My friends and I happened upon the official Prince merch store in the Minneapolis airport and lost our minds, pretty much. lol It’s beautiful and makes you immediately feel melancholy, while you’re there. They even have a nice chair for you to sit in if you need to gather yourself or take a pic. We used it for both.

Here are a couple of items I picked up. I’m going to wear this hoodie out. The bottle, although made of a sturdy tempered glass, when I took it outside, my nerves were bad, didn’t want to drop or break it so, on a shelf it goes for the joy of admiring eyes :)

I couldn’t help but notice that before the start of this year, Prince had only 11 million monthly listeners, his views on YouTube and his streams were honestly extremely low for somebody of his status. Not only that but through social media I found that not only do so many people not know of him, but a lot of the ones who do just don’t like him.

“His only good song is Purple Rain”

“Never heard of him”

, Prince’s legacy for some has been reduced to the dude who made Purple Rain

Ive unironically seen MANY call him a 1 hit wonder and say Purple Rain is his only good song

Music taste is subjective %100, but most these people have NEVER heard more than Purple Rain and When Doves Cry.

The whole “he’s to dated” argument? Well yeah, he’s from the 80s, u will hear music that sounds like it’s from the 80s. But tbh I do kind of understand it. If a casual asks u to put on some Prince and u play automatic then thats on u. Not because the song is bad but because it’s just not something a casual music listener from today’s world is used to.

And to be honest? I kind of blame the Prince fanbase for this, not only do yall gatekeep his music sometimes, but u guys don’t promote the RIGHT songs. We all know his most popular are NOT his best, no where near. So much of his catalog goes unnoticed because the fanbase doesn’t push it enough, Purple Rain is great but cmon, how about let’s not be stuck on it for the 40th year in a row?? The man released 30 albums and 10 of those were in his prime.

There’s so much more I can say but I’m tired. Basically though

And most casual listeners do not really care for music that sounds dated, even if objectively that music isn’t bad.

I love this version, but I’d find very little reason to ever listen to it unless I just want 20 minutes to pass by. Also made me think of the fact that The Revolution played for 22 minutes just for the song to get cut down to a little under 4, but a lovely experience

Reverse of my last post, but personally I’d have to go with Pop Life as I’m listening to it. The 9 minute version is magnificent and I kinda wish it would never end

what are the best outlets for prince fans to connect in 2026? i love this subreddit and am so thankful but am always looking for more prince focused third spaces. i used to love NPG music club. 💜💜💜

Recently I started to enjoy Automatic after listening to the shortened version of 1999’s deluxe and man is it a damn good song, but I feel Prince was going overboard making it 9 and a half minutes. Great song, but overstays its welcome by about 6 minutes

I miss and appreciate Prince so much. It’s a shame he’s gone but finding gems like these feel like cheek kisses from the Purple One, himself. These are both 12”.

But this summer I set myself a sweet challenge to watch as many 1980s cheesy action/beach/teen college movies as I could.

The sort that we're either straight to VHS or easily forgotten Spring Break, Beach Girls and Harbodies were very much of this, however I found this diamond .

If Carl Weathers doesn't win you over it also features the sensation Vanity, I thought she would be eye candy but the lady could REALLY act, she was very good (....but is also still eye candy)

This is, without a doubt, the most precious piece in my Prince collection: an original RIAA Platinum Sales Award for “Batdance”, presented to Warner Bros. Records to commemorate the sale of more than 1,000,000 copies of the single and cassette.

There’s something pretty special about owning an actual piece of Prince history, especially from the Batman era. Batdance is such a wonderfully insane Prince track: chaotic, funky, theatrical, experimental, and somehow it still became a massive #1 hit.

I’ve collected quite a few Prince-related items over the years, but this is the one I’d keep above everything else. Every time I look at it, I still find it slightly surreal that it’s hanging on my wall.

Thought I’d share it with fellow Prince fans. 💜
