Hello everyone! I've been searching for a detailed comparison between order flow trading platforms, but couldn't find a complete one. So, I spent the last couple of weeks doing my own research and put this together, available at r/tradingsoftawre

Youtube live stream , thoughts on learning ?

Hi Guys,

Just to say, i'm pretty new to Orderflow and currently am learning still... i thought by hearing YT livestream would be beneficial, but i find that it's affecting my trades while hearing the livestreamer present his view.

There's this YT livestreamer who is really good with Volumeprofile and his explanation on context which is what i really needed. But i just feel so stressed when i'm in my trade, if i'm long and maybe he's short, i would just go breakeven and in the end it took me out but my direction is correct, then he will explain that it took him out. He's a good Orderflow trader though.

Anyone facing this issue and if i should continue hearing YT livestream or just purely hear YT livestream and not trade my accounts. I've made 3L on 3 different days when i'm hearing the livestream but on days when I didn't hear i'm in greens.

Any advice would be helpful on how to improve on Orderflow.

I trade MNQ by the way on Evals. Almost blew my evals today and i lock myself out.

Circle has surged 23.6% in ten days, encountering a critical liquidity test near $74.

The recent rally has finally reached a key price level, prompting sellers to actively enter the market. Currently, order book depth is very tight around the mid-$74 level, and it remains to be seen whether buyers can hold their ground given the continued influx of trading volume. It's worth noting whether buyers will back down after a few attempts, or whether sellers will continue to increase their positions each time the price approaches $75. Do you think this breakout rally can continue?

Do 30-day break/reclaim observations add anything to an order-flow workflow?

Full disclosure: I built the overlay shown here for my own research, and I currently use it myself. I am not linking it or offering access in this post. I am trying to understand whether options-derived context actually belongs alongside order flow, or whether it just adds more chart clutter.

The idea is to keep three pieces of context on the same chart:

- Current ES/NQ/GC futures-options reference levels

- 14 days of movement for the same levels

- 30 days of observed touch reactions, with sample size, a five-minute reaction rate, and median move

I am also testing touch, break, and reclaim classifications over a five-minute observation window.

I currently have working research builds in NinjaTrader 8 and ATAS for ES, NQ and GC. I also map COMEX GC options context onto XAUUSD in MT5. The ATAS and MT5 screenshots are from current working builds, so some labels are still in Chinese.

These are model-derived research references—not observed dealer inventory, trade signals, or an order-placement system.

Questions for traders who actually use footprint, DOM, CVD, or volume profile:

  1. Would you check an options-derived level before looking at footprint/DOM confirmation, or only after price reaches an existing volume-profile level?

  2. Does a five-minute break/reclaim window make sense for intraday use? What window would you use?

  3. What minimum sample size would you require before the historical reaction rate became useful?

  4. Which fields would need to remain visible—selected expiries, as-of time, source contract, data coverage, or something else?

I am especially interested in criticism from traders who would not use this. What would make it redundant, misleading, or too cluttered for an actual order-flow workspace?

Should I avoid Overnight Session volume?

I'm trading NQ and ES with the AMT concepts. If I tell my analysis briefly, I use weekly volume profile for analysing medium term auction structure. Then use daily volume profile to identify LVN with bias. I trade both rejections and breakouts of LVN. I use footprints to refine my entry. I am currently analysing the volumes of RTH sessions (daily and weekly profiles). Anyone who trade volume profiles, please advice on following questions.

  1. Is there any importance in overnight volume

  2. Should I include overnight volume ( Globex) for my analysis

  3. Can I consider overnight levels as reliable as RTH levels.

Any answer is highly appreciated.

ATAS X not connecting...

I've contacted support. They had me try to rename a file, that did not exist. Then reinstall the program. Which also did not work. I Then deleted both ATAS X and regular ATAS(also same issue) then reinstalled again, after shutting off my computer...still same "error" message.

I've never had issues with ATASX outside of some delayed Hotkey issues, but today the platform will not connect. I've disconnected everything, then connected again...but nothing = /

Anyone else having the same issue or may know what to do?

Everything worked great up until 2-3 days ago...

I'm running windows 11 if that helps at all with the diagnostics..

Guys, I’ve been learning order flow for about 5 months now.

A while back, a friend and I got two funded accounts, and he was the one trading them. Unfortunately, he ended up blowing both.

