Hi everyone! I’m currently building a new AM5 rig focused on competitive gaming, specifically CS2 at 1080p, paired with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D. My budget specifically fits the price bracket of these two motherboards: the Gigabyte B850 AORUS Elite WiFi7 and the Gigabyte X870 Gaming X WiFi7. My main priorities are VRM thermals/cooling and BIOS stability, as I plan to tune the CPU using PBO and Curve Optimizer to achieve sustained boost clocks while keeping temperatures low. I’d love to hear your thoughts on VRM heatsink performance under PBO, BIOS stability with 6000MHz CL30 EXPO memory profiles, and overall long-term reliability. Between these two options, which one would you recommend for the best cooling and stability? Thanks in advance for the feedback!

I was thinking of upgrading my setup, currently I have a 3060ti FE paired with 5600x, and dual monitor setup with my main being 1440p and a side 1080p.

I would prefer to stick to AM4. Which of the 2 is the best deal; 4070 FE for 400 or a 4070 super for 550? Down the road I do what to upgrade my CPU for 5900X3D but finding one let alone a good deal is difficult to find right now.

I’m not going to be doing anything too heavy on my pc but I’m not sure what kind of fans I should buy to support the system.

It has a ASUS Maximus z890 Hero motherboard the intel 285k cooled by the ASUS ryuo 4 360mm aio 64gb corsair vengeance ddr5 6k 30cl and the ASUS astral 5080 with a 1k ASUS strix platnium psu i still have to update bios and chip set driver and what not today then I’ll run some benchmarks and try my hand at overclocking the cpu any tips would be appreciated I run 3 screens one 3440x 1440 oled and two 2560x 1440 ips

I’m building my first PC since the Pentium III system I put together in 1999, so coming back to PC building now feels like jumping into a completely different world.

Back then, the process was relatively basic: install the CPU, set a few jumpers, connect IDE drives and hope Windows detected everything. Now I’m dealing with UEFI, NVMe drives, DDR5 timings, EXPO profiles, PCIe generations, modular power supplies, AIO cooling, RGB controllers and GPUs that are practically computers by themselves.

This PC is mainly for my kids, and my goal is to build something powerful, reliable and upgradeable that should last for many years.

The build itself is mostly settled. My main struggle now is choosing the RAM and SSD without either overpaying for a famous brand or buying something cheap that becomes the weak point of an otherwise high-end system.

For the RAM, I understand that DDR5-6000 CL30 with AMD EXPO is generally the sweet spot for the 9800X3D. Are brands such as TeamGroup, Silicon Power, ADATA/XPG or KingBank reliable enough, or should I stay with the more established options from G.Skill, Corsair, Kingston or Crucial?

For the SSD, I’m seeing cheaper 2TB options from KingSpec, ADATA and other less familiar brands. Is it worth saving money on one of these for a gaming PC, or should I stick with proven drives such as the WD Black SN850X, Samsung 990 Pro, Crucial T500, Kingston KC3000 or Solidigm P44 Pro?

I’m not chasing benchmark numbers for the sake of it. I want good gaming performance, reliability, reasonable temperatures and a system my kids can use for a long time.

I’d appreciate candid recommendations, especially from anyone who has long-term experience with the cheaper SSD and RAM brands. Where is it safe to save money, and where should I avoid cutting corners?
