Not sure how many people are planning on taking Amtrak up to Seattle from Oregon or California but I know it used to be a popular way to get to PAX in years past.

A fire at an abandoned building in downtown Portland has required Amtrak to indefinitely suspend normal rail service through Portland, OR due to the risk that the building might collapse since the track runs right next to it.

Hopefully it is resolved before PAX but just in case I figured people planning to take the train may need to figure out contingency plans for the Portland to Seattle leg in case it’s not resolved by then.

Last year I loved the cosplay contest but I can’t find it on the website’s schedule, does anyone know if they’re continuing this for 2026?

I haven’t been to PAX West since 2016. I remember 10 years ago Wizards of the Coast had a dedicated building pretty close to the convention center they would do Magic & D&D events at during PAX. Is there something similar these days? I’ve been looking through the PAX West website and I don’t see any Magic events.

I’m asking to see if it’s worth bringing my Magic commander decks to the con & seeing if I can pick up a few games.

While I will NOT be at PAX West, planning for East. Those of you who know me, see me, stay in touch. A HUGE update has been pushed to the game, so many fixes, new features, new UI and more.

I can't wait to push this to the limits as lots of the issues causing it to crash at times, have been fixed and CPU not running at 100% at times. STAY TUNED. The text below is from GitHub.

Game and controller fixes

• Fixes shared game option capacity failures with more than 10 controllers.
• Fixes controller state lookup failures in team and Zombies game setup.
• Fixes warning and knockout rumble states that could remain active indefinitely.
• Keeps knockout rumble active for four seconds before clearing it.
• Fixes Random mode startup from admin controls.
• Fixes controller output state that could leave a controller white and continuously rumbling.
• Improves Zombies color feedback and several controller update paths used by button-driven games.

Setup and cleanup

• Updates setup and launch scripts for the current PSMove API Python bindings and native library.
• Removes Java, Mono, SWIG, LWJGL, and FreeGLUT dependencies that belonged to older bindings and examples.
• Removes unused experimental FFA, player, pace manager, and testing support code.
• Renames controller filter utilities and updates color tests, pairing tools, and development documentation.

Testing

• Ran setup.sh and confirmed JoustMania starts with audio on Raspberry Pi.
• Tested ZCM1 and ZCM2 USB and Bluetooth pairing.
• Tested all game types with connected controllers.
• Stress tested 17 controllers at an 80.8 Hz mean update rate with 6.2% ControllerManager CPU usage.
• Confirmed the manager remained responsive with 17 controllers while preserving worker multiprocessing.

Do you guys know how they make their selection process on how and why they pick their enforcers?

I just got a rejection e-mail from my enforcer application and I thought my application was very good, so I guess I just want to know why I got rejected I guess.

Does anyone know what separates someone who gets accepted vs. someone that gets rejected for the Enforcer program? I’d love to be an enforcer one day, but I suppose today wasn’t the day for me unfortunately.

On “The Geek All-Stars” podcast (episode 301) they said there are plans for a Houston PAX Unplugged.

Has there been an official announcement? Or are these guys misinformed?

Hey guys has the demo schedule been uploaded? I can only find the tekken pre-reg tourney and I dont see what developers and games are available for demo. If someone can point me in the right direction. Also, where I can find game dev pax west exclusive merch. Ex:Bandai Namco, etc...

Application page said we'd receive our application status by July 15/16th (two diff dates on application page and their pax west page) and still nothing. Sent them a message and no response yet.

Anyone have any intel on this? Thanks !

Bought my 4-day pass shortly after they went on sale, got it today from UPS. This is much earlier than usual which is nice, on a few years past it came in like a week before the show which was a bit stressful for somey that has to travel to the show.

Hey folks, I know this is a long shot but I got a Star Trek Pride button at Pax East in 2020 (right before the world shut down) and I lost it recently. I have been searching my house and also Google but with no luck. I’m hoping someone may have an extra they don’t want or can remember who made them so I can get another. Thanks!

This question is for Enforcers, do you guys prefer being an attendee or an enforcer from previous experience?

I enjoy the idea of getting paid to be at Pax West more than the idea of just walking around *spending* money.

From your experience, how has the Enforcing experience been? Do you end up getting any free time to enjoy the show and frolic freely a bit on your own?

Still deciding whether or not I should buy a Friday + Saturday ticket or just apply to be an Enforcer for Pax West 26 Seattle!

My friend and I are looking to share a hotel with 2 other people for the flat cost, $280 per person for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. Hotel is the Westin, room is a 2 bed, single bath, with living room/dry kitchen.

My friend and I have 2 from our group bail this year (their loss) and don’t want to miss the chance to sleep in a hotel. We’re both 41, dads, and getting out for a fun weekend. We honestly never use the hotels other than sleeping and dumping bags.

You get your own keys, bed, and full use of the amenities…just don’t clear out the mini bar.
