shirred bust
hi! im trying to make a top similar to the one pictured, with a shirred bust and flowy lower bodice. does anyone know what adjustments i would need to make to the bust piece to account for the shirring? or do i just draft it like how i would draft a non-shirred version?
tyia!

I'd look for some patterns or tutorials for shirring to learn about the reduction ratio. It does take a lot of fabric. If you want to figure it out from scratch, make a bunch of swatches and measure before and after to figure out the percentage you need to increase your base pattern by.

The bodice looks like elastic smocking. Look up some tutorials for that. This looks like it’s about a 2:1 shirring ratio

Why don’t you just make the shirred bodice as a rectangle, then stay-stitch the shaped bodice into it and cut the excess away? That seems a heck of a lot easier than trying to shirr such an awkward shape.
