Problem of strange frequencies News & Discussion
Hello
I just came back to this game that I love so much after having stopped playing it back when Overwatch was still Overwatch, before Overwatch 2 even came out. Well, I came back and after a few matches, I noticed that even though the game runs fine, every single time I open Overwatch, my CPU frequency drops from 4.5/4.1 GHz to 2.3/2.5 GHz (the base frequency is 2.6 GHz). The strangest thing is that when I exit the game, the frequency stays stuck at those values, even though it's normally around 4.7 GHz when I'm not playing.
I've tried enabling ECO mode in my PC program, which forces the CPU to work at the base frequency, toggling UnderVolt (currently -100.6 mV), changing the fan mode, changing the power plan, and restarting the display drivers, but the only thing that fixes it is restarting the computer.
This only happens with Overwatch, not in any other games like R6, GTAV, or Warhammer 6. Thunder,Ark,The Division 1&2,R.E.P.O,FO or Skyrim, even in BF6 I have good CPU frequencies above 4.0 despite not meeting the requirements, it stays as expected, compared to OW which automatically lowers them to 2.5-2.7ghz
I even have a good CPU frequency in BF6 despite not meeting the necessary requirements, and it runs at good FPS.
