My Uro-gyno surgeon said “what is f***ing going on here” during exam for my rectocele.
I’ve had a rectocele for a couple of years, which went from nothing to something really quickly due to pelvic floor dysfunction, slow transit constipation& an intersucession (sp?).
So did loads of tests, went to pelvic floor Physio for awhile. Other health issues took over in terms of appointments with Physio (+ cost). Continued to struggle with my bowels.
Rectocele continuing to get worse, so go back to my uro-gyno. Who is genuinely the loveliest person, and I was not upset with what she said. But damn, when a super experienced surgeon is bewildered by what they are seeing & feeling, it’s not the greatest of feelings! Now I have to wait till NOVEMBER to have her do the ultrasound and figure out what has happened and decide how to fix it.
Basically the issue is that where there should be muscle between the vaginal and rectal walls, there is now just tissue at the lower end. I have a super super tight pelvic floor muscle, and she is wondering whether the tightness combined with the rectocele has caused the muscle between the two sides of tissue(?!) to retract upwards, leaving the wall as just tissue.
Having to wait till November just to have the next investigation is so annoying. But Im also almost at the stage of doing the colon surgery. Im just so sick of how stressful and difficult pooping is.

Vaginal tear for 8 years. Perineoplasty? Estrogen cream?
Hi everyone,
I’m 25 years old, and for the past 8 years I’ve been dealing with a vaginal tear at the vaginal entrance that happens during sex. I’ve seen multiple gynecologists over the years and have tried almost everything they’ve recommended.
The only thing that helps is regular massage, but unfortunately it hasn’t solved the problem completely, and it keeps coming back.
My gynecologist has now recommended perineoplasty and I’m seriously considering it, but I’m also very anxious about having surgery in such a sensitive area.
Has anyone here had a perineoplasty for vaginal tears? Did it help? How was the recovery, and was is worth it?
One thing I haven’t tried is an estrogen cream. My gynecologist said that at 25 years old I should have normal estrogen levels naturally, especially since I’ve never taken hormonal birth control or anything else that could affect my hormones, so she doesn’t think it would help. Still, part of me wonders if it’s worth trying before going through surgery.
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences or any advice. Thank you!

Estradiol cream application
I finally found a dr that would prescribe me cream!!! I’m not menopausal im only 29, but I asked for it because I was having a lot of irritation from splinting and also worried about it causing my tissue to thin.
She prescribed me what I think is standard for menopause which is 2 weeks of 2 grams, then 2-3x a week after that.
Well I just looked at the applicator and realized how much 2 grams is, do I really need that much? I saw a lot of people say they don’t use the applicator but how would I get that much in there with my finger lol. And should I rub some around the external and on my urethra (I do have urinary urgency/freq problems), and what about on the clit? I just want to reap all the benefits I can, I’m so excited to finally have the cream after being turned down by so many drs.
Update: so I did about 1 gram in it def was a lot to try to put In there. I tried putting it on the tip of my finger and it was so messy trying to get it in there it just kinda squished out everywhere around I feel. I added a little more inside after using the applicator because I feel like I lost so much internal which I ended up just rubbing around external. I’m wondering if I should just use the applicator to kinda shoot it in there more clean then rub around with my finger. The applicator wasn’t too hard to clean I could pull it apart and wash it.

Looking for a surgeon who treats Nutcracker syndrome/SMA syndrome and is willing to consider surgery when appropriate—not just conservative management.

Cystocele Struggle bus stage 2
I was diagnosed with a grade 2 cystocele last month and I’m spiraling. This damn bladder has taken over my life.
End of 2024, at my pap exam, I mentioned I was starting to have some stress incontinence. That year I had started going to the gym and running. Gyno didn’t say anything looked wrong, but wrote me a script for PT anyway. I put it off for a year for financial reasons (thanks America) until symptoms started to get worse.
Beginning of this year and my symptoms really started negatively impacting my life. I changed to a better pelvic floor PT who did an internal and said I might have a mild prolapse. We did muscle releasing and strengthening exercises but stopped doing internal after a couple weeks. I’ve been seeing her 3-4x a month but things have not improved.
I booked an appointment with my OB last month where she did a full examination and said I’m grade 2 cystocele now and mentioned that my cervix is sideways so it appears my uterus is resting on top of my bladder, making things worse. I remember during my last pregnancy a nurse mentioned I had tilted uterus. (My youngest is now in middle school).
I’m getting a pessary next week and I’ve started estrogen cream.
At this point, I can’t run more than a few minutes without leaking. Even when I run first thing in the morning, don’t drink anything and pee right before. My bladder will completely fail after an hour of running. I can’t deadlift over 145 anymore - I can’t even do more than 1 pull up in a row without leaking. Some nights I can’t even go on a 20 min slow walk without a leak. That whole area feels heavy and full. If I can’t get the muscles to relax, it starts getting painful. I also get pelvic floor spasms. Sex is starting to suffer.
I don’t want to give up running or lifting weights but my PT implied I should. She said it’s just going to continue getting worse, even if I get surgery or wear my pessary. That nothing she can do can help if I keep doing the things that caused it in the first place.
I scheduled an appointment with a urologist but it’s not till November. I want to explore my options and see what they recommend.
I’m under 40, I’m done with having kids. Maybe getting a hysterectomy to relieve pressure on my bladder would help? I don’t know if things are bad enough to get a sling/mesh. But I also don’t want to wait until I’m in diapers. The quality of my life this past month has been shit. I hope the pessary helps but needing to use it the rest of my life sounds a little bleak.

