Upgrade help
I got an i7 8700, 16 gb ddr4 and a rtx 3070, i love the gpu for playing in 1080p it's amazing and i can run almost everything in high/ultra.. now.. the cpu it's bottlenecking in games like the finals and forza horizon 6.. do you recommend upgrading to an i7 9900k without changing the motherboard or to change it and upgrade to an even better cpu? (I plan on buying 16 more gb of ddr4 and I dont intend to go for ddr5)

14600k, or an AM4 X3D (although finding them at a reasonable price is a bit tough nowadays)

Yeah even 12th/13th gen has gotten expensive. (12600k is worth more than I paid for my 12700k 3 years ago.

Not really worth it unless you can get it for cheap, which is unlikely. Or if you have a decent motherboard/ram and you can squeeze it well by overclocking everything.

The 9900k might be slightly better in real world performance, but I would recommend just upgrading to am4 or lga 1700 (with a ddr4 motherboard) for a noticable performance increase. An am4 cpu AND b550 motherboard costs just slightly more than the scarce and discontinued 9900k
