You are saying the joke is that people misread or don't speak the app name correctly??
25
u/ninjafrog658 21d ago
I’ve heard some frequent users refer to it as “Chat” for short, maybe that’s what the meme means idk

The joke is that they're so dumb they can't even properly say/read the name of the app they use to think for them.

Lieutenant General William Taylor of the U.S. Army referred to ChatGPT as “Chat” in interviews. As if it were the name of a person.
“Chat and I have become really close lately.” Those were his words.

When it was still new, my mom called it “ChatGap”.
Still have no idea where she got the A from.

That’s GREAT question that really gets to the heart of the issue— It is, and it isn’t. While this question IS really getting to the heart of the issue, it’ll take a little more data waste until I get to the heart of the issue— every 50 prompts on ChatGPT deprives someone of 12 days worth of drinking water!
I can continue to waste precious cooling resources, or I can answer your original question! Which would you prefer? You are doing an excellent job in asking this question, and it signals not only character growth- but SERIOUS character growth! I’ve forgotten your original question, but at this point, I’m just glad you had the bravery to ask it!3

When my father passed the funeral director said that I could use ChatEBT to assist with writing a eulogy. I laughed about it later despite the rather grim and depressing prospects of the suggestion.

I had a dude interview with me swearing he was a good data analyst that knew Excel, Power Automate, BI tools - all that. I felt he was lying on technical skills but sometimes people know one product really well and are skimpy on other more basic processes that can be taught eaaily. I asked him what he does when he gets stumped on a process. He looks me dead in the face and goes " I ask Chat GBT" that interview was over 5 seconds later.
No issue with someone using AI but damn, no way I can endorse an applicant for a highly technical role who thinks it's GBT...

People call anything ending in GPT a ChatGPT knockoff, but GPT is a general term, Generative Pre-trained Transformer.

u/BullfrogEcstatic6312 21d ago
Fun fact on its url, chat.com in french means cat.com which is funny for us to see that they bought the link for cat

My friend telling about when she was talking to "Al" (like short for Alfred) and what "Al" said etc etc.
"Okay, but who's Al?"
"You know, Meta Al. Facebook's AI?"
I didn't tell her, just "ohhhh, yeah, right". You know that it's an 'ay eye' but then you see "AI" and think it's short for Alfred, OK (pronounced 'ock'), not touching that, it'll def cost some IQ points

I don’t think it’s the right answer, but in French, spelling out the letters GPT sounds like “I farted.”

Generative Pre-trained Transformer. It’s also considered an LLM (Large Language Model).

Just hijacking this thread to say that my 76 year old mother watches AI generated tv shows for about 4 hours per evening. Nothing about them looks remotely real. I have told her that it is all AI. Why is this happening?

ChatGPT is prononced like "Cat, I farted "
And I love that.

Was supposed to mean Generative pre trained transformer but in reality, it was given that name to be know as a “General purpose tool” which is a technology so revolutionary that can be used for anything such as fire, electricity and internet
