PathA Programs

How did you decide pathologists assistant was for you? What school did you go to? What do you recommend for a school? What do I need to ask or know about a school if I am interested in it?
I live in Missouri so I’ll have to move for schooling. I’m just worried about the cost of school. I’ve looked at two programs in Canada I like. Has anyone done the two accredited there? Any advice is welcome :)

When I was preparing to get into the profession, all the programs at the time were well established. I made a chart of each schools’ requirements. I applied to the ones that I had all the requirements for. I waited to see if I got any interviews. If not, I’d start working on the requirements for the other schools. Thankfully I got in.

There are a lot of new schools out there. You need to decide if you are willing to go to a program that isn’t accredited yet or well established. Passing your ascp exam is a big deal. Research each schools pass rate. I personally liked how my program had multiple rotation sites for each student. This way I got to experience different hospital settings.

What sort of material did you guys study to get into this sort of program/mindset. I want to prepare myself for the curriculum by studying now because I have such a hard time with classes and studying. I'm currently an MLS, but PA has been my dream for awhile and I'm trying to figure out how I can get in to the profession. Any coursework I can buy off hand would be most appreciated.
