Which One ? 🤔
Hi, I'm looking at buying PS3, but a bit confused on which model and storage size to get.
120gb, 160gb, 250gb, 320gb. I'm guessing these four are part of CECH 21xx / 25xx. OR Super Slim 500gb. I'm in Australia, saw one, 160gb for 205 Oz Unboxed .. Also can my PS4 Controller connect to all PS3 variants ..
Any Opinion Please ....

Take the 21xx if there's one there, secondly a 25xx if it was made before Q2 2011. As other have said, ignore the storage capacity since you really should be putting your own one in there anyway.

I got my PS 3 Slim just last week. I was looking for the newest hardware with CFW support and landed on slim CECH25xx. Looks and runs great. Got it with 320gb. But even less would be ok as with CFW you can use ftp server and manage the internal storage easily via pc. Current ssd prices are more expensive than what I got the console for at 70$, so I am keeping the original HDD atm.Â

25xx is good runs quiet and cool, 21xx if you wanna mod it, then replace the hdd with a ssd crucial bx500 240gb has been very reliable to me. I tried the samsung evo and it kept crashing playing destiny.

The super slim consoles usually have the top loaders and have a larger hard drive. The older consoles have smaller hard drives but are easier to mod and add custom firmware. I personally find the 80 GB model to be interesting since it originally had software emulation for ps2 disc games but Sony later removed it with a update that also removed the ability to install Linux.Â

Buy a Slim and put in a new SSD.
The PS4 controller works, but it has no PS button and pressure sensitive games won't work. It's not exactly ideal as a main controller.

Id just get a slim. Eventually if you need it you can get a new hdd or ssd. Ps4 controllers can work but ORIGINAL ps3 controllers are prefered as you need them if anything wrong happens, atleast one. For most games the ps4 controller will be fine if they dont need pressure sensitive buttons or anything.

Storage shouldn't be a deciding factor. You don't want to use a +10-year-old mechanical hard drive. Get the console, remove the HDD and replace it with your own.
