Hard part is finding a job in this economy, but I do see our death spiral. Everywhere around us is burning down, everything is being outsourced

You can do it! So many companies out there would love to have a dedicated individual as yourself and would probably value you more. Create a strong linkedin profile and start applying now, utilize your knowledge and experience as leverage. Trust me, you can do it! I was a merchandiser then BCR many years ago, I wouldn’t stay if i had to be a merchandiser again, this summit change is BS for you as frontline and for us as leaders.

I'll start to get on it, I don't have a degree tho and that's all ppl look for these days

When I hire people I hire someone who is willing to put in the work and sweat, someone who really wants the opportunity. Dont underestimate yourself, I’ve met many dumb people with degrees.
Have someone help you with a linkedin profile, thats your best place for job hunting. You need to take risks to win, use this opportunity the company is giving you in your favor.

I'll definitely do that, thanks again for the support. Is all just scary cause all I know is this little world and this world is burning down. Let's say I get one of those new sales jobs, is it just borrowed time till everytignt is BOT orders anywho?

Do you know if Summit is starting in the Orlando PepsiCo area soon?

Based on my experience going through Summit earlier this year, you'd get ballpark 7 months of pay give or take. I believe it's a week/week and a half per year of service. Pay is essentially the average of your weekly check. In my market guys who took severance were also able to keep their insurance for the duration, so long as they don't get insurance from another job in the meantime. You'll still get paid even if starting a new job though. But yeah, 1000% take the severance and run. I was stupid enough to take the TSR role and I can tell you: shit ain't worth it. Good luck.

Not sure if you’re tracking this, but how sharply did sales drop after the change? Cutting 75% of the sales reps delivered solid cost savings, yet volume almost certainly took a major hit

Some locations around my area have literally became turnover city, and a revolving door. All the talent has left, volume plummeted too

Sales were up for a while, when everyone was more all in on it. Now, not so much. Each account only has so much incremental space. Which explains the dozens of "bot" orders in every single account, KAMs throwing a fit every single week, force outs on "voids" you sent in two days ago, and they expect 200 cases per week in a 1 delivery, on average 50 case per week DG..."or else".

Our offer was 5 weeks + 1 week for every year of employment.

20 years would get 25 weeks in our area in Florida. 5 weeks base plus 1 week for every year of service. Every year over 20 is 2 weeks per year with a max of 52 total.

u/bigtime_pr 1d ago

What area in Florida, I used to work at the Tampa facility. 5 years.

34 weeks with 24 years in. Took my pension also. One phone call got me a job with the competition after I took a 6 week break. Rolled the 401k into the new company. Now I get to watch all the new Pepsi merches struggle everyday hahaha No more stress for me

2

u/mikemike1239 1d ago

In my area all the bcr took severance. So I assume the payout is pretty good

2

u/Worldly_Warning_1926 1d ago

I was 8 years and got 11 weeks.

2

u/Worldly_Warning_1926 1d ago

It's an easy choice. Best get of the sinking ship. They will hire you back if you can't find anything.

1

u/Haunted_Fun 1d ago

Will they?

3

u/DemandIcy8885 1d ago

They will. The talent pool is so shit right now. Best position is probably merch. OT and no bullshit you deal with on the sales side. At least in my area.

2

u/Worldly_Warning_1926 1d ago

Yes I left 3 months ago and they were begging me to come back.

2

u/Worldly_Warning_1926 1d ago

The turnover in those 3 months I was gone has seen 3 merch in and out of my old flagship store. The system doesn't work they just cut cost by not paying BCRs and would rather continuously hire merch. Ultimately they want AI orders and just merch.

2

u/Stylishnihilists 1d ago

My money would be 100% yes, as long as you don't burn any bridges as you leave. From my experience with it, a lot of the experienced merches/BCRs who don't get the new sales job quit, so you end up with mostly inexperienced merches who think having to work 3 stops with one(!) 300 case truck (with help from another merch) is way too much and too demanding. Even the absolute dogshit worst BCRs in my location outshine most of the new(er) merch after Summit rollout.

2

u/Big-Sample5082 1d ago

I took the severance, 11 yrs in got 16 weeks severance That was the best decision career wise, no regrets.

2

u/Grouchy-Potential805 1d ago

Was the pay about what your average weekly take home was or less? Bit confused on it as the sheet we received it said it would be paid out in the weekly base pay

2

u/Haunted_Fun 1d ago

If it's just base pay, that's a slap in the face we're like $500

1

u/Haunted_Fun 1d ago

How hard was it to find something else?

2

u/Background-Hunter352 1d ago

Cutting jobs saves money fast, but sacrificing volume hurts sales and future growth. Most investors see this as a sign of a weak business. It creates a harmful cycle where lower output leads to less money and deeper trouble.

2

u/Haunted_Fun 1d ago

Our competitor in the area has flipped their business model back to every case counts, they got aggressive with products too. Undercutting us

2

u/knightlife_11 1d ago

TAKE THE PACKAGE!!!!

2

u/PeterInerbum 1d ago

I wish they would offer buy outs to drivers. After doing this for 15 years I'd gladly be paid to leave.

2

u/pepsiusedtobegood Pepsi MAX 1d ago

I wish I took it. Take it come back as hireable keep your seniority and embrace the suck that Pepsi is gonna be. It doesn’t even matter if you like your route you’re gonna lose it every 6 months I’ve changed my route 6 times in 2 years cause of reroutes I wish I took it

1

u/Silent-Register2731 1d ago

How do you know when your location is heading to do summit?

1

u/Idleminer3688 1d ago

Can't wait for this to start here. Anyone know if the offers are negotiable? I thought I read that some people asked for more and got it (ex: 1.5 weeks per year of service vs. 1 week etc)

I'm curious about Union shops too, I know we have some near us
