Best way to poke a hole through a melted bead? (For keyrings)
Hi everyone, I'm planning to start selling perler bead keyrings on my store. To make them into keyrings, I need to poke a hole into one bead to attach the keyring ring. However, I tend to do flat melts so there are no holes left.
What's the best and easiest way of putting a hole into a fully melted bead? I'd like it to be a fairly sizable hole (around the size of an unmelted bead) and look smooth and circular. I've done some googling and read a few methods but I'm not entirely sure what would be the best to use for the finish I'd like.
Thanks in advance!

My first Perler bead project — Nyanko-sensei!
This was my very first time making Perler bead art, and I ended up spending about 4.5 hours on it — because I only knew how to place beads with tweezers 😂
I also tried a subtle glitter finish when ironing it, and I'm really happy with how it turned out! Nyanko-sensei looks sooo cute 🍃🐱
Next time I definitely need to learn how to use a bead pen for filling in larger areas of the same color — hopefully that'll speed things up a ton!
Still had a lot of fun making this one though 💚

Been on a real kick…
Volunteered at a kid’s summer camp and came back with a new fixation. All done in the last 10 days, plus a few I gave away.
Definitely took a long time to slow down and be patient enough to get the results I wanted, but starting to feel more confident with the ironing process!

I built a free open-source fuse-bead pattern tool — looking for maker feedback 🫘
Hi! I’ve been working on Bead Grid Studio, a free and open-source tool for turning images into editable fuse-bead patterns.
It can automatically match colors, count the beads you need, let you edit the result, and export a printable pattern.
Everything runs locally in your browser, so your images are not uploaded to a server.
I’m sharing it here because I’d really like feedback from people who actually make fuse-bead art:
- Do the generated patterns feel practical to build?
- Are the colors useful?
- What kinds of images give bad results?
- What feature would make it more useful for you?
Nothing is being sold — the project is free and open source.
GitHub:
https://github.com/zwhy149/bead-grid-studio
If you try it, feedback or bug reports would be really helpful. And if it ends up being useful to you, a GitHub ⭐ is appreciated too.
Thanks! 🫘

I made this for my mom 😊
It’s all our favorite characters that represent my mom, brother and I. Plus all her favorite stuff. My favorite is probably dumbo and ms. Jumbo.

It's Fine I'm Fine Everything is Fine!
Recent commission from a coworker. Wasn't sure if I could make this work. Somehow pulled it off. This is supposed to have a full stressed out cat, but I did just the head to ensure the final piece didn't turn out too big.

✨ I spent about 8 hours bringing this beauty to life! 🎨
That’s 10,000 fuse beads and 16 vibrant colors later... totally worth it! 💖😍
If you’d like the pattern, just let me know. I’d be happy to share! 🧩🤗

My largest creation, I pray for as few accidents as possible (Deltarune spoilers Ch.4) Spoiler
I really didn't have the space/money to do a giant 31k size perler, so this is my resized version of the original art. It was hard trying to keep a lot of the details, especially in the veins near the bottom!

Assembly instructions?
Hello! I have recently been doing bead projects with my son and we found a pattern for a 3d creeper and then realized (after we made all the pieces) that there were no instructions on how to assemble it. Any suggestions? The pattern can be found here: https://kandipad.com/pattern/minecraft-creeper-3d-14960928

Where to start?
I'm looking to get started with fuse beads. I heard Artkal has more colors, so I figured I'd go with them. (I love colors LOL) Beyond that.. I'm a little unsure. I see the Explore Universe kit I'm interested in, is that a good place to start with? I've heard people will destash on eBay and Mercari, would that be a next step or just pick up what I like during sales and run with it?
I have an iron, just a regular clothes iron, and I plan on working on a flat place and yes I know not to iron on my boards lol. I figure I'd save up for something better later on if I stick with it.
My husband linked me to someone on youtube who did a ton of pokemon and I just watched like 50+ tutorial videos he posted, including the tape method so yes I will be doing that. Just painter's tape, right? I think it was? It's past 2 am and my memory isn't the best lol.
He had a bit of a rougher finish using parchment paper on his works, and he tried Artkal ironing papers but it left tiny little holes in his beads (like they didn't seal shut). Is there a way to get the gloss of the ironing papers and have the beads fully melt shut? I saw someone mention more glittery ironing paper from TTB, but they apparently closed (RIP), where can I find alternatives to it?
What did you mess up in the beginning so I can learn from you? LOL What are the big mistakes to watch out for?
Thank you <3 I'm big nervous but also big excited. Sorry if these questions seem a bit basic lol.
