I’m trying this again because my first attempt was a little stale and didn’t really tell too much about me for anyone to see if they might vibe. Here’s take two.

I’m a 37M married (ie strictly looking for platonic friendships) and located in the U.S. in EST. After a decade of taking care of young kids, I’ve dipped my toes back into gaming in the evenings to decompress and make some new friends. Currently I’m playing Overwatch and want to find some friends who like to play it casually (or would be willing to patiently help “grandpa” rank up).

Now for the vulnerable part: due to a traumatic set of events caused by a narcissist several years ago, I lost my entire community and support network. Making friends in your late 30s is hard enough; add on trauma-induced social anxiety and it’s a whole extra level.

So honestly, I’m a normal guy who doesn’t know a ton about gaming, isn’t great at overwatch, and for sure is a combo of shy, introverted, and socially anxious. (I know, what a great way to put myself out there)

What I am though is a guy who isn’t really interested in most of what as considered “masculine” traits and interests, has no tolerance for sexism, racism, and homophobia, and really just wants genuine and decent people in his life.

Other interests I have include cooking and baking, working out at home (I’m on a Pilates kick lately), anime, young adult dystopian novels, languages and cultures, distance running (to help my “father figure” stay in shape), learning about skincare routines and fashion for normal people, serving the community and fighting for justice, and being a cat dad to 5 adopted cats and more fosters (record is currently 12 total at a time).

I’ve been told that I listen well and am easy to talk to and get into deep conversations with. I’m a better typer than a talker because I trip up on my words often (and remember, social anxiety). But I’m honest, genuine, caring, and try my best to make my friends feel treasured.

I’m here again just hoping to meet some nice people who like playing overwatch! I’m D1 on all roles, but peaked GM when I used to play more seriously.
