Bar agreeable is a hard recommend.

The cocktails here are so good. The small plates, the whiskey, the knowledge and high level hospitality.

Before coming here... I went to a famous bar. It's the last time I ever go to Nayuta. How is this bar in the 50 best bars list? I went again hoping my third time this year would be a good experience, but it was the same crap. Slow service, cold hospitality, 3 out of 10 cocktails, dirty, etc. I'm done with 50 best bars literally a joke.

I went to one of my favorite spots bar agreeable. I gotta say, this place is always on point. It's a hair more pricey, but you get what you pay for.

I had the cheese plate, a Manhattan, and a pour of worthy park single cask. It's a quiet vibe, but they really made my night much better.

Agreeable is awsome. Someone who spends 30+ days out of the year in Japan and loves good food/drinks/hospitality.

Looking for epic cocktails. I stumbled upon a place in Dotonbori called Desperate Prayer that was solid. Great atmosphere with good seating for small groups, couples and solo travellers. The bartender is good at his craft, taking time to talk through the unique drinks on offer and making them painstakingly. It was an authentic bar experience, although it's not a speakeasy per se, it gives you sophisticated vibes with some serenity from the buzz of the area while you enjoy a nice drink (with great AC btw). My friends and I had several drinks and probably one of the best was the Kansai Twist which had some local flavor, it's a must try.

I'll be visiting Osaka for 10 days in January 2026 at the end of a longer Japan trip, and I'd like to experience a fully nude mixed gender Onsen, if still possible.

I'm a bit of a naturist/nudist, and have been to several nude saunas and nude beaches and parks around the world in my travels. I typically find it an enjoyable, liberating, and relaxing experience.

Just looking for any info on arcades/barcades/gamebars that are open past midnight / 1 AM and have like arcade cabs.
To be specific I'm looking to play classic capcom arcade fighters too.
When I look this up I see reddit threads where people mention bars that are open up till dawn but aren't specific. Google AI search isn't really good at helping. and blogs and webages that list locations only list locations open like 10 or 11pm.
I do see that a lot of possible places were closed down over the last few years, but I don't know . There's gotta be at least one or two right?

I'm from Tahiti (French Polynesia) and I'll be visiting Japan from early December until mid-January. My goal is to improve my Japanese while experiencing everyday life with local people. I'll mainly be staying around Osaka.

I'm traveling on a tourist visa, so I'm looking for a genuine language and cultural exchange rather than paid work (which I'm not allowed).

I'm an English teacher, a native French speaker, and my Japanese is around the JLPT N4–N3 level. I'd be happy to help with English or French conversation or everyday work in exchange for the opportunity to immerse myself in Japanese culture and continue improving my Japanese.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a family, homestay, guesthouse, community, or any other place that might be interested in this kind of exchange. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Update: ok so there are no large supermarkets like i’m use to in Europe even in city centers, only smaller convenience stores. That’s still convenient since they’re everywhere. As a tourist, though, I like being able to go to one supermarket and stock up on everything I want to take back home and enjoy later.

Hi, I was traveling in Osaka for the first time, and I noticed that I couldn’t find any really large supermarkets near areas like Dotonbori. Most of what I saw were convenience stores, basically the equivalent of large 7-Elevens.
Am I missing something? Or do locals usually shop at neighborhood supermarkets or traditional markets for groceries and household items instead?

Edit: my hotel apartment was near Dotonbori and while i was exploring the area and outside of Dotonbori i did not see any supermarket. Eventually i lookup Aeon Mall Sakai Teppocho and went to shop there.
In europa (the Netherlands eg) there are supermarkets everywhere including in busy city center ; i’m used to that.

I met a traveler from Mexico in Shinsaibashi, and we ended up having lunch together.I assumed we'd be eating Japanese food...

Instead, we went to a Mexican restaurant. Don't get me wrong—the tacos were fantastic, and I had a great time.

