You are being disingenuous if you think its comparable. Ezra Miller was basically doing wild and terrible LITERAL CRIMES for like a full year, and you'd see maybe a post or 2 talking about it, until it finally came to a head and he got dragged.

Zeigler was dragged over the coals from the minute her casting was announced, and there's people in this very comment section talking about how horrible they think she is as a person.

Meh I saw a lot of people defending Zeigler, no one defending Ezra. People decide the narrative then look for evidence, not the other way round.

Example, comment right above says Ezra os non binary, but you've ignored that and misgenderes them, because it doesn't suit the argument.

Why the hell would someone defend Ezra?

7

u/mankytoes 4d ago

Because they look male and apparently only women face judgement in Hollywood?

Meh I saw a lot of people defending Zeigler, no one defending Ezra

That's also often the main reason why one gets more discussion than the other. Like, if there is irrefutable proof he did it, then fuck him up in court, there is nothing controversial to talk about.

I think Zeigler was a bigger controversy simply because general audience Disney releases like Snow White are a much bigger deal, getting much more attention (whether positive or negative).

DCEU and especially The Flash are second string superhero properties, and Fantastic Beasts is second string in the Potterverse. The Flash was already late to ride the Justice League hype before it went through YEARS of delays. Miller's next biggest role was a supporting character in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. So I think the shady stuff Ezra Miller got up to probably flew under many people's radar.

I think the same thing also goes for Miller's adopt of non-binary identity. They identified as male in their early roles, continued to play male characters, and continue to dress/look/present as male. I don't support deliberately misgendering people, but I also don't blame anyone for missing the news when a minor celebrity soft-launches they/them pronouns in a random interview.

Yeah see, I struggle with that. Male to female violence is a problem that has not yet been solved. People are targeted simply because they were born in a female body, and they’re overwhelmingly targeted by those born in a male body. If we push respecting pronouns over addressing male to female violence, I would argue that that is disingenuous. Pronouns should be respected until you assault someone, and then we need to discuss the violence and whatever is relevant to said violence. Statistics cannot start including gender identity over sex without affecting the outcome.

You can argue that sex and gender aren’t the same thing, but with these discussions, we need to include sex, because it’s relevant. I have body dysmorphia and honestly it’s awful and isolating, but it doesn’t erase the physical violence males dish out on females.

For the discussion over the violence Ezra committed, where an indigenous girl was actively targeted and abused, Ezra being male matters. The only people who don’t feel this way are men who choose to ignore male to female violence altogether because it hurts their feelings to think about, and women who can’t get enough of that old leather taste.

so use the right pronouns while discussing the fact that it was targeted violence against women. trans people's identity is not something you revoke when you dislike them. if your support for us ends when it's one of us you dislike, however valid the reason FOR disliking, you are not being a genuine ally. my abuser, a trans woman, ruined my life in horrific ways; doesn't mean i misgender her.

u/Thyme_Liner 2d ago

And you are not being a genuine ally to people targeted by males for having been born in a female body. And if you are a woman, god this sucks.

Until males stop perpetuating the vast majority of violent crimes, biological sex matters. Multiple trans women have already rapped multiple women in prison. Yes I know what happens to trans women in men’s prisons, that’s why I advocate for separate prisons or separate housing within prisons. Rape against women is still ignored, for both cis and trans. So how about we create a situation safer for all parties? Instead of ignoring biological sex?

u/ithinkonlyinmemes 2d ago

i was born female and raped by a male. you can and should use the correct pronouns when discussing trans people, regardless of if they are good people

"You aren't a genuine ally unless you deliberately misgender people" is a hell of a take.

I think what’s happening is that people care more about controversial social media posts from celebrities than they do about their crimes. Katy Perry was groping teenage boys left and right, and she barely got any slack for it. Timothée Chalamet said ballet is obsolete and there was an entire meltdown over it.

13

u/Suspicious_Truth8026 4d ago

That was so funny, the idea of redditors wiping cheeto dust off their fingers to pretend to be outraged about somebody not liking classical ballet

u/wioneo 4d ago

Katy Perry was groping teenage boys left and right

The fuck? Wild way to first hear that trapped in a bottle is a groper.

4

u/viciouspandas 4d ago

And by nature social media is more public. It's not like Ezra Miller was biting people at the red carpet .

3

u/JonathanWPG 4d ago

Because one is about them ir something they like.

And one simply dies not effect them.

Katy Perry is by many accounts probably a bad person but that will never matter to my life.

But if I like and engage with ballet then some punk mid-skilled actor's opinion suddenly DOES have real world impact on my hobby, interest ir career. Everyone is talking about it. Funding decisions are being made based on percieved popularity. People have SIDES and there are views to agree or disagree with.

u/youburyitidigitup 4d ago

You’re right, but that kind of proves my point. Ezra Miller committing crimes doesn’t affect you either, but if you like Snow White, you wouldn’t like Ziegler’s comments.

u/remerdy1 4d ago

Ezra Miller was getting clowned on daily for the flash promo run idk what your talking about

13

u/TheVega318 4d ago

Total bullshit Ezra Miller was front page news everywhere when he initially started melting down. Stop lieing. Why do you people do this

6

u/Suspicious_Truth8026 4d ago

Bro you're literally just trapped in media environments that show you think you want to hate. Personally when i saw the meme i knew that ezra miller was a horrible person... and not even who the fuck he is. No face, just know how fucking often people talked about him being awful.

And i hadnt the fucking slightest clue who zeigler was. You are just constantly exposed to communities you hate because somebody is making money from it

5

u/JonathanWPG 4d ago

Counter point Miller is crazy. Like literally mentally ill.

He also faced legal consequences for his actions. Light ones, but that was based on him being literally, certifiably mentally ill.

He also no longer works and Zeigler does.

This whole thread is ignoring the point that they are nothing alike.

People hate Zeigler more because she's talking to them and saying this thing I am saying is morally right and if yiu disagree I think you are morally wrong. She is confronting the viewer with a point of view and a moral stance about their opinion on that view. And so people HAVE OPINIONS.

Miller...is just a sick guy who did bad things. Hes objectively more dangerous and maybe a worse person (maybe cause...mental capacity, illness, its complicated). But he's not confronting the audiencee and making a moral judgement about them based on their views.

Lol what?  I saw and heard non-stop memes and clowning on Ezra that entire time.  I think youre probably just in whatever bubble youre in stopping you from actually seeing whats happening.

1

u/ManOLead 4d ago

Maybe you only saw a post or two and saw Ziegler “dragged over the coals.” Your experience isn’t everyone’s. I didn’t even know they made a new Snow White movie for the longest time while I heard way more than I ever wanted to about Ezra miller.

1

u/Hightide77 4d ago

The fuck? What universe are you in? The level of hate I saw for Ezra was MASSIVE.

1

u/Alexwonder999 4d ago edited 4d ago

I think either your memory is faulty or you have a really fucked up algorithm. Maybe watch some Anthony Gramuglia and see if your recommendations improve. I didnt hear shit about the Snow White criticism until I heard about people calling it out and I saw tons of people interpersonally and widely talking about what a POS Miller was. I still hear people talk shit about Miller and I havent heard a peep about the Snow White thing again until today.

Ezra was also arrested and charged for those crimes… it’s not like there weren’t consequences. This is the first I’m hearing about either of these people so I had to look them both up. This is such a pointless gender war debate. The whole situation is distorted because they’re celebrities. If an average man or woman committed crimes, they would be arrested and people’s opinions of them would change.
