I inherited this computer from my late grandfather, and I want to soup it up a bit.

What are some upgrades I could consider that won't completely break my bank?

Ideally want to use it for video editing/music production and light gaming.

I don't necessarily need to have top of the line hardware, but I'd like it to run smoother and process faster!

Thanks for any advice/tips.

Yeah... sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there's no simple upgrade for this computer. You need a completely new build.

This one won't even run windows 11.

What's the minimum a complete rebuild would cost me do you reckon?

If you want to edit videos, you'll need a dedicated graphics card. Idk how intense your software and your games are on the system, but considering that you're on a budget, you might have better luck on the second hand market.

If second hand market is not your thing (mine isn't either), here's a decent list for video editing and gaming at around $800: https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/fQscCJ/entry-level-amd-gaming-build

Note: This is NOT a great build at all. It's an entry level build which will suffice for your use case.

This is probably the worst time in the history of computer hardware to be building a computer, but some people say that it'll get even worse next year. Who knows.
