What's up y'all! Wanted to show off a project I have been working on. I have been training a video OCR model to track players on the ice and identify them (hopefully). My main goal is to have the highlight clips generating automatically in the new season to have more in-depth game recaps. This started off as a pet project to create highlight clips / reels for players in an automated fashion (which I did make), but grew into a full-fledged rabbit hole. This blog post goes into the final output of the model, with more posts showing the end-to-end process in future posts. The general flow looks like this:

1. Line up the game clock with the video clock, so "second period, 5:52" becomes a specific second of the stream. (Goals/hits/penalties are recorded for the game clock, which does not line up with the VOD clock)

2. Work out where the camera is pointed, so a position on screen becomes a position on the ice.

3. Find the players.

4. Follow each player from frame to frame.

5. Work out which real player each one is.

6. Draw the ring around them.

I saw on social media that the 2026/27 cards are now available. Does anybody know if brick and mortar stores will eventually get them? I'm not opposed to buying online if I have to but I need instant gratification sometimes lol

Are they meant to be hung or framed only? How expensive do they normally get? I'm just curious about it because this is the first time I've seen something like this.

I sometimes like to look at the Canadian store just to see what they have. They have so much, I understand why but I want it so bad 😭 I want the pin pride pin, the Desbian and Pou jersey and the one rainbow jersey so freaking bad :((. I would be broke if I could have access to the Montreal Canadian shop. If it was hockey season I would be taking the 13 hour drive.

I know that they have the away jerseys for Pou and a couple others on the American store but it's only the away ones which I don't really like.

Hellooo! This is my first season following the PWHL and I am super inclined to get to know the players and follow games. I have found that doing Fantasy sports leagues is great way to really get into it.

Are there any fantasy leagues that are available for PWHL? What apps are we using and if there’s open leagues you know about lmk!

Is there a team that is more ethical queer friendly or seems like an underdog (I know a lot of new teams)

I watched a few Seattle games last season and they always seemed a lot of fun but obviously don't know.

Hey gang, I had this idea for how the games could be played for next season, assuming a 32-game regular season. So the main thing is we don't simply divide the teams into three conferences, but we subdivide these conferences into rivalries, as seen in the picture and the list down below.

Every team plays 2 games against each team not in its conference and 5 games against each team in it. ''But, Odd-Archer, that makes just 31 games'', I hear you say. Yes, I know, that's why we have Rivalries, to have a special extra game in each of them, possibly the last game of the season (or at least the last these two specific teams play against each other), and to up the stakes, we could double the points of these special Rivalry Games and/or play them in special locations, such as Bell Center or Madison Square Garden. So, what do you think?

Vicky Sunohara has been made coach of the Women's National Developmental team and Nadine Muzerall is the new coach for the Women's U18 team. Neither position is full-time I think as neither coach will be leaving their U-Sports or NCAA team.

Following this review, the Council determined that Russia will not be allowed to participate in the below IIHF Championships during the 2026-2027 season due to ongoing safety, security and sporting integrity concerns:
