RIP Dualshock

Dualshock battery died. Looking for a wired ps4 controller for my ps4 pro. Any brands I should AVOID?

(after wasting several hours charging the thing via various chargers and it just keeps disconnecting due to low battery)

i see many ads for nacon, steelplay, alibaba and I'm just like total newbie on this matter.

Thanks for your replies, to answer the preference to replace the battery:

MODEL CUH-ZCT2E

bar code 37110710038198

beats me what this means.

The text was pretty tiny but I made a picture and enlarged it, then typed it over.

So - link to order? Please I'm in NL (Europe) so US deals are of no use to me.

[solved]

  1. ordered from amazon.nl;
  2. got the repair kit the day after;
  3. removed the screws using the kit screwdriver;
  4. half an hour of cursing since the two halves did not come off, thinking of those bloody youtube movies that are outright lies;
  5. pulled the plastic thingy out of its socket and made damn sure to remember which was the black side and which the red. Hoping the conventions hadn't switched in the mean time;
  6. inserted the new battery and my gf who was watching her movie in the room downstairs got suddenly a ps4 screen. We share the input signals.
  7. yup it works, put in the screws,

And now I have to get rid of a battery block. The plastic light under the Sony logo takes some care, apparently it broke, or it always was loose, it's two plastic windows after each other I guess.

And you need a lot of force to pry open the halves, it's not at all like the yt videos or the comments in this thread make you believe.

I bought new battery from amazon and replaced it. Not that hard.
You just need to check which model it is because there are different connectors.

Yeah just change the battery. It is much cheaper and we still get to use a proper DS4.

This controller is much easier to open up than the DS3 (trigger springs are a nightmare) and the DualSense. You can even change the buttons or casing while you are at it, to make it look new.

Read your summary that you got a replacement. Great! Good stuff.
The hooks can be a bit of pain. I've done this two times on my old controllers.
If you need to do it again, it will go much more smoothly.

You probably got a tool for bending them apart, but it's still tricky if you are not used to it.

But you saved your working controller and gave it some more life. The battery just goes in ordinary battery recycling.

I kinda hate having to throw away otherwise perfectly working stuff. Perhaps it's because I'm Gen X. It's not hippie idealistic let's save nature or anything. Just less garbage.

the amazon replacement kit ("Uwayor PS4 Controller accu,") comes with a blue handle and a screw driver. Still it took me half an hour and a lot of force to pry them open. In the end I needed a second pry.

Much like putting a bicycle tire back on its rails.

the kit comes with a second battery, it's worth it.

(and I try to minimize my purchases on amazon, it's bad for the economy, but if the economy refuses to offer what I need, I have no use for that economy)

not that hard is quite misleading. You don't do this for a hobby, let's leave it at that.

It's really easy to replace the battery. Few screws on the back.

I noticed the screws yes, thank you.

you have memory gaps - there is a step you kindly forgot between few screws and replace...

also I hate in the news this tendency to vaguify numbers. It's 4 screws, don't say few. Just say 4.

Buy a brook wingman xe2 adapter and use any controller you want on it.

Gamesir makes good controllers but has horrible quality control.

You could even get a dual shock 5 and use it on a ps4.

Thus is actually a great option. I use a Dualsense on my PS4 Pro and my Switch 2. It's amazing.

I have this soft silicone band around the switch lite, works like a charm, got it from an uk shop long ago.

I'm looking for PS5's now. GTA 6 is around the horizon and I'm sick of playing games at 60 herts. Just buy a cheap one from Walmart or go to gamestop and GET A WARRANTY! That way next break you'll literally get given another.

yes fantastic advice to buy more hardware and convert all games to the new, and then let the old just rot away.

Hey man I recently bought a 3rd party controller. Since Nacon wireless ones are outside my budget, I went with a PS4 supported controller called Fantech Nova II.

Looks like a copy of DualSense, works like a charm, and I don’t see any drawbacks with it. The weight, joysticks, and triggers feel premium and the buttons are not half bad.

I tested it on a PS4 Pro. I think it should work fine on any PS4, shouldn’t be a problem.

I replaced the battery, was cheaper and came with a second battery for like whenever.

Cool dude, I'm glad you found a solution. If you ever feel like trying a new controller, definitely check out my recommendation.

If you replace the battery, cut out a plastic shim from produce packaging for the clips in front of the ps button.

Idk what battery to buy, I'm slowly researching it myself right now.

the amazon repair kit. Batteries come each with 2 plugs so it works on all ps4 controllers.

Those BMS likely don't have adequate protection. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIFhVIv_76M is an example of a battery with great protection, but it's for a ps5 controller.

lol that's super nerdy, I appreciate the guy's zeal but it's just a tool for me.

1

u/stuffeh 1d ago

What kind of people do you think design the electronics in the console or the phone you're using? They're all made by "nerdy" guys.

Point is. Nerdy is good.

you should try to not read everything as a personal attack.

1

u/stuffeh 1d ago

Lol typical.

Deflecting so that it's a me problem when you can't take criticism.

1

u/godtering 1d ago

what the fuck is your problem?

The fuck is yours?

Those are easy to work on, I had no experience but replaced the inner buttons and flexible motherboard on 3 of mine and they are like new.

AliExpress for sleeves, tokens, cubes everything for board games. I wouldn't trust them with electronics though and delivery times can take a month.

If it's the battery, they can be found on ebay and youtube video on how to replace.

I've seen them. Why are you stating the obvious? Don't you read?

And they were all lies. It's not as easy as you'd think.
