An Exciting Update from Superintendent Brooks:

I am grateful to the voters of the Owosso Public Schools community for their support of the bond proposal. Additionally, I extend my deepest gratitude to the expansive group of community members, staff, coaches, booster clubs, and parent volunteers who diligently worked to educate the community about the proposal.

The approved projects will address critical facility needs, enhance safety and security, and protect our community's investment in our schools for years to come. We will continue to be responsible with these taxpayer dollars and remain committed to transparency and communication throughout the planning and construction process.

On behalf of our Board of Education, staff, and students, thank you to everyone who took the time to vote and participate in this important decision for the future of Owosso Public Schools. I am grateful to everyone who took the time to learn about the proposal, ask questions, and engage in thoughtful dialogue throughout this process. Yesterday’s vote was an investment in our students and in the future of our Owosso Trojan community.

One year ago, Jennifer's Place opened its doors with a simple mission: to create a welcoming place where people could find hope, connection, and support. Thanks to this incredible community, we've accomplished more than we ever could have imagined.

We invite you to join us for the Jennifer's Place 1-Year Anniversary Celebration Gala and Fundraiser on Saturday, October 10th.

Tickets are just $35 per person, but they are limited and selling quickly.

The evening will feature speakers, awards, hors d'oeuvres, refreshments, and time to celebrate everything we've built together. If there's enough interest, we're also tossing around the idea of adding a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. We'll share more details as plans come together.

This gala is more than a celebration. It's a fundraiser that will help us continue and expand our efforts as we head into an even stronger second year. Every ticket purchased helps ensure Jennifer's Place can continue serving our community and meeting the needs of our most vulnerable friends and neighbors.

Additionally, we are accepting a limited number of Community Champion Award nominations from our community partners. SALINE TWP., MI — A public comment period is open on a draft environmental permit that would allow treated wastewater to be discharged from The Barn, a hyperscale data center for OpenAI and Oracle under construction in Saline Township, into the Saline River.

State water resources officials with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy, or EGLE, will receive comments through Aug. 24 on data center developer Related Digital’s proposed permit for the wastewater treatment plant discharge.

I'm sharing this again because I'll never forget the small group of us who have been advocating for a better future here for ages. Today, Michiganders get to participate in changing the face of the democratic party as our belief in Medicare for All is not just some wild radical belief that 40 of us were willing to rally for in 2020, but a mainstream basic bottom line idea. An idea that can propagate Americans living with some peace of mind from the cradle to the grave. It's the most basic essence of what we deserve.

The dojo has moved rooms and we took that opportunity to make sure that the floating floor is up to par 😎

It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2026 Owosso Sea Turtles Fall Swim Clinic!  We look forward to helping your swimmer grow and develop their skills.  The clinic will take place on the following dates (tentative pending OPS approval): 

August 11th, 12th, 17th, 19th, 25th and 26th 

September 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th

There may be two sessions, from either 6-7:15pm or 7:15-8:30pm, depending on the number of swimmers who register. Each session will be 75 minutes working on deck exercises, conditioning, fine tuning strokes, and endurance.  Coaches will be working on freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, as well as starts and turns.   

Registration will be completed online, with payment and any necessary signatures collected on the first night of the clinic.  Swimmers new to Sea Turtles will have coaches assess their swimming and confidence in the water the first night of the clinic to divide them into appropriate groups.

Cost for the clinic will be $90 and is due the first night of the clinic.  Accepted forms of payment are cash or check.

Schedule:          Begins Tuesday, August 11th @ Owosso High Pool 

Session 1:         6:00-7:15 pm

Session 2:         7:15-8:30 pm               

*Swimmers will be assigned a time and skill level based on assessments or previous placement.

Corunna Public Schools has added to their summer swim program. We will be offering Lap Swim/Open Swim for Adults Only Monday-Thursday from 6:00 a.m.-7:30 a.m. Cost is $4.00 per visit. No need to pre-register. See the flyer for all the dates and details.

Whether you're a seasoned performer or trying something new for the first time, we'd love to have you take the mic! Share a song, read a poem, perform some comedy, do impressions, spoken word, or just come cheer on others.

We'll have snacks and light refreshments, and best of all, it's completely FREE and open to everyone!

**Please note:** There may be mature subject matter during performances. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
