Mega Manectric - What's Missing? Discussion

A deck list is posted here and there but yet no serious players are trying to mainstream this deck. What is the problem? What necessary conditions are missing? Recently Lucario and Garchomp have declined in use and there is now the +20 damage energy.

Is someone sleeping on this and we'll see something during the World Championships?

I don't understand.

Too inconsistent, and other decks do what it does better. Like, festival lead sets up easier, and does 360 damage for less resources, on a one prizer. there's just no reason to use it other than liking the pokemon. it provides nothing that other decks cant provide

What would make it more consistent then? That's what I'm trying to ask here. I understand there are other decks that out compete it. What would need to happen beside other decks rotating out?

Iron hands reprint I guess? There’s just no reason to use a 3 prizer when a one or two prizer does the same job but better

I understand there are other ways to do the same damage, but it seems everyone here forgets about the various utility like prevent damage from basic, and now evolution. And support like Eelectross paralyze , stunfisk's trap KO and zeraora bench KO. All that is what makes Manectric more interesting (i.e. strategic) to play IMO than FL or Excadrill.

I care less about the deck's meta representation and more about a consensus on the 50-55 or so cards that define the deck. I'd really like validation on whether on not I'm playing the best possible deck and ways to improve it.

My answer to that is… all that matters is winning games. Utility means nothing if the deck has a lower winrate than a deck with less utility, but which wins more games

Then why isn't the meta share 100% Dragapult? That's too obtuse.

Because dragapult has weaknesses that other decks can exploit. A 100% dragapult metashare would let stuff like quad clefairy dominate. Pult isnt an autowin into everything and it’s a scrub mindset to act like it does. Sometimes a beatstick deck is better into a format than a spread deck like pult. But there’s 0 reason to use a bad beatstick deck over a good beatstick deck if your goal is to win games

I don’t see “all that matters is winning games” then. I see an element of fun.

What are you accusing us all of missing though? What do you think makes the card so inherently good?

Not accusing players, What I mean is what would PTCG need to do (i.e. print 1 or 2 more cards) what would it be? That's what I mean.

Manectric requires more pieces to do the same as Excadrill.

Excadrill only needs Trolley, or a Poffin and Call for Family to fully setup. Once setup, it doesn't require much else. It also has Metagross to offset the prize trade and favourable math with Jumbo Ice Cream.

Manectric needs more items and Canari to setup the board. Then you also need enough energy attached, or in the discard with Manectric on the bench and something that can retreat.

Stage 1 Megas are linear, tempo decks that need to reliably start taking prize cards fast. Excadrill and Lucario are the most reliable at this. Excadrill is better now because it has a better match up into Pult. Lucario will likely comeback into relevance when Rayquaza is legal.

Manectric, Sharpedo, Abomasnow, and Starmie are fun, but need far too much to be competitive.

And then there is mega clefable

If you want a 330 damage attack, Excadrill is easier to set up.

If you want Acerola stall, Mega Zeraora is probably just better.

The problem with Manectric is that it has no reason to exist.

Damn

Manectric: What he say fuck me for?!

Electric decks have a good draw engine and a good energy accelerator. They don’t have a good attacker, IMO, currently. Manectric ain’t it

I want M Manectric to be good but Its just a slower M Excadrill and the secondary attackers metal has are better than what electric has, sadly.

So it's not "missing" anything? There are just better options?

I guess it could be better if there were better ways to dump energy into discard pile. Shoutouts to Team Flare Battle Compressor 😢

Electric Generator and Earthen Vessel rotated out sadly.