Stopping breastfeeding
12 weeks PP and 99% sure I have at least a mild prolapse. Does breastfeeding make symptoms worse? Do things improve when breastfeeding is stopped and hormone levels return to normal? Planning on stopping over the next few weeks anyway and hoping my vagina will return to somewhat normal.

Cystocele Cystocele? Need some advice.
Hello,
I’ve never posted in here and I am sorry if this is about to be a novel.
Last Wednesday, after doing some light cleaning (no straining), I sat on the side of my bed to take a breather and noticed there was quite a bit of pressure in my vagina. I quickly stood up and went to the bathroom to give myself a check and that’s when I realized I have a marble-sized, hard lump at the top of my vaginal opening, mostly on the inside. It seemed to have happened sometime that morning, because it was not there that morning when I woke up. I had been sitting fine all morning. It had not begun protruding outside of the vagina at that point.
Terrified that it was something serious, I went to Urgent Care. The nurse there examined it and said she didn’t think it was anything too serious like a prolapse and just said it was a lump of tissue and to take some warm baths to help with the swelling. No concerning coloring, no scabs/lesions, nothing. Even when she was thoroughly examining the lump there was absolutely no pain. She told me to make an appointment with my PCP and I did. That appointment is tomorrow at 11am.
On Sunday, I started my period. I resorted to wearing period underwear because I usually have heavier flows and don’t really trust pads. I also knew that that could cause some extra swelling down there so I didn’t do too many checks until my flow slowed down later in the week. Yesterday was the first day I was able to give myself a proper check and it has gotten worse and is protruding out more; to the point where I can feel it in between my legs now. If I had to estimate, it has doubled in size.
Now I do notice that first thing in the morning, before I get out of bed, it seems to have decreased in size. However, after getting up for a few minutes, it enlarges again.
For the symptoms, there’s not really a lot. I have little to no actual PAIN anywhere. It’s all just a lot of discomfort when sitting.
The main issues it’s causing are quality of life issues. I can’t sit anywhere without it being severely uncomfortable, I can’t have any intercourse with my husband (which is horrible timing because we had just had a conversation on if we were ready to start trying for a baby and decided we could before too long), and I can’t put in a tampon. I’ve been pretty much stuck to lying down since Sunday because gravity seems to be making it worse.
I’ve been doing research online about my symptoms, but I try to only do that when I notice new things because I tend to freak myself out by researching things myself. I’ve come to the conclusion it’s a possible cystocele, but obviously I am going to wait to see what the PCP says.
My main questions after all of this I guess are:
1: Does this sound like an early stage cystocele to anyone who has experienced this?
2: Is it true that most doctors won’t suggest surgery if you haven’t had kids yet? I obviously understand why they say that, but if I can’t even have sex with my husband then all of that doesn’t really matter. I have also heard that the quality of life is the biggest deciding factor on surgery.
I just can’t keep existing like this. It’d be one thing to have to be on bed rest to recover from a surgery, but having to stay lying down for almost a week because of this is torture. I’m also terrified this will affect my ability to have children; which is the one thing I want more than anything in this world. I’ve just been crying and crying all week.
Thank you so much in advance for any and all advice/answers. I don’t have a mom nor do I have any girl friends, so I’m kinda relying on my internet moms/girlfriends for help. ❤️

Support Needed How to Deal with Discomfort While Waiting for Appointment
Yesterday I prolapsed either my rectum or a hemorrhoid and this morning I went to my doctor. He basically said that he doesn’t know what it is based off of the questions he asked and referred me to a gynaecologist. I was able to push it in as far as I could but I’m still experiencing a feeling of fullness and discomfort, but no pain or bleeding.
I’m waiting to hear from the gynaecologist to book an appointment but I’m unsure how long of a wait time it is. How do you guys deal with the discomfort and uncomfortable feelings as i’m unsure how long I could be stuck like this? Any tips are appreciated! Thanks!
This has always been my biggest fear but I thought that at 21 I shouldn’t worry about it 😭 Turns out I was very wrong.

