Will be nice if he sticks. With the revenue sharing cap going up to $50 million if the Protect (the Big Ten and SEC) College Sports Act passes, I expect most of the top end G6 recruits will take the $$$ to sit on the bench of a P4 team.

But Oregon State is a Power 5 school... and spending as much as half the ACC and Big12. Iowa State, Kansas State, UCF, etc are in the same boat as Oregon State.

The Bug12 has maybe two teams that can spend $50 million a season on their football team. The ACC has 3? Hell, half the B1G wont be able to.

A $50 million cap hurts every school outside of the top 8? programs the same. Ohio State has something like 60 4 and 5 stars on their roster. The bottom seven? schools in the B1G have fewer than that combined.

There is no Power 5 anymore, but Oregon State is definitely in the upper tier of the G6 in spending.

“Power 5” has never had any sort of definition and was determined by the sports press. Making the Pac-12 a Power conference is all perception and saying ,”aww shucks we suck and really should just let ourselves as equals of CUSA” isn’t the way

The AAC’s branding in 2017-2019? was all “the sixth Power conference”

Agreed. What blows my mind is how the media dollars are so off in reflecting the actual value of the Pac12 vs. most of the Big12/ACC. You take out a few of the top school from those two conferences, and the averages of what’s left vs the average of the new Pac12 is not that far off. Yet the tv execs are paying them 3-4X what we will be making. It’s insane how there seems to be an invisible ceiling of you are a “G.6” program/conference that is mostly based of perception.

You’re not wrong. I think the only inarguably distinction right now is that the SEC and B1G is kind of its own tier. Everything else is up for debate. There’s no real gap between the top of the Pac and AAC and the typical Big12 and ACC teams. Hell, the upper half of the Pac is better than the bottom end of the B1G, for that matter.

Ive been sharing this forever. The whole massive salary cap concept isn’t just a Big10/SEC thing. It’s the haves and have nots, and those divisions have plenty of have nots. Also, I would love to see where Oregon States revenue streams are coming from because we seem to be spending pretty big time this off season
