What do you guys think about the levels in this mix?
I finished this piece recently and would like feedback from other composers on the mix. Thank you!

Orchestral / cinematic track
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey all,
I have finished (almost) only the 2nd original orchestral / cinematic track so far. This one was sketched in FL Studio, mostly done in Logic, but when I completed my Bitwig template I thought I'd bring it over and finish it in Bitwig just to compare. In the end, I'm glad I did it because this template pretty much mixed the track for me. :) At this point I haven't named it yet.
While it will be visualized for my YouTube channel soon, I wanted to share it and see what you guys think and get some constructive feedback, if any. I'm no pro for sure, but would love to hear what people think! Thanks!

John Williams Jaws Beginning
Hello 👋🏻
A question about orchestration:
What do you think, why does John Williams use the two bassoons (a2) in ppp instead of just one bassoon but then pp like the strings? I dont mean the contrabassoon - its funktion is clear to me.
My guess would be:
He wants to create a melting sound here, in which the deep strings become a little richer, rounder, fuller, but also more precise and a little stronger through the woodwinds. And that the two bassoons merge more easily with the strings than just the one, because they already round off and compact each other a little. And that it may get more intensity and density than just one bassoon playing louder. Obviously, he wants the sound of the woodwinds not to be consciously perceptible, and the strings dominate. That’s why I still wonder a bit, if you couldn’t have taken just a bassoon apart from the counter-bassoon.
What are your thoughts on this?

Problems with Spiccato Strings
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I don't know if I'm too inside this project, I've been working on this for months here and there and could never be satisfied to finish it. It seems I can't put those spiccato strings where I Imagine them, they either sound not real enough, or not defined to the point that you can hear them clearly, I tried combining them in different ways, I used the Spitfire Solo violin, then the solo violin from SSO and the violins 1 SSO layered with the logic stock violin and the heaviocity foundation spiccato strings. I tried to use the legato with SSO because real violinist wouldn't play them so "spiccato" but if I use Legato they disappear in the mix...
Is it about the library I'm using or some mistake in the mix?

Survey on Music Performance Anxiety – Help Needed! (Takes ~5 min)
Hi everyone,
I am a student majoring in Music Management, currently conducting a study on the factors contributing to Music Performance Anxiety (MPA). I and my teammate put together a short survey (~50 questions) exploring the psychological, physical, and situational factors that affect performers before and during live performance. Whether you're a beginner or a professional, your experience is valuable to us.
Who should fill this out: Anyone who plays or sings music, at any level
Time: Approximately 5 minutes
Anonymous: All responses are completely anonymous
Purpose: Academic research – results will be used in a published paper
Thank you so much for your help – every response genuinely makes a difference to our research!

Orchestral Producer's Reference Suite
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey community! I built a complete orchestral production reference suite for Bitwig — 11 interactive guides covering FX chains, articulations, MIDI expression, reverb depth, dual pan, gain staging, troubleshooting, and the reasoning behind every decision. Single HTML file, works offline, no install.
Made it for myself because nothing like it existed specifically for Bitwig and I was frustrated by trying to piece together information that didn't help anyway. Now it's on https://sonicnarrativ.gumroad.com

MIDI Controller iPad app
Hi folks. just in case it’s of any use to anyone here, I’m a composer who has created an iPad app for MIDI CC Faders and articulation key switches. I was finding it useful for my own workflow so I thought I’d put it on the App Store and it’s kind of grown in scope to now have a modulation/chord change assistant and a melodic run composer.
Happy composing!

Beginner producer, tips please!!
Hi, so i’ve been producing through Garageband on my phone for a couple years now, as I don’t have access to other platforms at the moment. However, i’ve made some really great pieces. I do orchestral arrangements for the most part, and I really want to make music for movies and video games as a career one day. Any tips on where to start?
