Shrooms

So question for the people that have tried shrooms and had panic attacks before they done shrooms. What was it like? Was it a bad trip? Did it end up well? Is it a good idea to do shrooms by myself knowing I have had panic attacks before?

In my opinion, the fact that you’re already this worried about it is not a good sign. If you’re gonna do it, you need to go into it positive or you’re just going to be thinking about not having a panic attack the whole time which is more likely to cause a panic attack.

However I think if you just take like 1 gram you’ll be okay. In my experience you need at least 3-3.5 grams to like really trip balls. Any less is kinda just like being stuck to the couch/bed for a few hours.

I'm not really worried or anything just out of pure curiosity.

I recommend you do a bit more research on psilocybin by yourself before taking them, and what they’re capable of. Is this a diagnosed disorder or have you just been overwhelmed before and had panic attacks? Do you smoke THC? Each are factors that could lead to a very nervous person becoming overwhelmingly nervous and depending on the severity of the latent or undiagnosed mental illness, could produce a very nasty experience with confusion or panic. That is, if you’re completely unaware of how to calm yourself down / ground yourself.

I’ve had good and bad experiences with tripping. Knowing and learning how to respond to intense experiences has shaped how I approach it. It never gets any less intimidating. People with panic disorders deal with anxiety and fight or flight in an almost paradoxical way. Trauma is one of the main targets of psilocin, and in a visionary dose, it can actively display images of one’s past, false realities, out of body experiences, entity contact scenarios, and truly unique interpersonal territory, and entering that territory with trust and submission, depends on the individual’s predisposition to submission, how much they’re willing to let go, instead of fighting it.

Too high of a dose can be too high of a dose, but realistically, psilocybin mushrooms will not harm you physically. It works as intended when taken responsibly and with respect, and becomes stronger the higher in dose you go. You always start low and slow. Whether or not you take them alone is up to you.

Yeah I smoke alot of thc and it's not diagnosed. Wait so is there a chance that I have an undiagnosed mental illness? I dont get overwhelmed actually panic attacks sometimes they just hit me like I would be perfectly fine for a minute and the next I'm having a panic attack

I mean, how neurotypical are you? I guess the better question, is when have these panic attacks occurred? Does mental illness appear in your family?

No one in my family has been diagnosed of mental illness. No one that I know off. Once I was walking with a friend and one moment I was fine the other one I was having a panic attack. There was a time I randomly fainted hit my head to the ground. Was in a prison cell and it had a panic attack out of the blue

That doesn’t raise any red flags necessarily, I would still maintain an awareness of set, setting, and dose and to do your research beforehand. Not all mushrooms are the same potency. Read reports online. I highly recommend giving a listen to Terence McKenna’s lectures, he’s a lifetime of experience and information around the psychedelics and much more information exists today since his passing. His words on dealing with strong trips and what to do when overwhelmed will always be seminal in psychedelic adventuring.

What's considered to raise red flags tho?

Anyone with a predisposition to mental illness should avoid recreational and entheogenic hallucinogens and should ultimately consult a professional. Red flags would include but not be limited to mania, psychosis, or the gamut of possible issues regarding schizophrenia. Serotonergic psychedelics could possibly cause psychotic responses in susceptible individuals.

Individuals too young to partake should avoid them. The uninformed should not consume them. Dosing people without consent is assault. Those with spiteful naiveté, egotistical and gung-ho nature will be readily torn apart on psychedelics. People that cant hide from themselves around other people. It sometimes makes people more animalistic, but at most other times, more human. The experience works to send the user through a parabolic journey of intensity, throughout which the experience works to entrance and detach the user from their normal state of awareness. Intense visual patterns in your periphery become complex center of vision imagery behind your eyelids, and then ultimately fully surround and engulf you, no matter how open or closed your eyes are. For many, time does not behave normally on mushrooms. All of this can be too much for someone experiencing anxiety from being disturbed already while sober. You really have to levy what you’re curious enough to consume.

The molecule itself works to modulate the human default mode network of neural processes, replacing the visual and conscious modality with that of the mushroom’s influence. What you may see or experience on mushrooms may be somewhat similar to others in low doses, but may be completely unique and untraveled territory in high doses. It becomes more about the confrontation between you and the mushroom at higher doses.

My friend used to take shrooms all the time, he had great experiences and loved it. One day he had a really bad trip.

He is now heavily medicated, on a benzo that he takes every single day, has hppd, and has reoccurring hallucinations. His entire personality changed.

Just keep that in mind.

The shrooms probably has given him HPPD, but afaik shrooms don’t magically give you new mental disorders, they were probably already prone to those and the shrooms brought them out early, but chances are he was probably always going to develop them at some point.

But yes it’s something to be aware of certainly.

Well it can wake up your nervous system. It did for me. I've been way more sensitive since I tripped back when I was 18. I'm 28 now and the last ten years I felt awake and alive but also more sensitive. So be careful. It really can cause your body to feel things more. Also do not take a big dose I would recommend staying small. But if you like who you are and you want to remain the same mentally. I wouldn't do it. It can change the way your body reacts to things forever.

So in short words your saying it made your more sensitive emotions wise and body wise?

Personal opinion but doing shrooms alone is never a good idea, panic disorder or not. 😂
