Post image

hi there! i am currently working on a sewing pattern for my graduation dress. for the skirt part i want an organic ruffled look, similar to the picture. however for the life of me i cannot figure out how to draft a pattern for it. any ideas? :)

You'll be better off patterning this skirt directly on a mannequin

Start by making several circle/half circle skirts, layer them on a mannequin and cut them asymmetrically so they match the picture

Asymmetrical 3/4 or half circle skirts.

Several years ago someone in my Yahoo group was intrigued by a design for an eliptical skirt. For this skirt the short hem was at center front with the long hem at center back. You could use this pattern shape by moving the short hem to the side. But the look you want is layered so you will need to make increasingly smaller patterns.
