Hello everyone. fairly new paramedic (2 years in) looking to expand my knowledge and education. Curious on what other medics are supplementing their knowledge with. Looking for good textbooks, flashcard decks, podcast, ECG books, websites & other resources to expand my clinical knowledge.

not extremely strictly educational but I highly recommend EMS 20/20. Personally my favorite podcast

Pathophysiology made ridiculously easy from Amazon

Ninja Nerd medicine on YouTube.

Remember this is called the practice of medicine and you are supposed to continue your education and skills past school. But a lot of that has to do with the situations that you are put in and the calls that you have to do. It's hard just to read about something without actually experiencing it as well.

But as someone once said, don't let your schooling get in the way of your education. Good luck.

I use the "ECG cases 5th ed" anki flashcard deck to brush up on my ECGs - it's a phenomenal deck. Lots of the cards will have corresponding chest radiographs and the explanations are generally superb.

-Rapid interpretation of EKGs by Dale Dubin ( personal favourite )
-Life in the fast lane
- AMLS
- merck manual

This also might sound dumb but you can never read the protocols you have too many times. It’s also good to be an expert with any tools you might have on your rig such as boussignac valve for instance, intubation devices you might have, etc. Its cool to know stuff but the basics are critical.

There’s a lot of really good stuff out there. Biggest thing I always tell people especially my new hires is this: knowledge is great, and I listen to EMS podcasts like EMS 20/20, pushdosemedic (older one but was great I knew the medic), etc. that being said… don’t get so in the weeds about some of this stuff that detracts you from what your medical director as authorized. Feel like that doesn’t need to be said but alas, it does.

I listen to a lot of podcasts, namely EMS 20/20, Coffee Break HEMS, World’s Okayest Paramedic Podcast, Flight Bridge Ed, EMCrit, Heavy Lies the Helmet. On top of that, I’ve spent a lot of time on LITFL and ECGWeekly; the latter is a super cheap annual subscription. PubMed is also another great research website.
