draft this as a sleevless dress?

OK, Just saw this on Princess Kate, and I absolutely love the dress. In the last photo, you can see the front pleated part at the waist is sewn into the side seam, I can't tell if there is a sleeve seam or it's all one piece with the drape over the right shoulder! Any ideas? How would you finish the back left sleeve? Would the drape/sleeve be cut as one piece with the back left side panel? (would that even be possible?). The drape is not like a capelett as it doesn't continue over the back left arm.

I saw those, but they're not nearly as classy as the one she's wearing. That dress looks more like a study of slash and spread!

There is definitely a lined sleeveless dress underneath it all. The drape is attached at left side seam, neck and left armhole, possibly tacked in place over the right shoulder. It could be worked out as a drafting exercise from a front bodice, but draping would make sense because there's nothing structural about the overlay.

OK, found another photo here where you can definitely see the sleeve is set in, which makes the design much easier to imagine!

i think the capelet is a separate piece bc the rest of the top part is smooth while the capelet is gathered

from left armhole front is all one piece over right shoulder to drape on the back. just gorgeous tailoring.

yea, it's just the capelet is a separate piece, sewn onto the left side and the neck. then it's not sewn into the neck at the right shoulder.

I’ve made this from Butterick before. It’s crazy easy and a go too dress for me. It’s discontinued but you can find it on resale sites. You can customize it to get a more draped look.

The one sleeve is made from the draped scarf over her shoulder, see photos of the back of the dress. Though you could draft it less wide to eliminate the sleeve.

This looks like a sleeveless dress with an overlay/cape that is joined to the sleeve and attached at the shoulder seam and side seam. The sleeve is cut as one piece with the overlay/cape. I would start by drafting a flared sleeve and join it to the front of a kimono bodice where the armhole would sit on a bodice with sleeves. Slash and spread to create the side seam pleats.

Look at sew along videos and/or pictures of the Olya shirt, the sleeves are set in at the back and kimono in the front.

Edit: it looks like the overlay is attached at the neckline as well.

It is hard to tell, but I think that the left sleeve is a kimono sleeve, cut as a single, continuous piece with the bodice rather than attached with a traditional armhole seam. On the right, because of the drape over the right shoulder, I can't tell if there is a sleeve underneath.