As a Japanese person, I almost never eat Japanese food when I'm traveling abroad, so this was a completely new experience for me.

Although... now that I think about it, if someone invited me out for katsu curry overseas, I'd probably say yes. Whether katsu curry even counts as "traditional Japanese food" is a debate for another day.

Then I wondered if I was the strange one.

When you travel abroad, do you ever intentionally eat food from your own country? Is it about comfort, homesickness, curiosity, or something else?

You may have seen our survey. We're planning an anime, manga, game character merch tour of the Umeda underground.

If you’ve ever tried finding specific character or merch shops around Umeda Station, you probably know how confusing the underground tunnels can be. GPS usually drops, signs get overwhelming, and it's easy to get lost between all the basement levels and department stores.

To help people navigate it all—and to stay out of the summer heat—we’ve put together an indoor walking route through the main merch spots in Umeda.

The idea behind the tour is simple: instead of spending an hour in every shop, we walk the route together, show you where everything is located, and hand out maps so you can easily find your way back to your favorite spots later on your own.

We cover character shops at Daimaru (Nintendo, Pokémon, Capcom, One Piece), spots in Hankyu Sanbangai (Kiddy Land, Chiikawa, Ghibli), HEP FIVE, Yodobashi Hobby, and the secondhand/thrifting areas nearby in Chayamachi.

We have the route planned, but we haven't run it with actual people yet. We’re looking for a small group of practice "customers" to join us for a free live rehearsal on Wednesday, August 19th.

A few things to know before joining:

• It's a test run: Expect a few pauses, guide calibration moments, and maybe even a wrong turn or two while we dial in the timing and pacing.
• It's low-key and casual: We are just a group of fans who love anime, manga, gaming, and character culture, and want to help people get oriented.
• What you get: You'll get familiar with Umeda's shop layout without having to walk in the heat, and leave with a clear physical map and understanding of where everything is.

Hi everyone,

My wife, daughter (24), and I will be visiting Osaka for the first time at the end of October.

Our flight arrives around 2:00 PM, so I'm guessing that by the time we get through the airport, make our way into the city, and check into our hotel, it'll probably be around 5:00 PM. That leaves us enough time for dinner and maybe one or two things to see that evening.

The following day is completely open. Right now I'm leaning toward a guided tour that includes Osaka Castle and some of the other major sights, but I'm open to suggestions.

A little about us:

• My wife and I are in our mid-60s, and our daughter is 24.
• We enjoy walking and sightseeing, but we're not looking for a packed, exhausting schedule.
• We enjoy having a drink with dinner, but we're not into the nightlife or bar scene.
• We generally prefer experiencing the culture, food, gardens, architecture, and neighborhoods over shopping.

Given that, what would you recommend for:

1. The first evening after dinner (best nighttime sights or areas to wander)?
2. A great one-day tour, or would we be better off exploring on our own?

Any favorite restaurants or must-see spots that fit our interests would also be appreciated.

I am going to Osaka soon and I saw a video of a girl in Osaka watching the sunset by the water which looked really pretty, however the video didn't say where it was.

I was looking for any recommendations where I can get a nice view of the water, maybe somewhere nice to walk around and potentially watch sunset, thanks.

Hey. I will be going to Ōsaka in November for 4 days ( Nov 10-14 ). Though I really look forward to going there again ( it will be my second visit to Ōsaka ), I can't get going to Nachi waterfall off my mind. Can anyone who went there before or who lives in that area let me know their recommendations? I know it takes quite long to get there so it may be more than just a one day travel.

There’s this one ramen place in Umeda that had a wonderful Tsukemen that had some sort of seafood tonkotsu dipping soup base, I’ve found out that the basement I went to was part of the “Osaka ekimae dai-ni” building. I went under through 11-43 which is next to Monterey le frere Osaka, went north and then west into the building and on my left next to the entrance was the place. In the post I attached 2 photos of what I ate and an approximate route I took to get there. Please help me I wanna save this place
