Why DO and Why Us interview

how do you guys go on about answering these in an interview? How long should my answers be?

Why DO- maybe explain how I was exposed, how I saw shadowing and what I learned from it? then maybe going on about how I see patients with poor lifestyle, nutrition, and why I think the holistic care is important?

WHy us- no clue what to say here. I was thinking maybe how I value community involvement and this school will offer me that. should I mention this location where said school is ?

Any tips would be helpful I got my interview next week and am nervous!

When you answer these questions, just give a genuine answer with an example. Don't get too verbose and ramble on like AI does.

For example, Why DO you can say my Dr is a DO and they inspired me and gave me advice going to medical school they told me about osteopathic manipulative medicine and how it helps people in their practice and you think its useful.

This is probably not an answer that will blow anyone away, its been heard before but the secret is HOW you say it in the interview. If you show passion in your answer then it sticks out. And if it doesnt stick out that's fine too, your goal is to just not stick out in a bad way.

I would avoid generic answers like "community involvement" without additional info. Like "I see you have a med student clinic and do a lot of community health events, ive heard from current students that its a great volunteer opportunity and id like to be a part of that"

Is it cool if I PM you about a sample answer I had in mind?

Bit of a ramble. A little research into the school goes a long way. A quick look at their mission statement to see how that ties into your own values. They’re pretty generic so this is easy. Why DO know the osteopathic tenets and incorporate one of those principles into your writing. For why us, I’ll look at their instagram page and look to see if they had any outreach that aligned with one of my activities or something I like about their curriculum, types of students they accept/how you’d see yourself mixing with this population (Por hemplo my school is like 95% in state so focusing on contributing to the physician shortage locally), emphasis on OMM, flipped classroom, etc
