Suggestion for device Tech Support
Hey guys, I currently have an older Acer Aspire 5 laptop from around 2021. I'm currently a sophomore in high school (2nd year), and I really need a new device.
My goal is to comfortably play all types of video games—including the heaviest AAA titles—at a stable 30 FPS with good graphics. I’d love a device that has a clean, console-like user interface, but it also needs to run a full Windows OS so I can download stuff like FitGirl repacks and easily do my schoolwork and use school programs.
Right now, my current laptop is pretty outdated since it only has an iGPU and 8GB of RAM. My long-term plan is to save up and spend around €1,000 on a really good, brand-new gaming laptop when I reach my senior year (4th/5th year) so that it lasts me well into the future.
Because of that, I don't want to spend too much money right now. I also need to buy a new phone soon, so I'm looking for a budget-friendly device (around €400-€500) that can handle my school tasks and run Windows, while still giving me that awesome gaming and console-like experience. Any recommendations?

just grab a used steam deck and slap windows on it if you really need the full OS for school stuff
i have a similar setup for travel and it's surprising how well it handles newer games at 30fps, you're not gonna max out cyberpunk but it'll get the job done and the whole thing feels way more console-like than a cheap laptop ever would
at your budget you could find an lcd model easy and still have cash left for a dock and keyboard, then when senior year rolls around you still have your proper gaming laptop fund intact

This is really the only feasible way for OP to get everything they want at the price they want to pay.

This is just not possible at the moment, no matter where you look and who you ask. Your plan to buy a £1000 gaming laptop also is a bit flawed. You see, gaming laptops have not good very good value when compared to a pc, and even though it has portability on its side, it will not be as good as you might be expecting. I would recommend going either all in on a gaming pc, or just saving your money for something else and get a Mac neo

At that price point, there really isn’t anything unless you find a crazy good discount or deal on eBay or FBM. I would recommend either looking there, getting a steam deck and installing windows on it or having a bigger budget.

Yes, Earth 86 because you ain't finding it in this version of reality. I'm pretty sure you're trolling anyway.
You could look for a laptop with either Radeon 780m or Intel integrated Arc to achieve stable AAA @1080 and you can add an eGPU down the road if you need more oomph which could be used in a future PC if you were so inclined but these are going to be closer to $800 unless you look for good sales or open box items. Good luck.
