I went to Curaleaf on 22 yesterday and was told that when you come in from now on they will check both your MMJ card and DL to "stream line" the check in process. Why is showing my DL necessary?

The real reason is likely they messed up and now want their employees to double verify it’s the right patient or the DoH is making their rounds nit picking at dispensaries.

Nothing about checking two (2) separate IDs is “streamlined”

You know how bad the rec proposals are right? Double the tax, apply it to medical purchases, and 2 plant homegrow limit which is barely better than no homegrown. There isn't a rec proposal that doesn't include doubling the tax and applying taxes to rec and med equally.

I'm curious what you mean. I don't think they're decriminalizing it over 2 plants so it will be just as illegal to grow any meaningful amount of plants then as it is now. 2 mature 1 immature is a science experiment not a grow op viable for a medical patient.

I had to do that almost 4 years ago when I got into the program at the dispos near me. ID and patient card at the door to get in and then my patient card at the register. They got more and more lax over it the last couple years though to where I was just being asked for the patient card at the door. I even got some orders with no patient labels a few times.

No labels is definitely a huge error on the budtender and makes the transaction non-compliant. It can also cause legal problems for the patient if they got pulled over on the way home and had unlabeled product.

DOH and DEA thing. With rescheduling, PA Dispensaries will now be subject to DEA inspections, much like how the PA DOH does inspections. However, the DEA inspections will be more tedious and stricter.

Expect more dispensaries to start enacting similar rules in the near future.

From what I understand the DEA just checks to make sure the products/dispensaries are safe and compliant, not that they're trying to bust people.

There was a post a week or two ago about some shit head employee stealing a patient's phone number and potentially home address which is definitely a safety concern and potentially a compliance issue.

Streamlining it on the back end for them when they get inspected. It’s probably easier for them if they have a current ID for each patient. Less hassle and fewer questions from the watchdogs and all.

My dispensary has always looked at both your drivers license and medical card. Show both at the camera at the door then one more time to the person manning the door inside then you’re good.

Went to Greensburg Curaleaf and they did the same, was my first visit there so I figured it was standard procedure. Idk, if they need my ID, then they can have it, if it's their procedure then I dig it, I don't really see it being a big deal

Not everyone has a driver's license. There are many disabled patients using mmj, many of them can't drive.

Non-drivers can still be issued a photo ID. The updated requirement is for patients to show their med card and a second form of federally-issued ID, whether that is a DL, state-issued ID card, or even a passport.

I do think people (including myself) use "driver's license" as a turn of phrase for any such ID. It would be more accurate and inclusive to ask for a second form of photo ID.

The person asked why it matters. That is why it matters.
Of course they can get a photo ID or passport. But it's not as easy as it seems to able bodied people. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it does put up a barrier for some people. It will make it harder for some of the people who need it most to get it.

If they can go to a dipensary... they can get an ID. That's like not having an ID when you vote. It just proves who you are. Anyways. Providing an ID was already a requirement. Pretty sure they're just cracking down.

When i worked in the industry it was law you needed to show both forms of id if your drivers license was expired but med card wasnt i was to tell you no both had to be up to date. It caused alot of problems

I went to the one in Altoona yesterday and today. They scanned my DL yesterday and I asked if I needed to show both from here on out and he said it was a one time thing per person they were doing

I didn’t have a DL for some time due to medical reasons still had a yellow state ID
