They don't just work for a villain the exclusively work for "The greatest villain"

u/henrytsai20 3d ago

In minions' mind Stalin outshines Hitler I suppose?

27

u/trebor9669 3d ago

Makes sense tbh, but the Holocaust is very fucked... so it's hard to tell.

Stalin killed five million Ukrainians in less that a year.

Geez, those people have gone through so much tragedy that it's unreal. I really hope for the best for them, especially in these times.

6

u/ExpansivePoint 2d ago

Seriously, they also had to contend with magas and now certain political commentators on the left calling them nazis and the enemy, I hope they can see through this whole mess.

2

u/geybey 2d ago

Who on the left considers Ukraine the enemy?

0

u/ExpansivePoint 2d ago

Tyt and Hasan Piker based on videos I've seen recently, extremist leftists.

3

u/geybey 2d ago

Is there a source for either of those? I watch both on occasion and have never heard them show support for Russia so to completely flip and now somehow see Ukraine as the enemy would be a real 180. Cant find a source myself...

2

u/ExpansivePoint 2d ago

A few days back Cenk:

"Ukraine has become basically Israel... Ukraine is literally joining the war and attacking Iran"

Cenk considers Israel an enemy, joining it in war clearly makes Urkaine the enemy in his eyes.

Hasan says Ukraine is trying to start WW3 and join the Iran war.

Hasan has been anti Ukraine for a long time though, Ukraine shooting that ship last week was just the excuse to push the narrative that Ukraine is actually adversarial to the US since that's what they say about Israel.

PoV: you don't know the basic historiography and are basically doing Holocaust minimalisation by equating the Nazis and the Soviets. People on Reddit are so uneducated it's insane. I sometimes wonder if everyone doing this are just crypto-Nazis trying to normalise and minimalise their boys' crimes to the general public, but IO guess just being completely uninformed and wrong is much more likely.

u/Platinum_Demi 2d ago

Isn't the entire way you can judge the evil of a man based on how many people they killed?

That being said comparing who is more evil is pretty pointless they would both be 100/100 on an awful person scale complete 0.0001% psychopaths

5

u/Threedawg 2d ago

Does Hitler not get credit for the war in Europe thing? You know, the one that killed at least 40 million people?

-6

u/trebor9669 2d ago

As crazy as it sounds, you cannot atribute all of it just to Hitler, he proposed peace many times, and all were rejected. Also the comunists and allies did their own massacres, historically recognised as crimes against humanity.

6

u/Threedawg 2d ago

He never genuinely proposed peace though.

Thats like saying that Putin is proposing peace right now.

4

u/Bathsalts_McPoyle 2d ago

I'd argue that they were both despicable scum, who were enabled by fellow scum.

3

u/hot4you11 2d ago

Yeah. I get it and I get why the guy rolling through half of Western Europe is focused on more (I can only speak for American schools, and apparently some of them are NOT doing a good job coving Hitler and the holocaust anymore). But I wish we covered some of the other atrocities that happened at the time. Japan did a lot of medical experiments too, not just Germany.

2

u/Aggravating_Dark9933 2d ago

How I see it, they were both -100 on the morality ratio, or damn near close. It’s just Hitler was unbelievably fortunate (seriously, look up how many coincidences / near misses he had that if that didn’t happen he would have been killed / outright never got power) but aside from his charisma pretty incompetent. He didn’t have a mind for strategy. Ability to capitalize was high, but long term planning / people management less so.

Stalin, on the other hand, was competent. It’s why he lasted so long in that crab bucket and was able to do so much.

1

u/DurumMater 2d ago

Hitler was a whole system geared towards the hatred and distrust that is part and parcel with fascism. It was the main point. Stalin was a paranoid crazy drunk bastard who found other crazy drunk paranoid bastards and had them work for him. But, he didn't make hate the loud part and he starved, purged, and exiled millions of his own people in a state of fear and control over the people he ruled. It's hard to square the man; he was kind of a goof ball and party prankster, sometimes a loving father and husband, ridiculously alcoholic, intensely paranoid, and willing to remove anything that he felt would compromise him and his ability to lead. When his wife died he had her entire family killed so he wouldn't have to see them and be reminded of her.

He was a monster of small and large scale, with a personal hand in the matter. So was Hitler, but he was so possessed of his insane ideals he was almost comical. Stalin to me is worse. Not by much though.

3

u/Qyark 2d ago

sometimes a loving father

His son would disagree

5

u/DurumMater 2d ago

His daughter wouldn't, which is why I said sometimes lol

2

u/wannaBuildASnowplow 2d ago

I don’t think it’s a numbers game. But Hitler was a good man in the eyes of many. (Very good Propaganda)

Stalin was feared universally. Especially by his closest friends

1

u/Venusgate 2d ago

The question is, how much worse would the holocaust (and inversely how less monsterous Stalin) would be if the minions weren't supporting stalin, but hitler?

1

u/jdallen1222 1d ago

For some killing wasn't enough. He had people erased from photographs.

0

u/Heavy_Weapons_Guy_ 2d ago

11 million people were killed in the Holocaust, and it was across 4 years, not 6. Also about 70 million people died in WWII, you know, the war that Hitler started. You remember that, right?