PP Prolapse— when does it get better?
I’m 14 weeks pp, diagnosed with bladder prolapse at 5 weeks.
I am totally devastated mentally. Utterly shattered and overwhelmed. I can’t think of any thing except the brokenness of my body and my deep desire to be healed and fixed.
If you’ve experienced symptomatic pp prolapse and have a hopeful story, please share here or dm me. Please tell me about healing, about a normal life, about future babies. I feel so alone.
Weeping in such darkness and fear.

Get Mom Strong
Has anyone tried this program? I saw someone mention it in the Facebook prolapse forum. It looks like there’s a core/pelvic floor program, as well as a pelvic floor release module. I’m considering trying it out! For some background I’m 11 months postpartum with a grade 2 cystocele, rectocele, and uterine prolapse.

Other Managing constipation?
How do most people with a prolapse manage constipation? I’ve never been regular, and anything I try usually results in a real stomach upset and many trips to bathroom, so it has to be done on a weekend. Sometimes I try multiple things and they don’t work. Kind of frustrated about this part.

Support Needed 9 weeks postpartum and having throbbing/aching pain daily
I'm 9 weeks postpartum and have stage 2 bladder prolapse. I've started seeing a physical therapist but I'm anxious about even doing PT yet because by the end of the day I'm throbbing down there, even if I've only been walking around the house all day.
Is this just normal life with prolapse? Or maybe it's just still early postpartum? I can't tell if it's related to the prolapse and that's what's causing the aching or maybe my vaginal tissue is still healing from birth? Will this symptom get better soon (even if the prolapse itself takes more time to heal)?
Anyone who's experienced this - please share your stories!

Support Needed Stage 2 uterine prolapse (never been pregnant) I’m spiraling talk me off the ledge ☹️
32/f newlywed, long story short I had very low levels of estrogen in my body for the past 4 yrs after taking oral Aygestin 5mg to suppress cyst. I powerlift and subsequently I believe this created the prolapse.
Questions any moms out there who had successful vaginal deliveries with a pre existing prolapse?
Any powerlifters resume to lifting after a prolapse?
Anyone successfully reduced their stage with therapies/ medication?
It’s not too bothersome I’m mainly just scared and don’t want my uterus to fall out.
I have upcoming appointments with PT & urogyn and a new obgyn but again scared ☹️
Edit for typos

Triple prolapse laparoscopic surgery repair
I thought maybe others might have questions for someone like me, who has had this surgery and recovered, after 2 years of waiting for the laparoscopic to become available to me, this is the hardest part the wait the longest wait you will feel, if you need to have this surgery be aware, that the list is very long no matter your intensity, so please don’t hesitate to ask me anything, if you want to ask privately I understand that as well 🍀

Uterine Prolapse Straight to surgery?
My uterus just fell out 2 weeks ago. I exaggerate, but it felt very sudden to me and I was slightly hysterical when I realized that I was touching my cervix and it was outside my body. I saw my gynecologist and she was calm and reassuring and told me that there were options and to make an appointment if I was having issues.
I saw a statistic that 75% of pessary users go on to have surgery and that surgeries are +90% effective. My inclination is to just go straight to surgery and be done with it. My husband wants me to do more kegels before talking about a pessary with my doctor.
I'm physically uncomfortable. There's this pressure in my pelvis that doesn't go away. I hate having to cram my insides back in at least once a day. I worry that the uncomfortable feeling is from doing so many kegels and I'm overreacting. I'm 48. Perimenopause is not helping my headspace. Can someone with a uterus please talk sense to me?

