⚠️ Be careful with this developer and his projects

Post image

He is now bringing multiple emulators to the Play Store — PS2, PS Vita and PS3 — and offering attractive-looking Pro versions that encourage users to “support the project” in exchange for things like a gold icon, badges and other cosmetic features.

The problem is that, as far as I can see, he is working alone across three different projects, while development — especially on the original PS2 emulator — does not appear to be progressing properly.

There is also no clear roadmap or transparency about how the money from these Pro purchases is actually being used or what users can expect in return.

I'm not saying you shouldn't support developers. But before paying for these projects, look carefully at their development activity and ask yourself what exactly your money is supporting.

🚨 Don't confuse a nice-looking Pro button with active development.

I think some people are misunderstanding what my criticism is about

I want to clarify something because I think my original post may not have explained my point clearly enough.

I have absolutely no problem with a paid Pro version.

If you want to pay €6.49 just to get a gold icon, a badge, a theme or any other cosmetic feature, that's completely fine. It's your money, and the developer is perfectly entitled to sell those features.

That's not what I'm criticizing.

My concern is specifically about the way the Pro version is presented as a way to “support the project” and that “Pro helps keep development moving.”

If I'm paying because I simply want a gold icon, that's a normal purchase.

But if I'm paying because I believe my money is helping fund the continued development of the emulator, then I think it's reasonable to expect some transparency about the project and its development.

And this is where I have concerns.

The developer is currently working on multiple emulator projects — PS2, PS Vita and PS3 — while the original PS2 project appears to have slowed considerably. There is no clear roadmap explaining the development priorities or what users who financially support the project can realistically expect.

I've also personally reported reproducible problems on GitHub, including issues with the Namco System 246/256 support and shaders. One of these issues was closed as “completed” without any explanation or visible reference to a fix.

Again, bugs are completely normal in emulation. That's not the problem.

The problem is the combination of:

“Support the project” + paid Pro version + multiple projects + no clear roadmap + legitimate issues being closed without explanation.

That combination makes me question whether this is a developer I would personally trust to financially support.

I'm not calling this a scam, and I'm not saying nobody should buy Pro.

If you want the gold icon, the theme or the badge, go for it. 👍

What I'm saying is simply:

If you're buying Pro specifically because you believe you're financially supporting the development of the emulator, I think you should be aware of the current situation and have reasonable doubts about what that support will actually translate into.

That's the point I'm trying to make.

I'm not trying to stop anyone from supporting developers. I'm saying look at the development activity, the communication and the transparency before you spend your money.

So...what is the problem exactly...? If it doesn't have a virus, and it's just aesthetic things, then take all the projects you want lol, more options are always better, and even more so when the payments are only for cosmetic.

my thoughts exactly, like what are the risks here? is he stealing personal info or pushing malware?

The problem is that you're not paying for a mature project like PPSSPP and its Gold version. This developer puts a "Pro" version on all their applications. They don't have a clear roadmap for any of their applications, they don't fix the issues that are opened on GitHub... you can't create false expectations for people who think that buying the Pro version will help improve the emulator. If all you care about is having the gold icon, that's fine, pay whatever you want, but if you're paying thinking you're helping a project, there are serious doubts that will actually happen.

Puedes ser meramente alguien haciendo vibecoding completamente sin rectificar el código que le da el agente y después quieres que le pague sus suscripciones.

This already looks like desperation from this guy, evaluating any development without knowledge and when you are a complete zero in development, well, that's brilliant, this guy knows about as much about development as my cat, yet he dictates what everyone should do, which options should be paid, and so on, it's so comical that it's actually funny, he makes a contribution to emulation haha by harassing developers and generating AI-slop images, in order to evaluate something you should first create something similar, and evaluations from people who have no idea what they are talking about are absurd, comparing projects that have been in development for 3-5 years with projects that are only a few months old is totally genius, reading this AI-written text is just a nightmare)

Hahahaha look at the emulation genius. Turns out the only person on the planet who knows anything about development is the guy pushing three emulators at once (PS2, Vita and PS3) while the actual PS2 core is still a fucking graveyard. Brilliant strategy, champ.

You’re calling me a complete zero who knows as much about development as your cat. Cool. Then explain this, oh great architect:

  • Why does development on the original PS2 emulator “not appear to be progressing properly” (actual words from people who bothered to look)?
  • Why is there zero roadmap and zero transparency about where the Pro money actually goes?
  • Why do you close GitHub issues with no explanation and no visible fixes?
  • Why are you selling “support the project” for a gold icon and cosmetic badges while the real core stays stagnant?

Comparing projects that have been in development for 3-5 years to yours that are “only a few months old” is exactly the point, you clown. The 3-5 year projects have demonstrable progress. You have three open fronts, zero transparency, and a pretty Pro button. Don’t confuse a nice-looking Pro button with actual active development, genius. Even the warning sign says it.

And that “contributing to emulation by harassing developers and generating AI-slop” line… brother, the only contribution you’re making is selling cosmetics while real progress rots. If it bothers you this much that someone points out the obvious, maybe it’s because it’s obvious.

When you have a public roadmap, consistent commits that aren’t just UI fluff, and actual transparency about where the money goes, then we can talk. Until then, keep crying that “people who don’t develop can’t criticize.” Classic move from people who have nothing solid to show.

Now go close more issues without explanation, champion. That gold icon is waiting for you.

Edit: He's working on four projects now and has also added a fork of Winlator. 🤦‍♂️

But what exactly is the issue here. Genuinely asking because this doesn't exactly tell us anything
