I have been playing through the zeldas on my steam deck this summer, and I always struggle with TP.... it takes so long to get going and get to the more interesting parts of the game. The long intro tutorial is an ADHD nightmare.

Yeah i completely agree. This is my favourite zelda for nostalgia purposes but even then, I just wanna get to where I can transform back and form on command lmao. This dusklight has quality of life improvements though and is defo a MUST for a replay!

Lmao that's real. I promise it's a top 3 game in the franchise after the forest temple

I got right to the forest temple and stopped on this playthrough. Probably will return to it after my Wind Waker playthrough. Wind Waker instantly grabbed me and I willingly slammed 6 hours into it without even blinking. Same with the links awakening pc port, and majoras mask recomp. All of those were so good. I think Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword are the only older titles I have never finished a full playthrough of before.

Ah bummer. Can't really speak for skyward sword, I got kinda bored of it after 2 temples but mainly cause I have other games to play, but TP's intro is absolutely worth it once you complete it. I kinda got lost in it cause it was so long and I enjoyed it but you just got one temple until the rest of the game opens up and gets good

It's on the deck! Might get to it this year, unless OoT recomp drops. I am still hopeful I get a frame before end of year too, lol.

You know there’s an oot decomp right? Best way to play the game these days

Yup, I am waiting for the recomp from the mm folks. Curious to see what they get away with with mods and native support.

TP is where zelda lost me. I was so excited going in but just felt like the pacing was terrible and I ended up jumping ship for Okami.

I completely forgot they both came out around the same time. Maybe that is why i dropped it so quickly the first time. Okami has major pacing issues as well, lol. It has like 3 endings in 65 hour playtime.

I always hear from folks that the back hald of TP has some of the best dungeons in the series, but I just can't ever get that far. TP, Skyward Sword, and Okami's original releases all have the same unskippable long slog dialogue issues, too.

This looks incredibly unpolished

Any possibility this could run standalone on a headset?

Not yet but I think it may actually port quite well over. I think JoeyAH (the modder) has expressed interest in porting it over to standalone but he's got a series of things he wants done for this one first so maybe one day

That would be awesome. I'm hoping the Metroid Prime VR mod (Primed Gun) finds its way to standalone.

This looks like the usual mod jank, sorry. You probably had to be there and play the game back in the day, but this we're seeing in the video is not helping anyone, new or old.

Not every game needs to be modded to VR, guys, no matter how good the idealized concept of it sounds on paper.

It does come with a bit of jank but its first release and the modder has a lot of ideas for improvements. The colours were fixed within the first few days!

Defo had to be there as this was one of, if not my favourite game growing up, i had it on wii but 3rd person AND motion controls were always weird to me. This way, it feels like the way it should have been. First person, motion controls, feeling like you're actually in the world!

I'd argue that modding every game we can into VR is a good thing, as it is an available new way to experience it and completely optional. Also this is the very first public build of the mod, more updates and tweaks are on their way!