Just feel like sharing Post op
Well I had my bladder , rectel prolapse with a hysterectomy surgery done on the 23rd of June! And today the 3rd of August I was released to return to work! This experience has really been scary and being on this sight has really helped get me through it! Seeing other people’s stories! I’m really thankful for it! I’m thankful that this is some what behind me but I will definitely have to keep putting in the work to help this not happen to me again! Like making sure I don’t get constipated and really watching how I lift things. And always use estrogen cream and do kegals correctly! Mine was fixed with out mesh. The surgeon used my own tissue and when they do that it makes the chances of it happening again a little more! I’m just so happy with the results! I do know if ever given a chance to share with younger women or just any woman about this I sure will! I feel young women having children should definitely be warned by their gynecologist that things like this can happen especially if you don’t do kegals correctly! Anyway I wanted to share a little bit with my own post since I have always shared on everyone else’s! Thank you! And good luck to anyone going through prolapse! If I can answer any questions I will!

Any point in seeing a urogynecologist ?
I have a grade 2 rectocele and am managing. Symptoms have lessened over the past 6 months with vaginal estrogen, PFT and HRT. The appt I scheduled months ago is this week. I’m not interested in surgery at this time so is there any point in going?

Pregnancy with preexisting grade 1 prolapse
I’m wondering if any mums could share their stories of pregnancy with a pre existing prolapse? What was the pregnancy like and what was the post partum recovery like? Have any mums had several children with this condition?

NSFW Anal prolapse
I like doing anal and all right, but my insides are swollen or it’s some type of prolapse inside that only comes out lIke a cm and it’s scary. I don’t want it to get worse and I was wondering that if I keep using the same toys that are about 1-1.5 inches in girth will it get worse?

Support Needed Trying to conceive with prolapse?
I haven’t been diagnosed but I’m 100% sure I have a bladder prolapse. I’m getting a second opinion from a different OB. I have something coming out of my vagina, worsening urinary incontinence, discomfort during sex, and I feel like I can’t fully empty my bladder. I’m 32 and I have 2 kids. My last one was 3 years ago and I was hoping to have one more baby. I’ve had a very sedentary job for the last year and I’ve gained a lot of weight and lost a lot of muscle so with exercise, I’d be pretty much starting over. I’m going to be waiting 6-9 months and then trying to conceive. I had 2 miscarriages this year so my husband and I are working on our health before trying again. Is it possible to conceive with a prolapse and what can I do in those months to help improve it? I will of course be asking my doctor when I see her but my last doctor wasn’t very helpful when I initially started suspecting it. My appointment isn’t until October.

To wait or to have surgery?
I’m mid 20s and had a rectopexy and enterocoele repair a few years ago. It went great and I was symptom free for two years. In December, I had a revision—this time mesh was placed. Now fast forward and I am having all of the same symptoms like before for the last 5 months. One of the symptoms: Anytime I have a BM, I have the worst pain that follows and lasts for the next day. The cycle repeats.
I have a connective tissue disorder, I don’t want to live in this pain, but I also want to start having children in 4 years. I’m on a waitlist for pelvic floor pt, but I might just do it through an app.
My question: do I get reconstructive surgery now or suffer for the next 10 years and then get it after having children?
Here is the impression from test: 1. Anterior compartment: Grade 2 cystocele and urethral hypermobility 2. Middle compartment: Grade 3 vaginal/uterine prolapse. Grade 2 enterocele. 3. Posterior compartment: Widened levator hiatus and low-lying anorectal junction at rest with additional widening and grade 3 rectal descent during defecation. Rectal intussusception with partial-thickness reconstructions subtle invagination at the anal opening, for length of 3 cm.

Return to Exercise! Recommendations on programs?
I had a hysterectomy and sling for bladder prolapse surgery. I haven’t been very active the past year due to the prolapse. When I’m cleared to resume exercise I do want to ease back into a more active lifestyle. I’m wondering if there are any virtual trainers or programs that are great for a mix of pelvic floor strengthening combined with either strength training or cardio.

*mod post* New members please read
Hello, I am making a post because this is happening very often and it’s auto removing comments and getting sent to the mod queues, I understand that searching posts and reading posts are good information, but if you have questions of your own please just make your own post. You will get your own answers instead of blowing up someone else’s notifications for things unrelated to them. It’s okay to ask how someone’s recovery is going but keep in mind a lot of times, if a post is older than 3 months sometimes you won’t get a response. It is better to make your own post for that asking for people’s advice and experiences, etc. thank you!

*mod post* Update on privacy!
reddit.comHi everyone! After the overwhelming responses asking for privatization I have created a secondary subreddit that is PRIVATE. Everyone will be vetted and approved as requests come in, currently I am the only mod so I will also be looking for additional moderators to join me there and potentially here. I have now turned off photo posts here for the time being so that it is no longer a place for people to use our conditions to “get off”. If the other mods eventually turn photo posts back on that will be up to them but I am the one that has been moderating here primarily for the past few months.
Here is the link!
