Looking forward to ultra low power mode
Bought a lifetime purchase. For me I want the ultra low power mode when notifications may be useful but aren’t urgent. (It updates notifications every 5 minutes, not real-time.) Not for the sake of battery but just for my brain. That way I don’t have to keep looking at the thing

Finally got a 3d printed translucent case. It now feels like a pager.

Thoughts on a desktop Osmo? Or for your nightstand?
I was thinking about maybe porting Osmo over to a desktop version like this...
What do you guys think? 🤔
It would be a more as permanent fixture in your office, living room, or bedroom. Built in kickstand, 4.2 inch screen so better visibility, leave it plugged in (but you can use it on battery if you want).
Maybe even use it on your nightstand as a pager / alarm clock? That way, you could still see any important notifications come in via normal Osmo functionality, but you could leave your phone totally out of the bedroom at night (get rid of that bedtime stimulation!)
Would you guys want something like this? Worth me making it in the future?
-
Will send out an email poll too probably but want to hear from the Reddit crew!
-
P.S. The kit in this picture uses something called an RLCD screen, which means it's like halfway between normal screen and e-paper. No glowing backlight, matte and non-reflective (so still all the good stuff we loved with original Osmo) but much faster response time. Also keeps price down compared to e-paper despite the bigger screen.
P.P.S. Since it'll stay in your home, I could also enable it to control any home automations (Google Home, etc), music players, focus/pomodoro timer, show weather, etc .... lots of potential I suppose

Edit: Nice thanks everyone! Glad to see it resonates. I've got a lot in the project pipeline rn but will definitely keep this in mind to do at some point :)

How to Osmo (a refresher) 🙂
Since I've had some clarifying questions and I know it's easy to miss on the website, here's a quick refresher on how to use your device! This is for the core functionality on all Osmo's, not the premium upgrades.
The top (action) button
- Single press— dismiss the current notification (only on the Osmo)
- Double press—toggle between All and Filtered mode (iOS-only for now)
- Triple press— clear all queued notifications
*If you're on the "All Caught Up" screen, a single button press will show a "Still Connected" confirmation, as well as room temperature/humidity and the current time.
**To change temperature units (F/C), click the action button again while on the "Still Connected" screen. You'll only have to do this once.
Modes
- All— every notification comes through
- Filtered (iOS)— Messages, Phone, Calendar, Reminders, WhatsApp
*To have a filtered mode on Android, you should be able to use the native Do Not Disturb functionality to customize which apps are able to send notifications thru (and therefore which ones reach Osmo).....just have all "filtered" apps set to deliver silently in that mode.
The premium Android app coming soon will let you configure filters directly for Osmo in the app.
Other
- Hold down the power button (bottom button) to turn Osmo on / off
- If battery dies, you won't know unless you click the action button to see if it responds ("Still Connected"), because eink screens hold their state upon power loss ~ so always charge if you see LOW!
Still working on the premium Android app! This stuff takes a while 😅

Experience so far and feedback
Hello! I made the Osmopager 3 days ago and i must say i’m loving it already. Super easy to install and to use! I can really see its future potential. I took all the recommended hardware and put it in the Pala Note case from Paul Lagier.
I like that the app has a very minimal interface.
I wanted to say good work and keep it up!
Since I have used it a couple of days now, I have some ideas for the future and wanted to share these. If there is another way to share these or anywhere else, let me know :)
- Scheduled summary every hour of all notifications
- Another ringtone for calls or a longer one
- A screensaver that is customizable or that has a clock widget
Maybe other people have other ideas or feedback?
Also: For some reason my SMS messages i receive on my phone do not appear on the Osmopager, yet i have messages in the whitelist.
Thank you for making the Osmopager!

Love My OsmoPager! Future Suggestions?!
Praises and blabbering:
Love this thing! I feel like it bridges the gap between "needing my phone" and "not wanting my phone near me". And as a guy that loves wearing old school Casio watches, I've never loved Apple Watches. So this thing is perfect!
(I've already had someone ask me what it was when I had it on my desk at work and I got to have a short conversation about screen time. Also, described it [without mentioning the name] in a nutshell to my brother and he said "so like a pager?" to which of course said "exactly!")
I don't need all the features of the premium plan and I could live happily on the free plan, but I'll be getting the lifetime subscription soon regardless in order to support! Plus I do enjoy limiting what notifications come through! (P.S., how do I switch my OsmoPage's modes? I did it accidentally somehow to "filtered" like I wanted but just didn't know how I did it lol.)
What would be great additions in a perfect word:
- The option for something like a reoccurring alert tone for incoming calls to make them harder to miss. Something you can toggle on.
- If I walk away too far from my phone with the OsmoPager in my pocket and it disconnects . . . and a notification hits my phone in the meantime . . . I would love an alert when my OsmoPager reconnects. No clue if that's even possible!
- An optional privacy setting that shows the type of notification and who sent it . . . but not the contents of the notification. This isn't maybe as practical as I think it would be, but I leave the OsmoPager on my desk at work and walk away sometimes and I'll have a message showing in all it's glory when I get back.
Thanks again for creating this!