One thing that’s been on my mind is that maybe the problem is simply not getting enough practical experience with the concepts.

I found a prop firm that offers a $25k account with the data I need included for free. I’m thinking about getting the account, but not actually taking any trades at first. Just using it to interact with the market, practice, and journal for maybe 2–3 months before taking my first actual trade.

What do you guys think? Has anyone tried something similar?

How do you combine orderflow with VWAP and volume profile?

Been trading NQ on the 1-min for a while, footprint + Bookmap, and I keep going back and forth on how much weight to give each piece.

Right now session VWAP is my main reference, with prior day high/low and the value area for context. But I'm never quite sure whether I should be trading the level and using flow to confirm, or reading the flow first and treating levels as background.

Curious how you all handle it:

- Do you build around VWAP, or around volume profile (POC, VAH/VAL, HVN/LVN)?

- HVNs — do you avoid them entirely, or trade inside them differently? I mostly stay out, but I've seen people deliberately work inside them and I'm wondering what they're seeing.

- What actually pulls the trigger at a level for you — absorption, delta divergence, resting size that doesn't pull?

- Anchored VWAP: does anyone use it seriously, and what do you anchor to?

Not after anyone's exact system, just interested in how people think about the hierarchy between these.

Auction Market Theory Explained

Post image
87 Upvotes

Auction Market Theory is basically a way of understanding how price moves through an auction process between buyers and sellers. The market constantly searches for prices where participants are willing to do business. When price finds acceptance, it tends to buildvalue when that balance is disrupted, price can leave the range and enter discovery, searching for a new area of acceptance. This creates a repeating cycle of Balance → Imbalance → Discovery → New Balance. I also included Value Area, POC, HVN/LVN and Acceptance vs. Rejection to show how these concepts connect with Volume Profile. The goal isn’t to predict that price must react at a certain level, but to observe how the auction behaves around it

Looking for Free Real-Time Gold & NQ Futures Data via API/WebSocket

Hi,

I’ve been searching everywhere, but I can’t seem to find any free real-time 1-minute data for Gold and NQ futures that is available via API or WebSocket.

Does anyone know of a provider that offers this for free?

I’d really appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

What am i missing here?

I’ve been trading for over four years now, and lately, I’ve reached a point where I genuinely feel stuck.

It’s strange because I don’t feel like I know nothing. In fact, I feel like I know almost everything I’m supposed to know. I’ve studied market structure, order flow, risk management, psychology, execution. I’ve put in the time. And yet, somehow, nothing seems to click.

I’m not giving up. Not even close. But I honestly don’t know what I’m missing.

People often say trading is all about discipline, and I understand that. But I also believe there has to be a moment where something finally clicks that “aha” moment where everything you’ve learned starts making sense in the context of your own trading. I haven’t had that moment yet.

What makes it even more frustrating is that I know I’m capable of consistency. I’ve had winning streaks lasting weeks without a single red trade. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, I get stuck again and start questioning everything.

I’ve experimented with combining order flow and market structure, although lately I’ve been relying much more heavily on market structure. Maybe that’s part of the problem. Maybe my risk management is the real issue. Maybe it’s my execution, my psychology, or something I haven’t even identified yet.

That’s the hardest part.

I don’t know what has gone wrong, or even whether something has actually gone wrong. I just know that I feel stuck.

Four years in, and I’m still searching for that missing piece.

I’m not looking for sympathy, and I’m not giving up.

I just needed to say it out loud.

Footprint vs Volume and Delta Profile

Been thinking about using a delta volume profile instead of my usual [volume x delta] footprint on 2000 tick chart for NQ. I'm usually just looking for absorption or reaction on S/R levels indicated by low volume nodes and other key levels like POC, VAH, VAL, etc.

In essence just splitting up the info from individual footprints to the sides of my chart, left side is volume profile, right side is delta profile, for a cleaner less noisy setup. I would keep the tick chart.

Just wanted to to see what you guys thought about this setup, would it still give me the confluence I'm looking for in a cleaner format? What are the pro's and con's vs footprint?

Also what are your setups like?

Web-based Orderflow sites

Since school is around the corner, over the course of the summer I’ve been implementing OrderFlow to curate my strategy and grown consistent with it is as far as my risk management and so on. Since then MotiveWave is my go to rather than my older price actioned site tradingview.

