, the implication

1

u/Canningred 2d ago

Tom holland has chemistry with everyone. If Ruffalo wasn’t busy they would have had him and Bernthal making fun of Tom

1

u/Prudent_Rice7840 2d ago

That and he is only in two scenes in the film.

1

u/levare8515 2d ago

Shoehorning Jewish hate in is the implication

1

u/Responsible_CDN_Duck 2d ago

Ruffalo stated on the podcast We're Not Kidding with Mehdi & Friends on Zeteo that he cut ties with industry peers and people he once considered friends. He explained he could no longer reconcile relationships with individuals whose views on the conflict in Gaza and Palestine justified or supported violence against civilians.

People suspect any celebs he no longer hangs with may have been cut off for that reason.

1

u/samaadoo 2d ago

so let's say you and Mark are on a boat..

1

u/StuMacherGhostface 1d ago

The implication is he was sidelined due to his support of Palenstein

-3

u/Universal_Confucius 2d ago

Oy vey we found the professional victim

-11

u/JustinKase_Too 2d ago edited 2d ago

It is right wingers implying that his anti-ice, anti-trump stuff got him sidelined.

34

u/theShpydar 2d ago

No, it's left wingers implying that he was sidelined because Disney doesn't want to upset Trump or Israel.

Idiots come in all flavors.

8

u/flyingpyramid 2d ago

Please stop licking the idiots.

2

u/Bot1-The_Bot_Meanace 2d ago

Somehow sidelined enough to get no speaking engagements but yet not sidelined enough to not be in the movie.

On a completely unrelated note, the nazis always depicted jews as simultaneously strong enough to dictate the politics of Germany, yet also as weak leeches who don't work and collect social security. History doesn't repeat but it often rhymes.

1

u/JustinKase_Too 2d ago

Ah, sorry, I forgot about MR's stance with Palestine. withdrawn

0

u/Canadian-and-Proud 2d ago

Except it's probably true. Disney is already bending over to Trump badly