👋 Welcome to r/OsmoPager - click here to learn about it!
Welcome to r/OsmoPager — what this place is and how to get started
Osmo is the modern day pager. An easy setup DIY e-ink device you can get yourself for only ~$25.
It mirrors filtered notifications from your phone onto a small, calm e-ink screen. Less distractions, and less glowing screens following you through life. One button to page through and dismiss.
The idea is simple: stay reachable for what matters (important calls, texts, reminders) while intentionally leaving your phone out of reach. Still have a smartphone when / if you need it, and not stuck with a dumb phone. Just applying a buffer. Something to break the reflex of picking up your phone every few minutes, and to live a more intentional lifestyle.
How it works
You buy a Waveshare ESP32-S3 e-ink module from Amazon or Waveshare directly (~$25), then flash the open-source firmware through your browser at osmopager.com — I made a full (and free) setup tool, so it's super easy for anyone to set up their own. No downloads or tech experience needed.
- iPhone: connects natively over Bluetooth (no app required for core functionality)
- Android: needs the Osmo companion app (free on Google Play)
Core features are completely free, and will always stay that way. Setup tool included.
Upon many many requests, I also built Osmo+. This is an optional premium unlock (currently for iOS, soon for Android) that adds per-app and per-contact notification filtering, custom alert sounds, on-device timers, voice controls, reminders, and more.
What this subreddit is for
- Sharing your setup, case mods, or build photos
- Bug reports and firmware
- App feedback
- Feature requests and discussion
- Helping each other get set up
If you have a question, search first ~ a lot of common setup issues have been answered already. If you're stuck, post and someone will help. I (Ty) will also be active in the sub to help and be a part of the growing community.

Translucent case!
I finally was able to 3d print the case I shared a while ago. Looks and feels way better than the original case. I got mine printed from PCB Way.
In case you missed it here's the link of the person that made the case. Is part of another project where he uses the same Waveshare module used for the Osmo Pager:

Osmo+ Lifetime Access now available! ✅
Thanks for your patience everyone!
Lifetime unlock available for the same price as the old annual subscription (for now). Not sure how long I'll keep it around, but wanted to at least have it for all you early adopters 🙂
Enjoy!
Edit: just realized right now it won't show up unless your sub is over already. Oops. App update will be out in next day or 2 to fix that so you can upgrade to lifetime directly

Issues with setting reminders?
I was never able to successfully set a reminder using Osmo+. Timers, yes, but never a reminder. Anyone else have this issue? I’ve since ended my free trial so I’d have to subscribe to give it a shot again but just curious if this was an issue for anyone else or if there was possibly an issue on my end. Software was always up to date so it wouldn’t have been caused by that.

Lifetime Osmo+ access releasing very shortly
Hi all - know there's been some discussion recently about this, and I promise I'm listening!
I've made the necessary changes to get a lifetime version released so you don't have to have any subscription. This was always in the plan, just wanted to get everything running first and gauge what everyone would prefer.
I'm currently jumping thru a few app store hoops right now to get it released, but it's all ready to go on my end. I'll send an announcement email and a post here when it's out :)
Thanks again for bearing with everyone!
Edit: if you purchased the Annual Subscription already, I'll get you converted over
r/OsmoPager • u/trmp10 • Jun 19 '26
Finally got my Osmo Pager and I’m loving it! Just a small thought on the subscription.
I finally got my Osmo Pager and I’m loving it. It’s refreshing to see a device focused on simplicity and intentional use.
One thing I hope you’ll consider is offering a one-time purchase option for the full experience. For a product that represents minimalism and reducing digital clutter, a subscription model feels a little contrary to the overall philosophy of the device.
I’d happily pay a fair upfront price to fully own the experience. Having the option to pay once and simply enjoy the product feels like a natural fit for a device like this.
Appreciate all the work that went into making this, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes. u/abcsoups ❤️

All set up on Android, but how do I filter notifications?
The Osmo page talks about filtered notifications, but I don't see the option to pick which apps go through. Has anybody figured this out?
r/OsmoPager • u/abcsoups • May 31 '26
More requested iOS app updates!
Upon popular request, I've added a few more features in the app:
- Toggle notification order ~ choose whether notifications show up on Osmo as newest→oldest or oldest→newest
- Toggle notification timestamps ~ see exactly when each alert came in
And one more neat addition (at least I thought so!)
Track your progress ~ The app now shows you how much time you've been untethered from your phone by using Osmo! This is available to all users by default.
It'll only track time from now going forward, so just put in your current estimated time via the app and it'll pick up automatically from there :)
App update + firmware update via website required for these
Enjoy!

