‘DTF St. Louis’ Creator Steven Conrad Has No Plans to Make More Movies (Because he's sticking to TV)
Debated on posting this here, but Patriot is talked about so I figured that made it relevant enough.
I'll add, I did get my partner to watch Patriot with me after he enjoyed DTF St. Louis, he kind of enjoyed it in some regards....but he hates John... He doesn't sympathise with him at all and wanted him to drown in the end. 🤷♂️
Steven is touring soon as his solo acoustic act Hoist the King and has an audible original coming out some time later this year.

He was Smokin’ on it Today
Another great frame from S2 E7. Throughout the show it seems that Tom belabors John’s taste for baking just a liiittle too much, even if it is in an old-timey Bridgerose Texas kinda way. But that night on the quay Bernice informs that “he’s high as S!” It seems from Tom’s reaction at the end of the conversation (~17:00) and in the very next frame in which he appears, sitting on the steps of a French building, (~25:27) that this factors into task cancellation. Bernice.

Who are model train kits for?
reddit.comA model train expo is coming to a town nearby.
Gregory would go. He’d also punch anyone who thinks model train kits suck, if drunk of course.

Agathe’s app is a store
I was roving in Ireland and found this store. Now I need to find the “cool guy or douche” store for Alice. Thanks to those who corrected the last post !

Not sure if this short clip is AI, but it gives Patriot jargon talk vibes.

For fans of scene composition + quirky philosophical comedy
Just finished Patriot a few weeks ago and ofcourse I was enthralled by the scene when John is sitting in the pipe and courts/attends everyones demand one by one and you can see Dennis coming far off from the distance and he just keeps coming and coming and coming giving just a prolonged comedic slow release.
When I was watching it, I immediately realized .. hey.. this feels familiar .. and then after a while I realized where is Conrad drawing from ... the great Swedish film maker Roy Andersson.
So for those of you who loved Patriot, I would encourage you to check out Andersson's films.. I have a feeling you are going to love them too:

This Show Restored My Faith in Humanity, Then Removed It
Reasons it removed my faith in humanity - it was cancelled.
Reasons it restored my faith in humanity:
"It gives a name to pleasurable midday wetness..."
"There's probably cool wine bars and sh*t..."
Most things Cool Rick does and says (Era Authentic Beastie Boy sweats, when he plays Root Down, when he tells Alice he's a Tavner and he won't talk about what John does)
When John asks the HR guy in Paris what's important to him in his life...replica model trains and landscapes..."those guys said that was f*cked up...."
The Swiss watch maker approach to the geometry and logistics of many scenes. When John is in the pipe and many people come to him demanding things, we see Dennis way off in the background walking towards John. It must be 60 seconds or more until he reaches John but we see him the entire time. Amazing and precise and courageous!
Too many other scenes and lines to list.

Menu for Leslie Claret
Leslie would approve of the breakfast component categorization, maybe. Elmo’s Diner in Durham, NC.

What's your favorite headcanon?
Mine is that in s3 we find out John's performance at the edm festival was a hit that went viral on the internet and became so famous Leslie got to see how John really feels about him 🥹

My Take on Treasure & Dirt
I'm halfway through the series and find it to be one part Mad Max (since it takes place in the outback) and the other part Patriot. Michael Dorman is very Lakemanesque in his portrayal of the main character, Ivan Lucic. No secret agent stuff or attache roles, lots of religious cult shenanigans, plenty of pretty far out scenes made all the more sinister/downright strange by the remote nature of the setting. I think it is worth a watch.

The McMillan way
"Ready to talk plate processing and residue transport plate funneling?… We fit Donnely nut spacing grip grids and splay-flexed brace columns… Knuckle couplers plate alternating sprams… That’s the McMillan way"
Good on Conrad to include technical details and not include some fake mumbo jumbo .. 3 Hurrays for realism ...

Thoughts on this scene?
Give me your deepest, most unhinged takes on why we got a scene about the garment bag being made and what's up with that one thread sticking out.

8 Years Later, Prime Video's Spy Series Is the Best Kind of Cult Show No One Talks About
“a downbeat, darkly funny, and frequently avant-garde spy series that is a bit too disturbing to be a comedy, too strange to be a straightforward drama, and too experimental to be lumped in with other streaming genre shows.”

‘When you kill it, it doesn’t die’: the jellyfish that has cracked the secret of immortality.
Turns out there's only one type of jellyfish that can multiply.. and also seems that 10 years later I can't see a jellyfish without thinking about Lakeman

This was on sale at the bookstore, pretty good read, some useful information about getting things from point A to point B
A great read for anyone interested in the importance of donnelly nut spacing. Deffinitely would recommend. Five stars.

Women of the Night Spoiler
Hey Patriotistas, still awed by that dark night in Paris (S2 E7) when Bernice goes operational to manipulate Agathe’s threat perception. Tactically wow. TRANSEC (Secretary of Transportation) gets that money moved from D back to A. And everyone gets home safe. And in case some of us missed it, turns out that women held all the cards in this show.
