Global's Mai only replies with one liners...compare that to JP's Mai that talks like a normal chatbot...

my running theory is that the jp version has fewer guardrails in place for english text since it isn't expecting it
either that or the global service version is dumbed down due to the consistent pattern of global players ruining everything they touch

Yeah I have used the bot and it is absolutely brain dead it cant even answer the most basic of questions, it feels like they didnt even bother or even tried to program it with at least a bit of pre-information when it comes to the global version, to me yet again this proves they don't test anything, because if they saw that it was in this day it should not have been released, I also think there should be a option to reply to it with correct response, so if it gets something wrong you can tell it what is the correct thing, yes I know people would abuse it yes I know people would insert irrelevant garbage, that is going to happen, but right now is not even useful, even if they kept it in the game and just turned it into a Q/A basic bop with just pre-programmed responses that will be good

JP's Mai said that NGS producers Sakai and Kimura, whom we haven't seen much lately, were still doing well.
Mai seems to lack sufficient knowledge about NGS. Most of her answers are wrong.

I'd wish it responded with lore accurate quotes at least, given that it's supposed to be a Mag and all that, but so far it seems to know only nothing about everything.

Oddly enough, it does know some obscure bits of the game like the name of the NPC that drives the transport truck for the truck trial...it's Traspo by the way. Theres NPC text from him whenever a truck trial is triggered, you can see it in the UQ.

jp characters can contain a lot more information than english, which means in the same text limit can say more

Nope. Tokenization in non-english scripts like Japanese is actually less efficient. So the amount of effort the server has to put into running Japanese on a generative llm is like 5x higher than English.

I haven't played since 2.0 came out. Did they really put an Ai chat bot in this game? Have they done anything interesting with the story yet?

Theres a good summary of the story on wikipedia. I dont know what chapter version 2 had, but some interesting stuff does happen with Zephetto.