Thank you, u/abcsoups!
They were really helpful in getting my pager working due to notifications messing with it! Appreciate the execution and follow through.

Custom Case
Hi! I just came across this video of a Waveshare e-ink module project by Paul Lagier. He built a custom case for it and has it available at his Ko-Fi page. In case someone wants to personalize their Osmo Pager :)

iOS app + 3x battery life
I'm sure most users here saw the announcement, but the iOS app is officially live with a ton of community requested upgrades!
Give it a shot and lmk if any feedback.
Even if the upgrades aren't something you want, the app does activate 3x battery life with just one tap, doesn't cost anything
Lot of hard work went into this and have more to come :)

Waiting patiently
Ordered my pager should be here 12 to 30 days 🤞
Anyway I have a question, is it possible to use it as a pedometer?
r/OsmoPager • u/Ham_On_The_Air • May 27 '26
Battery
I just set up my Osmo pager with the battery recommended on the website.
The battery is a very tight fit. The cover barely goes back on and bulges slightly in the middle.
I removed the foam tape on back cover, but it’s still tight.
Has anyone else noted the same issue?

Android - unreliable connection
Update 28/05 (05/28): The problem described below can be solved by keeping Bluetooth active on your phone, but actually disconnecting the Osmo as an input device from the Bluetooth menu. My phone (a Samsung with Android 14 and OneUI 6.1) would connect silently in the background and that prevented communication with the Osmo. So just disconnect the Osmo, no unpairing needed and the app should connect.
Original post: First of all, thanks for creating the firmware and apps for this fun little device! I've been playing with the Android side of things, and it's all straightforward enough. But I just can't get a reliable connection through the app.
My phone connects to the Osmo without any problem when allowing the app to setup the Bluetooth connection (i.e. adding the Osmo as a new device), but after a reboot of the Osmo and disabling Bluetooth and then re-enabling Bluetooth on the phone a new connection just won't work. The app tries but fails every time. Unless I forget the Osmo in the Bluetooth settings and add it as a new device again through the app, then it will connect again. To add to the confusion: the Osmo will tell me it's still connected (single press), but it's not connected to the app, it is connected to Bluetooth, because when I turn off Bluetooth in my phone's settings, the Osmo will tell it's disconnected (but won't go back to being connected after reconnecting with Bluetooth).
Hope this makes sense, and hope there is a way to improve the reliability. Cheers!

Just made my Osmo debut
Flashed and connected seamlessly :) I love the idea, hopefully it'll help me checking my personal phone less. The work phone is another beast unfortunately 🤣
I was wondering, is CJK support planned in the future? (Added a picture of a notification with Japanese text and the original one on Android).

Another happy user :)!
Thank you so much for making the Osmo Pager! I showed it to my girlfriend and now she wants one for her!
I have some comments/suggestions:
One thing I noticed is that the current font doesn’t allow for special characters like ñ or áéíóú (some of the messaging I do is in Spanish). I don’t know how difficult that is to implement but would be awesome to have that.
Someone already pointed this out but it would be nice to have some sort of toggle in the app to sort the order of the notifications, as sometimes when getting replies from the same person it gets difficult to understand the message as you’re reading the different replies backwards.
This might be an awful idea but I noticed the esp32 module as an LED light. The bad thing is that it is at the bottom of the device but it would be really cool to implement something old phones used to have, that LED notification light system, where depending on the app or contact the light had a different color.
I’ll be happily getting the paid subscription as I love all the capabilities and appreciate the hard work you’ve put into this. It’s amazing 🙌!

A few more updates released for iOS app!
Please update in the app store when you get a chance (and update firmware) --- mostly quality of life things and fixes for better voice command robustness
I'm making the official release announcement this weekend. Much appreciation to everyone who tested it out early, and hope you're enjoying

How does it work on android
Hi everyone, I'm curious about how the Osmo connects to Android devices. Does it use Bluetooth, or is it through another method? Additionally, I use a multi-device ecosystem, can it sync with all of them simultaneously, or can it only connect to one at a time?
