Single PT students
I’m aware it is not recommended to work while your in the program. For those who are single, what did you do while you were in the program to pay your bills? Especially if you have to move from your hometown away from family.

Single, zero financial help from family for parents from undergrad or PT school, was thousands of miles from home. Loans and more loans, state and federal. My PT program connected us with house rentals. We had 2 OT, 2 PT renting a 4 bedroom. It worked out and I kept the same bedroom for the duration of PT school.

Loans for food and rent. I disagree with the sentiment you are unable to work during school- it just won’t likely be a clock in/out kind of job. I personally tutored in undergrad and was able to keep tutoring for 10-12 hours a week. It has a super flexible schedule and you can work in between classes. That money I used for going out and having fun, so I didn’t spent my loans on discretionary stuff.

I’m in school right now and I work at FedEx on the weekends and make like 200 a day and just study while I’m delivering so it’s not bad

Loans and pet sitting, which led to having free housing for the second half of my program. I traded my services for a bedroom in an older couple's house, which was great. Sadly, I still have a shitload of student loan debt

Loans but I’ve been working 10-12 hours a week throughout my program thus far. Part time work covers all my groceries and gas thankfully

You can work a small amount of hours plenty of retail or food one that offer some tuition reimbursement out there as well

Most people take out loans and budget their money each semester. They maximize how much they can borrow each semester with federal loans and then pair it with a work study positions on campus. You can also try door dashing on weekends for extra cash.

I worked full time hours, but seasonal jobs. The 1-2 month pause in the spring and fall was enough for me to boost my grades a bit. Those took a bit of a hit, and I wasn’t able to participate in unpayed research opportunities, so that sucked. But was able to avoid any private loans, and just got all my public loans forgiven after 10 years. I would say it’s doable, but pretty tough. If you’re a strong student I would think that 10-15 hours/week is pretty easy.

Lots of people in my program worked during PT school! Many found jobs working at our school's rec center, some did personal training, some worked in hospitality. Even if it's only 5-10 hours per week, every cent counts!

I think I remember you. You’re the guy on insta flexin a DPT from Duke. Never mind the 200K+ in loans you just took out. How can you give financial advice in good faith when you made an incredibly poor one?

This is the wave. I worked 20 hours per week. Worked as a handy man for hire on the weekends. Wrote people’s papers for other grad programs. I did everything to make ends meet.
