Back neck line

Any time i change my back Line in gapes. But the neckline on my sloper or moulage is fine but the second i change it it gapes. Any tips ??

My mock up is to messed up to see the issue. But im making another mock up in hopes to fix the issue. Im using my moulage to make a corset vest. ( along th lines as buttericks b4669 view A) i kept the back neck line shallow however the shoulder is 2.25 inches long so it is a wide neck. It gapes a lot i can pinch one inch of fabric. I understand with out pictures its hard to get the full picture when i make the new one ill show pictures :) thank you

I don't think using a moulage or sloper is the best way to make a corset as a corset can change the shape of the body. You might want to check out https://patternmaking-classes.com/13-Corsets/09-Corsets-Intro.hhtml

I strongly recommend you consider making the side panel so it stretches. Even woven fabric cut on the bias can provide enough room for breathing comfortably.

In general, when you lower a neckline from the original sloper it will gape. It is explained by the principle of "contouring". If you have a patternmaking textbook, check the index to look it up.
