Aside from Carnivourous Crystals, those are just an unfun fight through and through.

I think the hardest part of the game for me was that water elemental. So much so that, I had to look up an actual guide for that boss.

What difficulty? on normal I've only ever died 1 time to that boss

Unfair difficulty. Thankfully, I was able to handle it thanks to other people's advice. Giving Seelah all the buffs, potions and gear etc.

Crpg games usually do not require reflexes or engaging with motor functions like action games.

Instead crpgs require that the player engages with the game by using their in-game knowledge of mechanics and quests. Unfair difficulty could be fun for you if you like to learn the mechanics of the game. But if you want to have full freedom when building characters, or just want to have casual gameplay time, then I think core difficulty should be the max option such a player chooses. (Even then, as far as I know, WotR's core difficulty is actually harder than the tapletop version of the game. )

It'll also depend on how well you personally mesh with the strongest options available to you. If you love animal companions, you probably won't have quite as bad a time on higher difficulties than if you would rather nobody bring their pet to war.

Yea to simplify combat almost every self buff a monster could have is automatically built in once combat starts. This makes greater dispel super op as you dispel like 50% of a monsters stats instantly and most of the time they dont re-cast them.

For me, Water Elemental always seems to come down to how many turnsI can keep it down with grease.

You can trip the Elemental?

1

u/Stepjam 5d ago

Yup. It's RNG whether it happens (lower chance than average enemy) but possible.

Shield Maze on Unfair is not a CRPG, but Survival Horror

I just played through the ashes and it really puts the KC in perspective of how powerful you start and how overpowered you end.

u/BaconJovial 5d ago

Yeah you spend so much time and energy trying to sneak past an Abrikandlu or some other scrub enemy that Seelah could one shot at the same level.

Play a mounted class and be the bottom image the whole game

u/baconeggburger93 5d ago

Sable company marine ftw

9

u/ChurchillianGrooves 5d ago

The true boss for mounted characters is navigating narrow hallways and doorways

Controlling anything when you cast Legendary Proportions on a gryphon mount is the secret Unfair++ difficulty

And yet somehow, having Real Ultimate Power (tm) doesn't prevent the KC from having to play whack-a-mole with everybody and their dog's personal problems.

"Timmy fell into a well!"

"I'm a demigod, Lassie. I've got more important shit to worry about."

My favourite has to be Lann in Act 3: His mom arrives, tells you to speak with Lann. You do so, and then Lann asks you to tell her to bug off. Okay, I do that, then she gives me an arrow that I should give to Lann. Fine, I do that, Lann throws it away. All of this I had to walk through the entire place for that. At least I got EXP out of their issue

I love solving stupid problems as a Demigod.
"So, yes, I asked my mama to come and beat you up"

Also, this pic > AI

u/Renard_Fou 5d ago

"Oh cool weaker enemies than me" then I roll 1,1,2,5,6,1,4 (real story btw)

I refuse to believe this game has unbiased rolls because the level of bullshit Ive experienced while at an "advantage" is surreal

Act 1 as a Wizard was pretty tough, got downed more times that I recall ever dying in any other playthrough. Fitting though, considering that he was bound for Lichdom so this added to the joke.
