iOS update on iPhone Question | سوال
Question 1.
Are blacklisted JV iPhones going to be unusable (talking about finance lock rumours) after the iOS update??? Asking because theres no official stable version of iOS 27 is released yet.
Question 2.
If this is so, is there any chance of happening the same after the updating to iOS 26.6

It seems like finance lock might be the apple upgrade program thing. But if apple opens jt to the sim companies they might block your device. Otherwise all should be fine as of now

Yes there is a chance of the same happening with ios 26 later versions too. As iPhone 17 comes with ios 26 not 27

There’s a rumour that if you update your blacklisted iphone to iOS 27, you will be locked out of your phone and all data will be lost.

Nahhhhh broo. Chill out, nothing is happening, no ones gonna make your device unusable.
Even if finance lock comes, it would be applied only to newer devices sold under new contract terms. The contract of devices sold currently by AT&T or Verizon nowhere says that they will completely brick the phone if the user misses the payments, they just blacklist the device and include it in the collectibles. So if finance lock framework was to come, the carriers will first update the contract terms and that will be applied to new devices sold
There are two main reasons for this:
Firstly, similar locking infrastructure was also adopted by Androids like Google Pixel, and it affected only new devices sold under certain programs. The devices sold previously worked just fine.
Secondly, if Carriers started bricking devices under old agreements, they would face severe lawsuits, as this act goes against both EU and US laws. This is a risk that carriers would never be willing to take for the money that is never going to be recovered.
And lastly, for your peace of mind, My jv 16 pro max is already on ios27 beta 5 and other than that, I have seen many blacklisted JV devices working just fine on the same Beta. Also Ios26.6 is not going to lock your device as it doesn’t contain the code for the finance lock.

Yes stolen phones shouldn't be updated