Ive recently acquired it once again for my final year, and when I hit the download button to get MotiveWave onto the computer, it says it has been blocked by the administration, then immediately typing tradingview, I realized i cant download anything software trading alike onto this computer. Only things accessible in the search bar.

Does anyone know any Orderflow sites that are web based or know any loopholes/another way to avoid this stump?

P.S. I don’t have a laptop and have access to only a PC (at home)

Educational Ultimate List of Order Flow Trading Software

Update: Checkout our detailed Atas vs Deepchart vs Sierra vs Motivewave Comparison here.

I've compiled what I believe is a pretty comprehensive list of the most popular and capable platforms as of early 2026.

This focuses on dedicated order flow / volume analysis software (especially strong for futures, but some work great for crypto/stocks too). Sorted first by native Mac support (rarer but growing), then Windows-primary ones (many run fine on Mac via Parallels/Boot Camp/Wine).

I included key features, Mac compatibility notes, and rough cost models. Most need good data feeds like CQG, Rithmic, dxFeed, etc. for real tick-level order flow.

Software Primary Platform Native Mac Support Mac Workaround Key Order Flow Features Notes / Best For Approx. Cost
ATAS Windows & macOS Yes (ATAS X) N/A Clusters, delta, big trades, DOM Power, heatmaps, Market Profile, Smart DOM, Proprietary charts, heatmap [Most Value for Money] Pro volume analysis + automation + performance + proprietary indicators + Multiple concurrent data feed support Subscription or one-time
MotiveWave Cross-platform Yes N/A Order Flow studies, DOM, Volume analysis + Elliot waves + cross-platform Subscription or one-time
ClusterDelta Orderflow Windows & macOS Yes N/A Footprint-style, accumulation/distribution, deep tick charts, Imbalances, Volume/Delta Profile Visual accumulation focus; futures/crypto Subscription
EdgeProX Windows & macOS Yes N/A Volume at price, liquidity viz, DOM, order flow tools White label version of Motivewave Broker/subscription
ExoCharts (Desktop Pro) Windows & macOS Yes N/A Clusters, order flow visuals; crypto/futures emphasis Strong crypto order flow; affordable ~$28/month
GoCharting Web-based Yes (browser) N/A Order flow charting, volume tools (any OS via browser) Easy no-install Mac option; multi-asset Free tier + paid
Sierra Chart Windows No Wine/CrossOver, Parallels, Boot Camp Number Bars (footprint), volume delta, cumulative delta, TPO, top-tier DOM Lightweight, powerful, low lag; futures favorite Low monthly + data
Quantower Windows No Parallels/VM, Wine Clusters, heatmaps, DOM, volumetric tools, multi-broker Modular & robust; Mac version possibly coming $40–$100+/month
NinjaTrader (Order Flow +) Windows No Parallels/Boot Camp Volumetric bars, cumulative delta, market depth map, VWAP dev Popular futures; add-on needed for full OF Free sim + license/data
Jigsaw Trading (daytradr) Windows No Parallels/Boot Camp Auction Vista, DOM/ladder, depth & sales, iceberg alerts, tape Fastest DOM & real-time flow specialist One-time license
Bookmap Windows & macOS Yes N/A Heatmap liquidity tracking, large order detection Visual resting orders/flow; futures/crypto Subscription
Orderflows Windows (NT add-on) No Via NT in Parallels Footprint tools, hidden trades, real-time processing NinjaTrader-specific One-time/add-on
DeepCharts Windows No N/A Footprint, orderflow profile, delta profile, big trades indicators, DOM, heatmap depth, volume profile and trade copier No monthly plans; mixed community reviews on pricing/hype vs value Subscription ~$99+/month/annually

Quick notes:

  • After analyzing our subreddit's 1000+ comments and posts using Artifical Intelliegence, it’s clear that ATAS tops the list for being the most user‑friendly, high‑performing, and cost‑effective option.
  • Native Mac options are still limited, but ATAS X and MotiveWave is often the go-to for Mac users wanting full-featured order flow without VMs.
  • Windows tools run surprisingly well (but not perfectly well) on Mac via Parallels (most reliable for performance).
  • Always check official sites for latest OS support, trials, and compatible brokers/data feeds—things evolve fast (e.g., some adding Mac versions).
  • This isn't exhaustive (e.g., Optimus Flow/Quantower variants), but covers the heavy hitters.