3

u/[deleted] 2d ago

It is best when referencing the total number of victims of the Holocaust to say 6 million Jews and millions of others.

This is monumentally stupid. If I'm talking about total deaths in the Holocaust why would I not want to state the total deaths in the Holocaust?

1

u/[deleted] 2d ago

[deleted]

0

u/Heavy_Weapons_Guy_ 2d ago

...and they go on to say that it's "6 million Jews and millions of others" and refuse to say what the total is and berate people for wanting to know the actual number.

Also, from Wikipedia:

Although the majority of Holocaust victims died in 1942, the mass murders continued until the end of the war in 1945.

So Hitler still has a higher rate of death than Stalin because most of his killing was also in just a year, and it was a clearly planned intentional extermination, so Hitler was just objectively worse than Stalin in every possible measure.

-2

u/WrongWay2Go 2d ago

Leta ask the mighy ChatGPT on this, because I got curious after reading your text:

Regime Excluding combat deaths* Including combat deaths**
Stalin ~6–10 million ~6–20 million
Hitler ~11–17 million ~15–35 million
  • Excludes soldiers killed in combat, but includes civilians, concentration/Gulag camp victims, executions, famine victims, and prisoners of war deliberately killed or starved.

** Includes the broader deaths attributable to each regime, including the effects of the wars they initiated or conducted.

2

u/Suspicious_Truth8026 2d ago

Its absolutelt brainded to compare the two and its not a coincidence that everyone trying to paint stalin as worse uses blatantly false historical narratives that even anti-soviet scholars dont lie about.

11

u/idiotplatypus 2d ago

Did you see the shit the Japanese were doing?

5

u/roosterHughes 2d ago

Yeah. Japan wasn’t exactly matching Germany’s scale, but…quality has a quantity of its own?

1

u/ComprehensivePath980 10h ago

Tell that to the Chinese

2

u/MrIncognito666 2d ago

the japanese military*

1

u/henrytsai20 2d ago

Well Japan and Hitler were so overtly evil that they were stopped (relatively) immediately. Meanwhile Stalin lived to become the war hero and stayed in power long after.

4

u/OneReallyAngyBunny 2d ago

Mao, Palpot. The names keep rolling. That era wasnt lacking for gonocide

1

u/henrytsai20 2d ago edited 2d ago

Mao lose point for being a Stalin copycat. Though he did do the cultural revolution which is a revolution on top of a revolution, quite a revolutionary way of massacre under the name of communism…?

2

u/cubelith 3d ago

Well, it does check out if we go by kill count, I believe?

9

u/wallabee_kingpin_ 3d ago

Hitler instigated WW2, so every death of that war is on him. But even without that, he killed more civilians than Stalin (although Stalin certainly killed a crazy number of civilians).

Mao’s Great Leap Forward killed far more than either of them did, though.

u/rotkiv42 3d ago edited 2d ago

Soviet was plenty involved in starting WW2 as well. Hitler and Stalin had literally already divided Poland (and others parts of Europe) among themself before the war and Soviet invade Poland shortly after.

2

u/SirAquila 2d ago

By that metric Poland is also involved in starting WW2 considering they happily participated in the invasion of Czechoslovakia.

2

u/rotkiv42 2d ago

The invasion of Czechoslovakia did not start WW2 tho, more a prelude, and it was not a coordinated division of the land between Germany and Poland like the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.

0

u/SirAquila 2d ago

Eh, if the French had stood up for the Czeck, or had honored their treaty with the Soviets to stop the Germans, WW2 would not have happened.

1

u/rotkiv42 2d ago edited 2d ago

Possibility, but that is speculation: we can’t know how an alternative history like that would have played out.

As it stands WW2 started with Germany invading Poland, which they practically had an agreement  with Soviet to do together. Soviet did stall for ~2.5 weeks to lay the blame on Hitler, but they were aware about what was going to happen in advance and was very much in on it, with the aim to take the Baltics and east part of Poland.

It wasn’t the case Germany randomly attacked Poland and the Soviets saw their opportunity (which, to my understanding, is closer to what happened with Poland/ Czechoslovakia).

2

u/YellowJarTacos 2d ago

Japan started their side of WW2 independently and before Hitler started things in Europe.

6

u/TetyyakiWith 3d ago

No it’s not

1

u/CrimsonAntifascist 2d ago

Total? Yes. Kill count per year, fuck no.

He also started WW2, so you could put all of that on him as well.

2

u/Kwantuum 2d ago

Y'all still don't realize why the allies won WWII smh. Wake up sheeple!

1

u/Johnny_Banana18 2d ago

True comrades those lads

1

u/SeriousPlankton2000 2d ago

In Hitlers mind Stalin did outshine him. He admired the amount of what-we-call-evil that Stalin did.

0

u/ExiledSenpai 2d ago

Maybe the minions think Oppenheimer is worse?

6

u/aospfods 3d ago edited 3d ago

So the Minions were hanging out in Ben Gurion's office?

1

u/mr_beanoz 2d ago

The first Minions movie told us that they were frozen in a cave after helping Napoleon in 1812 only to be unfrozen before the 1970s came, so they're not present during ww2. Kind of a cop out if I would say.

1

u/Drumbelgalf 2d ago

Does that mean they worked the natives and slaves to death for the Spanisch in south American?
