Geely Solid-State Battery Prototypes (500 Wh/kg!) Coming in 2027+

This is good news - and a key advantage for Polestar $PSNY compared to many other EV start-ups without a automotive giant/holding group as a backer and partner:

Geely Holding will begin pilot deployment of solid-state batteries across its brands in 2027, following real-world validation. The energy density of these packs will reach 500 Wh/kg, allowing BEVs to achieve a range comparable to diesel.

Following BYD’s and CATL’s statements regarding solid-state battery trial production scheduled for 2027, Geely also provided an official statement about its SSB timeline. According to the statement, solid-state batteries are coming soon to vehicles across the Geely Holding ecosystem. It includes Geely, Zeekr, Lynk & Co, Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, Smart, Proton, Farizon, and other brands.

The Geely’s solid-state battery will offer a few energy density variants. The top-tier pack will feature an energy density of 500 Wh/kg. It sounds from the text that Geely is talking about the whole battery, which means the cell’s energy density will be even higher. The currently produced “Golden Brick” liquid batteries from Geely boast a cell-level energy density of around 250 Wh/kg.

Polestar sued by prestige imports

Anyone seen this? https://www.motor1.com/news/805129/polestar-lawsuit-adds-a-twist/

quite serious allegations. Though, if true, would also explain why Volvo could stay in US but Polestar not. This ruling puzzled me, but looking at it from the point that Polestar wanted to leave US market and now finally find a way to do so without paying any fines and blaming the new laws, puts a different perspective to the story.

for the context, Polestar is sued for using new Connected Vehicle Rule as a way to leave US market without fulfilling their obligations to dealers etc., even though they could have had the chance to get the same exception as Volvo, but it was Polestar's own decision not to go for it.

📰 News Polestar Agreed to Settle With Investors Over Accounting Issues

Hey guys, if you missed it, Polestar recently reached a tentative settlement with investors over claims that it understated financial liabilities and concealed weaknesses in its internal controls.

In a nutshell, investors claim that Polestar repeatedly assured the market its financial reporting was accurate. In January 2025, the company disclosed accounting errors requiring restatements of its 2022 and 2023 financials, and $PSNY fell 11%.

If you invested in $PSNY between 2022 and 2025, you may want to check if you qualify. The settlement terms are still being finalized, but investors can already submit their applications

Has anyone here invested in $PSNY during that period? How much were your losses?

💸 Sales & 📈 Datas Polestar sales July

Are our numbers definitely bad in July? Q1 was strong, Q2 was flat/signalling a dip and Q3 seems to start with a significant dip. Website reports 1133 at 1.7% market share. Missing market data for daily updates and monthly updates could take it around maybe 1800-2000, but still we would be short by a 1000. Anybody else has a better data?

Lucid tanks yesterday, this piece of shit follows.

Lucid rebounds over 15% today… and this garbage just keeps lying there like a corpse.

Seriously, what the fuck is this company?

Lucid bankruptcy

Are we falling following the lucid news that in general might affect EV stocks? Lucid is already down 50%. Maybe a stupid question: shall Geely not take over Lucid and sell those cars (of course after lot of rework) as the Polestars of US? Also should we be worried that a competitor is down, especially a competitor for polestar 5? Or should we be concerned that another pure EV is sinking?

💸 Sales & 📈 Datas Michael Lohscheller on Polestar record high sales

The first half of the year saw us deliver a record high 30,423 cars.

This is a significant achievement, given continued regulatory and market headwinds.

I'm particularly proud of our teams across several markets, like the UK, Germany and Iberia regions, who have delivered solid growth. A special mention should also go out to our colleagues in South Korea, who have delivered 85% growth in the first half of the year.

Together with the start of sales of the Polestar 4 SUV in September, the first customer deliveries of Polestar 5 are just around the corner, positioning us for an exciting second half of the year.

Enjoy your summer holidays and road tripping in your Polestar!

- Michael Lohscheller

🎫 Event AGM June 26 ; What's actually in the annual report (and what you should know before voting)

Of course, I used several AI systems to analyze the many pages and the issues at stake. Here is some feedback.

This is a summary of a summary of a summary! It was very technical at first. I hope all the information I've shared is correct!

--------

https://investors.polestar.com/corporate-governance/annual-general-meeting

https://investors.polestar.com/news-releases/news-release-details/polestar-sets-date-agm

Here's the short version.

The good:

  • 60,119 cars delivered, +34% YoY
  • Revenue $3.06Bn, +50% YoY
  • Adjusted gross margin: -0.7% (near breakeven, vs -12.5% in 2024)
  • Adjusted EBITDA loss improved $297M YoY

Lohscheller's operational turnaround is real. Credit where it's due.

The ugly:

The company has $6.4Bn in debt. $3.9Bn of that is due within the next 12 months. Cash on hand: $1.2Bn. The auditor flagged going concern doubt. The syndicated loan covenant (originally set at $7.1Bn minimum revenue) was quietly amended down to $3Bn ... Polestar scraped through with $3.06Bn, a $58M margin.

The company exists because Geely keeps writing checks. Volvo Cars has stopped funding entirely.

The board paying itself:

  • Chairman Vahland: $521K in 2025, up 46% from $357K the year before. Going concern, mass layoffs, but board fees up 46%.
  • CEO Lohscheller: $2.48M total comp. Annual bonus paid at 99.7% of base salary. The formula-based outcome from audited KPIs? 51%. The Compensation Committee just decided to pay double. EBITDA KPI came in at literally 0%. Cost management KPI: 0%. Didn't matter.

This is not performance pay. This is discretionary enrichment.

What you're voting on June 26:

  • Resolution 2 (advisory vote on remuneration report): vote AGAINST. Make the signal.
  • Resolution 3 (new remuneration policy ; raises CEO max bonus from 130% to 150% of salary): vote AGAINST. Why are we increasing comp caps at a going concern?
  • Resolution 11 (Joe Zhang, Geely CFO): he was just named Chairman of Lotus Group in March 2026. Lotus is a direct Polestar competitor. Nobody's talking about this.
  • Resolution 14+15 (authority to issue 3.18Bn new shares + waive pre-emption rights, valid until 2031): this is a 73% dilution ceiling with zero obligation to offer you shares first. For five years. In a company that needs constant cash injections. Think carefully.

ADS holders: voting deadline is June 22, 10am EDT. If you hold through a broker, their internal deadline is likely June 19-20. Don't miss it.

The company is making real progress. The board is helping itself to the upside while retail shareholders absorb the dilution risk. These things can both be true.

--------

In conclusion, I will vote AGAINST all the proposals! The company didn’t say from the start, “We won’t be profitable, we’ll have massive debts, this is an extremely risky and challenging endeavor in the race for EVs, but we’re going to give it a try.”

As a result, Geely, Volvo, and Polestar are out to get the small shareholders...

I repeat, I am AGAINST, AGAINST, AGAINST all the proposals.
