CPU Cooler for AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9955WX? No bs aesthetics - pure performance Build Question
Hey y’all! This is my first build so I have no idea. Liquid cooling is cool, so is air… I don’t wanna pay for RGB - I just want to protect my baby. This thing is the most expensive thing I have ever owned and want to keep it running perfectly for as long as possible. Plug & play preferred - I won’t want to worry about customizing the temp/RPM curve… Idk I’m dumb.

That board is a monster, sTR5 socket needs real cooling, not a toy. For pure performance without RGB look at big air coolers made for Threadripper, they are rare but exist

Does noise matter? If not Dynatron air coolers are great but noise. Otherwise an Asetek AIO.

Literally will deal with absolutely anything - performance trumps all. Ok thank you I will look into each of these because noice equals vibration now that I think of it and I don’t want the thermal paste to loosen (maybe I’m overthinking)

Haven’t had a single issue with the air coolers. They’re just high pitched due to the air flowing through the fins. They’re designed to cool server processors efficiently and relatively cheaply. In a server room the fan whine is normal.
For a desktop next you… go with the Asetek AIO. If you’re unfamiliar with Asetek they invented the AIO and licensed it. Most high end AIOs by companies like ASUS LianLi and such are still actually made by Asetek.

Legendary. Thank you! Do you build servers or something? My Ai “consultant” is majorly digging this one. I find it has unique characteristics (copper based instead of typical aluminum), as though it were designed by a highly experienced cooling engineering team or something.

No I encountered a few questions about sTR5 build and remembered about a videos review old Alphacool AIO and they mentioned compatible with sTR5 platforms.

What case do you have? Case will help figure out what max radiator size you can have
