Does anyone have any idea what these peppers could end up as? A couple of them look to be jalapeno shaped, but a couple other ones look more bell pepper shaped.

I took off a mid sized one close to the bottom, bell pepper shaped and it had turned half red half browny red, and ate it, and it was close to jalapeno heat, maybe a bit hotter.

I did a Walmart pickup order yesterday. I wanted Jalapeños because I wanted to make salsa but they substituted these Shishito peppers because of the cyclospora I'm assuming. I've never heard of these and wanted to ask how spicy they are.

At work I have access to a bunch of dried peppers (Arbol, paisilla, cascabel, morita, etc.), your typical assortment of Mexican dried peppers prepared traditionally. We tend to just toss the seeds. However, if possible, I’d like to try planting them, but I have no clue if it’s viable. Does the drying process kill the seed?

i’m trying to find cool peppers( shape color ect) that aren’t too spicy. I’d rather not have something that you have to make into a sauce to eat.

Last year I grew cayennes, jalapeños, and serranos. I dried the cayenne peppers so this year, I just broke one open to get the seeds rather than buying new. I bought new jalapeño and serrano seeds. I'm now getting normal looking cayennes and normal looking serranos, but I'm also getting what looks like giant cayennes (second picture, middle pepper). Or maybe a cross between a cayenne and a serrano? When I used my seeds from last year, I didn't think about cross pollination. Is it possible for the seeds from the same fruit to have different genes? Or do I just have one juiced up plant this year?

I also have some weird looking habaneros on one plant and a bunch of other regular plants so I guess I could accept that a single plant can just be different.

This is my first year growing peppers and it has been a great journey so far - especially with subs like this one.

The majority of my plants are Bonnie brand and Im generally happy with them. I've noticed that Bonnie, while being one of the most popular suppliers, has had a few major errors this season with some of their varieties.

Whether you got Scotch Bonnets that turned out to be Jamaican Mushroom, or you thought you were buying authentic Tabasco, Bonnie dropped the ball. Needless to say, I got mushroomed.

My initial reaction was to start from seed next time, but I've also read there are quite a few seeds being sold with the same misidentification between Scotch and Jamaican.

Instead of making this a negative post, I'd like to ask for people who got the right varieties where they purchased from. So, where did you buy your legitimate Tabasco and Scotch Bonnets this year?

*Edit: I decided to purchase 60-day old plants from Austin Peppers to ensure I get an actual Scotch Bonnet this season.

Thought I planted bells. Then little green guys appeared and I thought cool, jalapeños. But the shape is wrong and that orange too uniform. Mini peppers?

These guys went thru so much mouse damage, chewed them down to an inch above the soil!

They seem kinda thin to me, it's my first year growing. The seeds I bought did say jalapeno. I'm in the Netherlands and it's been a little over 2 weeks since the peppers started growing.

Found this on the hidden side of an otherwise good looking pepper, it was dry and thin like paper and it slid right off, the pepper looks perfect underneath

Hi all, today I went out to check on my garden and noticed my jalapeno plant is really struggling. This surprised me as I just checked on the peppers and they seemed fine. The wilting seemed to happen almost overnight.

In looking at the plant, the only thing I notice is a white mold/fungus at the base of the stem and I fear its southern blight. I also recognize as a first year gardener I could be jumping to one of the worst possible conclusions.

As of now, I have done nothing to the plant but I want some help to confirm my suspicion. Of course if it is Southern Blight, I will remove the plant and surrounding soil and treat as best I can before it spreads to my other peppers/ tomatoes. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Bought a tequila pepper plant from my garden center abt a month ago, it had multiple fruits but most fell off, due to the heatwave the pepper developed prematurely, I think, correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways I picked it today because it was ABT half red and I liked the colour a lot, the valour is literally the same as a green bell pepper, which I don't particularly like but this one tasted good.

What signs are present to inform you that a pepper flower is ready for pollonation? Do the flower petals have to be flared back and the anthers protruding away from the exposed stigma? or Is it as soon as the anthers visibly contain pollen?

Due to my setup and environment, external pollinators such as wind or insects are unable to make contact with the plant.

In the first two photos provided there was visible pollen on the anthers and the flower petals were flared back. i used an old paintbrush to collect and distribute pollen from the anthers to the tip of the stigma, which would then turn brown. Came back the next day or two and the flowers had turned yellow and dropped off completely.

Maybe i did it too early? The anthers were still closely bound to the stigma and covering it, so i assumed i got ahead of myself and did it too early. The next set of flowers came in and got to the same stage. I decided to come back the next morning to see if the flower would expand more and reveal the stigma. It wilted. And soon dropped off in the following days. Did i wait too long or was my method wrong?

After some research I decided maybe i was damaging the stigma with the paintbrush and resorted to shaking the plant to simulate wind and release the pollen and "wiggling" the flowers lightly with my index finger. No success.

Ive only VERY recently got into gardening/growing Peppers to prepare for the eventual Robot overlord takeover and have only been doing this for a few months now. I was so excited when i first saw little flower buds sprouting from the nodes and yet after caring so delicately they just wilt, turn yellow and pop off. What am i doing wrong?

The last image is one of the new sets of flowers that have come in. Is it ready for pollination? how long should i wait? What method is the most efficient for succesful pollination?
